It Gets Better

Chapter 3 Part 2

The next forty minutes consisted of Sero getting shot by Mina; and Izu and Tsu shot Ida and Todoroki. I ended up getting separated from Sero, so I was by myself. I kept making turn after turn and I knew I was lost when I saw the same wall three times in a row. “Damnit!” I said to myself. It was dark in here so you could see the laser’s, but it didn’t help when you are trying to navigate the area. I was about to keep walking when I heard footsteps from behind me.

I turned around and slowly backed up until I hit the wall. I was able to see a big open area to my left and I couldn’t help but look. The footsteps headed towards the area and out came Todoroki. I hid so I wasn’t able to be seen if he looked over here. On the other side of the area, Sero walked out and immediately tried to shoot Todoroki. They dodged left and right as they fought against each other.

I slowly put my gun on the edge and kept it focused in one spot. After a good five minutes of them dodging each other, Sero dropper his gun and was cornered. I took aim and watched as Todoroki started talking. “You put up a good fight, but now I can shoot you. Your cornered.” Just as he started to pull the trigger, his gear sounded off. “Player hit, 15 seconds until you can fire again.” He looked at Sero who still didn’t have a gun.

Not wasting any time, I jumped out and headed towards Sero. I grabbed his gun, then grabbed Sero’s arm as I ran towards the opening to leave the open area. I gave a smile to Todoroki as I ran by and made a right turn. I saw a smirk on his face as I ran by, so I knew he knows I was the one to hit him. I tried to get as far away from there as possible. I made a left turn and saw that Deku was about to shoot Ida when the intercom sounded off. “All players! Please head to the green glowing exit! The game has ended! Again, please head to the exit! The game has ended!”

With that, everyone started taking their gear off as they headed to the exit. “Thanks for the save back there.” Sero said. “Anytime man. I want you on my team all the time. You’re pretty good.” I said. “Thanks. You’re not bad yourself. Killer shot with the sniper. You use it a lot?” “Not really. But it is one of my favorite guns to use.” I told him.

“Cool.” He said. We met up with everyone and started talking about how the game went. “How did you manage to not get shot at all?” Mina asked. “I just played dodge ball a lot when I was younger. Plus, I know how to sneak around.” I said. That was a lie, I trained myself so that I could dodge bullets in case I was held at gunpoint. But I couldn’t tell them that.

“Yeah, that was a great high shot you pulled when you shot me.” Todoroki said. “Well thank you. Nice to know I can still hit my mark.” I said. He smiled and started talking to Izu with his blank look. When we headed towards the other arcade games when I spotted Denki and Shinso in the corner. Shinso had a red face with his mouth open and Denki also had a red face and was talking. Thinking to leave them be, I steered us away from them and looked for Firework and Kiri.

A few seconds later, I spotted my best friend very close to exploding the strength tester. I quickly ran over and stopped him. “Dude, what the hell you can’t do that! You could get us kicked out.” I said. “This thing is lying! I do not have the strength of an old hag!” he glared at the game with hatred in his eyes. I let out a laugh and said, “That’s all? You do know these things are supposed to do that right?” He let out a growl and looked at me. “What did you end up doing?” “I played laser tag. Sero, Izu, and Tsu were on my team while Mina, Todoroki, Ida, and Uraraka were on another. My team won though.”

“Nice.” He said. I was about to say something else when Shinso and Denki came over. “Hey guys! We have something to tell you.” Denki said. Thinking about what I saw earlier, I had a big smile on my face as we turned towards them. Knowing he had everyone’s attention, he looked at Shinso who gave him a nod and started talking. “I just wanted you guys to know that……..me and Shi-Hitoshi are dating.” Everyone was quiet for a few seconds before we heard a loud squeal.

Everyone looked at Mina who was jumping up and down before she ran and hugged Denki. “You must give me all the details! When, how, who asked who?” she exclaimed. “Congrats Lightning Bug. You better be nice to him.” I said. Everyone else congratulated them and questioned how they got together. “Well, we just got done with the dance battle and since we were by ourselves, I decided it was now or never. I also couldn’t keep it a secret for much longer.” Denki explained.

The both of them had a blush on their face and it was so cute to see. I walked over to Shinso and said, “Congrats Sleepy Cat. How’s it feel?” “Like a dream…..I didn’t think he liked me back.” He said with a smile as he looked at Denki. “Well……then you were oblivious because I could tell from the first time I saw you two interact.” I said to him with a smirk on my face. “Really?” he asked.

“Well yeah. I am guessing he confessed first?” “Yeah. He grabbed my hand when we were done with the dance battle and dragged me to the corner. I saw that his face was red, so I just thought he was too hot in here but then he started confessing and then my face turned red, and I confessed too. I asked him out and he said yes and hugged me.” He smiled. This is the most I have ever seen him smile. I know I’ve only known him for a few days, but I know he doesn’t smile a lot.

