"Thank you so much Aaron....thank you" she muttered in between sobs. He patted her back slowly. "Its okay aunty, i hate the way they bully you. I will do my best to protect you" he promised. She felt a spark of hope in her heart at this boy's words and then let him go after returning his jacket. He ran joyfully and purposefully away, while she returned to her room. He fetched the water and was heading to her room, when he ran into his mom. "Aaron! Where are you taking that water to?" She asked in a soft and kind tone. "To water my flowers mom" he lied hurrying away. She nodded and patted his head. Anabel was very touched when brought the water and even a new bar of soap. "Please take a bath quickly aunty before it gets cold. I will try and go sneak some fever pills from my mom room. I will be back" he promised and ran off. She smiled and went to bath. After waiting for sometime and not seeing him, she assumed he was caught. As she lay down to sleep, she heard a light knock on the door. To her surprise, it was him clutching some pills in a med bag. He quickly entered her room before anyone saw him and locked the door. "Am sorry i didn't come back fast aunty. My mom caught me and i had to pretend like i caught a cold" he said looking at her pitifully. She smiled and ruffled his hair kindly "Aaron baby aunty is sorry for stressing you a lot. Aunty owes you a lot" she said softly. He shook his head "no no aunty, you didn't stress me and you don't owe me a dime" he said looking more adorable. They laughed in unison and began to gist like age mates. From him, she learnt that the old man was critically ill and in the hospital. She also learned about his dad and how Milicent made him divorce her because of her bad behaviours. He kept her company for close to an hour before leaving when he saw the drugs were taking effect and she had slept off. He searched her bag and couldn't find a blanket, so he snuck to his room and brought one for her. After covering her and was heading back to his room, he ran into his mom. "Where have you been Aaron?" She asked him suspiciously. "The garden" he lied nonchalantly. She narrowed her eyes at him "you don't usually stay out this long. That's by the way, Vicky said she saw you giving water to that b***h. Is that true?" She asked pulling his ear. His eye widened in false shock "that girl is a liar! I didn't give aunty....i mean Anabel anything. I didn't even go close to her." He lied. She nodded in satisfaction "she is evil and a gold digger. Don't get close to her if not she will impact you negatively." She warned and bid him good night. Aaron shook his head. From his discussions with her that evening, he realized she is kind hearted, beautiful and intelligent. "Uncle Johnson is so blind" he muttered, and shrugged his shoulders. The next morning, Anabel woke up feeling much better and wrapped in a warm, cute blue blanket. "That Aaron will make such a good husband" she mused to herself and went into the the bathroom. To her shock, her tap had been fixed and there was a letter from Aaron in the bathtub. It read: "Dear aunty, sorry for coming into your room without your permission. You didn't lock your room last night. Its not good aunty, most people don't like you here so keep it locked when you sleep okay? As for the tap, i have two in my room, so i broke one and fixed it for you. Hope you feel better this morning. Good morning aunty! From Aaron....... Tears welled in her eyes, only heavens knows how she would have survived if this angel in form of a boy didn't come her way. She had a bath and and went back to the room. Her stomach growled loudly. She checked the time and it was past nine in the morning. After dressing up, she was about going out to look for something to eat, there was a soft knock on the door. It was Aaron clutching two large bags of different variety of snacks and drinks. "Hello aunty!" He greeted beaming with smiles looking so cute. He dropped the bags and hugged her as she closed the door. "Good morning my big husband. How was your night?" She asked cuddling him affectionately. "It was fine aunty! I missed you" he said hugging her tightly. She smiled warmly, they hugged for awhile and separated. "We have had breakfast aunty. So i brought this for you, they didn't plan on inviting you to the dining though. Assuming you went, they were planning to humiliate you" he sadly feeling pity for her. She smiled "its okay hubby, this stock you brought will last me a week" she teased and began to eat, while he kept her company and they discussed. By the time his mom began to look for him, it was close to mid day and he quietly sneaked to the garden and his mom found him there. Feeling lonely and bored, she decided to scroll the media. On i********:, she came across Becky's page. Indeed she was having a swell time with Johnson who took her around the city. Tears spilled from her eyes, all the years she spent with him, he never took her even for a drive! He didn't allow her follow him to or attend social events. He didn't even let her work or make friends! She was partially a prisoner, yet she stayed determined to make things work out. Yet he took Becky anywhere she wanted, even driving her there himself. They even kissed and caressed, going all lovey dovey online. There was even a video of them on the beach, while he chased her around. They looked so happy together and it made her jealous. But still, he killed her baby! Although she didn't know if it was him that told the maids to do so, he is a murderer! He killed a poor, harmless and innocent little guy. In fact that baby had a strong will to live. Despite all beatings he gave her when he found out was pregnant, the baby survived. Until they went to the extreme and gave her drugs. What exactly was her offence? Is it a crime to love? Thinking about this made her feel sorry for herself, her parents and the poor baby. But there is no medicine for regret in this world. She could only cry to reduce the heaviness in her heart.
