Running From The Alpha

chapter 2

Emily pov

The drive up to the "pack house" is longer than i expected. I expected a short drive way up to a normal house. The forest here... the trees are massive. The road we are on doesn't look like it's close to an end and we have already been on it for 5 minutes. We were all looking out the window at the lush green forest when I felt a little tug on my coat. yes sweetness? i asked. Drew.

'Is this where we are camping? he asked.

'Yes baby' I answered.

I didnt want to worry his little mind with the truth, it would scare him. Truth be told, it scared me. I'm starting to think this was a bad idea..

This is what we have to do to keep them safe, to keep ourselves safe, Clarissa reminded me.

so you say, but a week ago the thought of a voice in my head telling me to run away to the forest would have put me in a straight jacket. Now I'm just supposed to believe that you're not imaginary, I'm not crazy and we are in danger. I said back to her.

I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.

'Miss? The driver has got my attention

Yes? I answered,'

the alp...leader here' as he looks at the children ' um he wants to meet with you right away'. I sucked in a deep breath. Clarissa warned me about this, that the "alpha" would have questions.

Don't be afraid.

right, he will let us stay as long as we are not a danger to his pack. I know, i know. You said that already.

But an alpha can be scary and might try to take the children before I get to explain. I don't want that to happen, but I also know that I can't explain everything in front of them because they don't know what happened to me. I don't want to scare them.

'OK' i replied '... but do you have somewhere or somebody safe for the children to go to while i speak to him? I don't want to scare them?

'I will speak to the gamma now' the driver replies.

David pov

Alpha? ' what is it' I said to Jason.

'The She Wolf. she has requested that we speak with out the children present to not scare them'. I looked at him annoyed.

Who is this She Wolf and who is she to make such a request?

perhaps it is a good thing she is proactive of them, she probably doesn't intend on hurting them , said dexter

Jason sensed my annoyance. 'I could have Kate come down with the pup to watch over them here? I'm not sure what is going on with this shewolf, but I don't think this poses a danger to us. Nate said he senses no ill will from her."

I think for a moment 'fine have kate meet us at the front of the pack house to receive the children".

"Yes, alpha" he replies as his eyes glaze over slightly. I know he is mind linking his mate Kate. i envy him. He met his mate at 19. To a werewolf, a mate is a blessing, a gift from the moon goddess for our kind, blah blah blah.

When we meet our mate, it is said that we are complete, they are supposed to complete us. I cant imagine what it is like to feel that sure of someone, to know that they are the 1 person made for you and only you. Someone chosen for you alone.

I am sure that I don't have a mate, but being an alpha, I need one. I need to continue the line of succession of alpha. At some point i will need to take a chosen mate, since my true mate from the goddess does not exist. I've never heard of a pairing like mine chosen by the moon goddess. Jason cleared his throat to get my attention, as I was lost in thought. "Right, let's go meet this She Wolf."

Emily pov

As we finally pulled out of the little road, I saw a massive house come into view. I was amazed, "this place is beautiful" I said out loud. It is a 5-story building with beautiful old architecture. It looks like a castle except it has some beautiful high windows on the upper levels. With the dark roof, slight peaks, the old grey sandstone bricks give it a slight medieval look, but it still feels homely and charming somehow.. As I looked around, I saw other houses down the road, looks like a small village, with roads and paths. There are children playing and couples walking around chatting to one another. It looks like this would be a nice place to raise a family. I'm not sure what i was expecting but it wasnt this. This looks normal, a normal small town but with more open spaces and so much nature. I'm startled by the car coming to a sudden stop.

I looked at the big house and saw 3 adults and a small child standing at the front of the door. The women looked nice enough, the two men look intimidating, both over 6 feet, built up like they had lifted weights since before puberty and never missed leg day. I internally chuckle. At least one has a small smile on his face, he looks like he is meant to be intimidating but is actually a nice guy under it. He has blonde hair and green eyes. I noticed the little girl looked very much like him, he must be her dad and the woman was the mum. The other guy looks like someone sat on his birthday cake.

I swallow.. here we go
