Logan's POV
The moment the football hit the goalpost, the crowd cheered in jubilation as the whistle blew loudly through the field. The game was over. And… I lost. Our team lost.
James had just scored the last goal, moving our 3 against 3 tie to a 4 against 3. He won just like he bragged he would. I had underestimated him and now I had to do as he said.
“f**k!” I cussed in anger without caring if anyone was watching as I ran out of the field.
I didn't like how this had turned out because I definitely didn't want to be James's omega slave, or whatever the f**k he called it.
Making my way to the locker room, I threw my headband off and kicked my shoes somewhere across the room as I placed my head over my head.
Our school had four different football teams. I was the captain of mine, and James was the captain of his. No one genuinely cared about the rest of the teams, mostly because of my rivalry with James. It was “fun” to see us bicker all the time.
And for the first time in a while, I lost to him.
“Aww, sulking already, Captain?” I heard his awful voice and I raised my head to see him standing by the door with a smirk on his face.
“I won't be your slave.” I spat but he tsked, his eyes glistening with mischief as he approached me and crouched to meet my gaze.
“You don't have a choice. You lost and the deal stated that when I win, you become my omega slave—”
“I don't care about the deal!” I yelled, standing up and he scoffed, rising as well. “I told you, stop calling me that.”
“You don't care about the deal? Then you won't mind me telling everyone that you're a weak, pathetic, and desperate omega? A wannabe alpha who's nothing but a pretentious weakling?” He muttered with a grin on his face and I lost my mind at that moment as I swung at him.
My hand came in contact with his jaw and he stumbled backward, a smirk forming on his face as he stared at me in amusement.
“What do you want from me?” I questioned, heaving in frustration. “Why are you doing this to me?”
“Because I hate you. And I want to see you beg for your freedom.” James spat, approaching me with a scary expression that had me backing away. “I've always hated you since you showed and tried to be better than me. Everyone was all about the new, mysterious “alpha”. I want to crush your spirit, Logan.”
“You're sick,” I whispered, my heart pounding harshly in my chest and he chuckled.
“I am. I'm not denying it. But you're stuck with this sick psycho now, aren't you?” He asked, his finger tilting my head to stare at him. “I can't wait to watch you do everything to keep your secret. Remember, a deal is a deal, Logan. I won, so you have no choice but to obey me. Right?”
I gritted my teeth in anger as I looked away from him but he gripped my chin harshly, not enough to sting but enough for me to know he's in charge.
“Am I right, Logan?” He asked again, his lips curved into a sick grin and I gulped, his pheromones surrounding me.
“Yes,” I whispered and he chuckled in satisfaction before pulling away.
“Good boy. You're mine now, pretty little thing.” He grinned as he stepped away from me. “Meet me in my room tonight. And do not be late. See you at 7.” He added with a happy smile and the moment he walked out of the locker room, I slid to the ground.
Just when I thought my life couldn't get any worse, it became an absolute nightmare.
Burying my head in my hands, I resisted the urge to cry. It couldn't be as bad as I thought it was. It was going to be okay. I had to reassure myself that or I would be losing my mind.
I managed to push myself off the ground and made my way to my dorm without taking a bath. I totally ignored the rest of my team members who wanted to speak to me and they would probably think it was because I lost.
But it was worse than that.
As soon as I walked in, I slumped to my bed and curled into a ball, regretting my life decisions. I still didn't buy my inhibitors, but thanks to that asshole’s pheromones, my scent was regulated.
I had no idea when I fell asleep but by the time I woke up, it was already dark. I instantly glanced at the clock and saw that it was already past nine.
“s**t,” I mumbled in concern as I got up, and just then, my roommate walked in, a tired look on his face.
“You're finally awake,” Owen muttered as he made his way to his closet and I watched in confusion while he started to pack his things.
“What are you doing?” I questioned and he glanced at me.
“Packing my things as you can see. I've been ordered to move into another room by the dean.” He stated simply and my brows furrowed in confusion.
“Why?” I asked, genuinely confused and he shrugged. “Was there a mix-up or something?”
“I don't know, Logan. Maybe you said something to the Dean, I don't know. But if you wanted me to leave, you could have just said so. I didn't like you as a roommate either.” He replied in annoyance and I froze.
“You think I wanted you out or something?” I asked in disbelief. “Why would I do that? We've been roomies for over a year!”
“I don't know! And I don't care!” He replied in anger and I flinched. “You're getting a new roommate anyway so I'm moving in with someone else. Good luck with him.”
“Wait, who?”
He didn't respond to me anymore as he packed up his things and left the dorm, leaving me in sheer confusion. It was already late, and I couldn't go to the dean's office, so all I could do was sit back in my bed, wondering why Owen was suddenly asked to leave.
The door suddenly burst open and I flinched at the sound as I shot up from my bed. The moment I saw James standing outside my dorm with his luggage and bags in his hands, I stiffened.
“What the f**k are you doing here?” I asked in disbelief as he made his way inside like it belonged to him and he snorted.
“What do you mean?” He asked nonchalantly. “I'm simply moving to my room. Don't be such a brat about it.” He added and I gaped at him in disbelief.
“You're my new roommate?”
“News flash, Logan. Try to always keep up. Don't be so slow.” He muttered and I blinked in confusion.
“Oh hell no. This is impossible. I need Owen back, I do not want you here.” I said in fury as I made my way to the door but before I could open it, he slammed it shut and pinned me to it.
“You keep forgetting that you don't have a choice, right?” He asked with raised brows and I froze. “You made me do this. I wouldn't have had to send your beloved Owen out if you came like I asked you to.” He whispered and my eyes widened in realization.
“You… You did this?”
