Ryder pov

I sighed as we entered the pack grounds, im glad to be home, but I was hoping to meet my mate while I was visiting the silver moon pack. At 28 not having a mate is starting to make me crazy.

We will find her soon. I can feel it.

said my Wolf Troy.

Hmmm I hope so. I want what Jason has, a family to call my own.

"beta", Mike said to get my attention, then he continued, "Alpha would like to see you right away, it seems we have an odd situation with a new shewolf he would like to discuss with you". Troy perks his ears up at that.

I raised my eyebrows at him. "Very well Mike" its good to be home. I sigh again.

5 minutes later, we are pulling up to the pack house. Troy is getting increasingly excited, he is pacing back and forth as i get out of the car, I start to ask " what is it man..?" Only to smell the most beautiful sent like raspberries and roses mixed together. It coming from inside the pack house. I walked in and saw the side of a woman.

mate mate mate yells troy.

She has beautiful browned hair, green eyes , a small smile and, from the side i see she has some killer curves.

Troy starts to surface and I rush her. I pin her up against a wall, my head against her neck and inhale that sweet scent deeply. I cant believe it, Troy, we found her. f

Finally. Here at our own pack. Thank the goddess!

I feel her push away gently, I'm about to look in the eyes of my mate, the woman I will love for eternity.

Then I fell to the ground clutching my jaw and she's gone. What the f*ck? Did she just hit me? Where did she go?

I stand up to follow her but im now being held back by Jason..

"gggrrrrr "I growled in his face

"no stop", yells his mate Kate

Then I felt Mike grabbing me aswell i start to struggle.

Crash Jason is pushed into a table, the a vase on it falls and smashes on the ground.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING, THATS MY MATE" I yelled at him.

I am able to get a arm free and punch Jason in the nose. Mike grabs my arm to try and subdue me, but i am much stronger than him, since I'm a beta. I use all my strength and threw him across the room into a wall.

"grrrrrrrraww" I felt David before i see him.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE" he roars.

I struggle but ultimately bow my head to my alpha.

DAVID pov

Seeing my second and third in command fighting is a shock to me. Kate is helping Mike up, then she rushes to Jason to look at his nose, which appears to be broken.

I looked at Ryder, he looked furious and a bruise has appeared on his jaw.

"Alpha Jason is keeping me from my mate!"

"Mate?" I looked shocked, then turned to Jason, who still has kate fussing over him.

alpha," Emily is his mate"

The she-wolf widower that crossed our border this morning, Dexter said

oh sh*t, i look at ryder. Well, this is exactly what we need. I knew she would bring trouble here. My 2 best friends are fighting because of this shewolf. I sigh

"MY OFFICE NOW" I commanded to jason and Ryder, they both lower there heads and follow me.

I started to walk up the stairs, but remember she is likely with her kids on the 4th floor. We need to pass her to go to the 5th where my office is. I sighed again and pushed the button for the elevator. The wait is awkward, I can feel the rage rolling off Ryder.

Ryders pov

I cant believe this, my two best friends are keeping me away from my mate. Why? Why would they do this to me?

They know how much i want a mate, how long i have waited for this day.

I am starting to lose my cool, my fists are hurting from digging in my nails, trying to stay in control of Troy who wants to find our mate, mate and mark her right now.

What the hell is going on?

We entered David's office. I can smell her scent here, she must have been in his office this morning.

I growl at that, David raises his eyebrows at me , I lower my head in submission.

"Sit down" he said. I did as told and Jason sat next to me, still wiping the now dried blood on his face. Serves him right, he would have done the same, had i kept him from Kate. I smirk.

"Your mate" David starts "She crossed our border this morning, looking for safety" i growl

Safety? is she in trouble?

"Ryder, she is a bitten newborn. She claims to have been bitten less then a week ago and came here looking to escape from the wolf who attacked and turned her".

I sat back in my chair,. I relaxed a little as i think "That's why she hit me? that why did you stop[ed me from going after her?" I asked Jason.

"Yes, but there is more". Jason and david share a look. What could it be? Why are they so concerned?

It's Jason who continues " not only is she a new born who, doesnt know what a mate is, but when she was bitten she was attacked and assaulted" im struggling to keep myself in check now.

Someone hurt our mate, someone touched her without her permission. Troy is horrified.

That's why she reacted the way she did. She's afraid of me

I feel deflated, all my anger washes away, replaced by sadness that I scared my mate. Then anger rises again when I think of someone touching her, assaulting her. I clench my fists but relax them soon after. I need to think of her first. She doesn't need my anger, she needs my compassion.

David and Jason are watching me carefully. I can see in their faces there more. David nods at Jason, he swallows

"She also came here with her two human children." i cant help my surprise, she already has children. Does this mean she is already taken by their father? will she not want me? Does this mean I won't have my own children? Do I want to raise some other man's children?

WILL SHE REJECT ME? I feel panic rising at this.

Jason continues, " they are 4 and almost 2, a boy and girl. Their father was her husband but he passed away a year and a half ago". The room is silent. Im speechless.

Our mate has been through so much, losing her first husband, raising children on her own, being assaulted and then turned. she must be so tough to survive all of that and come here, to a unknown place with unknown people, so brave. troy thinks. He finds her amazing.

The silence in the room is deafening. I sit and process this, 2 minutes pass before I can speak.

"She came here for safety?"

It's David who answers this time.

"Yes, her wolf instructed her to. She was afraid the wolf who turned her would come looking for her. She figured that whatever his plan is, her human children would not have been apart of that plan. She came here to keep them safe."

Wow is all i think. She must be terrified. A week ago she had no idea that we existed but she walked into our territory on the faith her wolf wouldn't put her kids in danger, that we would protect her and them.

Jason and David are just watching me while I absorb all of this.

"What do we know about the wolf who did this to her?" I looked at David

"not much she didnt get a look at the guy, but i will order a investigation into it and have granted her a 14 day pass in the territory while we investigate her claims". I nod at david.

"Im sorry i had to stop you from going to her. I just didn't want you to scare her more with everything already going on, she still has a lot to learn about our kind. Now you know everything, it's up to you how to proceed, but my advice would be to take it slow and follow her lead with this", Jason said. I nod. I understand, after everything, I'll need to be gentle. This is a unique situation.

'You could reject her' David said. My head snaps to David, Troy is growling in my head. "i will not do that" i yell at David.

"I'm just saying we don't know this she wolf. She has human children, she doesn't know our ways".

"I don't care, she is my mate, i will not reject her!" Troy is surfacing again.