“Okay everyone, I am sorry to end this lovely day, but we must get back to U.A. before we are late for curfew.” Ida said. “Hey, where are we exactly?” I asked. “We are on XXX street. Why?” Izu said. “Hey, I have a question, do you, Firework and Shinso want to see my parents? They are not far from here.” “Um, are you sure?” Shinso asked. I know he knows what happened to them so I can tell he is confused.

“Yeah, I am. Do you want to come with me?” I said. “Hell yeah! Deku is coming too.” Firework said. I gave him a smile and looked towards Shinso. “Yeah I will come, just let me tell Denks.” He said. I gave him a nod and he left. “You want us to see Auntie and Uncle?” Izu asked me. “Yeah, there aren’t far from here. I want you to see them.” I said.

“Can I meet them?” I heard from behind me. I turned around to see who asked when I saw red and white hair. ‘What the f**k?’ I thought. Before I could say anything, Bakugo beat me to it. “Why the f**k do you want to come?” He really doesn’t hold his punches. “Because I believe….. it’s good to…….. meet my classmates…..parents?” he said like he was trying to come up with something.

‘Do I really want him to come with us? No, but it’s not like I can keep the fact that my parents are dead a secret forever.’ With that in mind, I let out a sigh and nodded my head. I heard him let out a sigh of relief as Kat started asking why I let him. “It’s not like I can keep it to myself forever. Everyone is bound to find out at some point. And at least he asked instead of following me.” I told him.

With that, Kat, Izu, Shinso, and Todoroki followed me as I lead them to the graveyard. I stopped at a flower shop and bought some fake flowers to put on my mom’s grave and some lily’s for my dad. My mom liked fake flowers so that is why I didn’t get real ones for her. I saw everyone else do the same. Todoroki looked confused as he picked out the most expensive ones and bought them.

I rolled my eyes and lead them to the gates of the graveyard. “This is where my parents are.” I saw realization dawn on Todoroki’s face as he looked at the graves everywhere. I walked on until I finally stopped at my parents gravestones. I set the fake flowers over my mom’s grave and the lily’s over my dad’s.

“Hey mom and dad. I brought some people with me this time. I hope you don’t mind.” I said. “Hey Auntie and Uncle, it’s Katsuki. It’s been a while and I hope you are doing well now.” Firework said. “I’m Shinso, a new friend of Akiyama’s. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” “Hey Auntie and Uncle. Its Izuku. Kacchan, Shinso and I will take care of Akiyama for you. I hope you are doing well.” “Hello Mr. and Mrs. Akiyama. My name is Shoto Todoroki, I am also a new friend of your daughters. Nice to meet you.” They said.

I gave them a smile and sat on my knees with my eyes closed as I gave a silent prayer. Once I was done, I opened my eyes and saw that they were all doing the same thing. I smiled a little knowing that they wanted to talk to them. “I know that I haven’t stayed long, but we have to get going so we aren’t late for curfew. I will visit again next week to tell you all about being in U.A. and my new friends. I promise.” I said after they were done.

Firework and Izu threw an arm around my shoulder and walked on either side of me as we walked out of the cemetery and back to the school. “Thank you for bringing us to see your parents.” Shinso said. “No problem. I thought you would like to see them.” “I will thank you along with Shinso for letting us meet your parents. I am glad that you allowed me.” Todoroki said. “No problem Ice Prince. I am just glad that you asked instead of following me.” I told him.

“I am not a prince.” “No but you are rich so it’s close enough.” I said with a smile. He rolled his eyes with a small smile and continued walking. We all just conversed about random things until we walked into the dorm building. “Hey guys! How did it go?” Denki asked as he walked over. “It went well.” Shinso said. I just smiled and walked to the kitchen with Firework and Izu still hanging on my shoulders. They parted once we entered, and I got myself a cup of water as Firework spoke up. “So, how far have you gotten on your Hero project? We are done already.”

I rolled my eyes and said, “Of course your done already. You guys fanboy over All Might like no tomorrow so of course you are already done. We haven’t finished yet, actually, we are still going over the basics for the report.” “Which Hero did you chose?” he asked me. “Well, we decided it’s a secret. You won’t know until the day of.” I said with a smile. He just rolled his eyes as Izu asked, “Are we going to continue tonight or tomorrow? Do you still need some time?” “No, I don’t. Its only about eight forty-five right now so we should be good for a bit. Let me ask Shinso.” I said and got my phone out.

After I sent the text, I got an immediate reply saying tonight is fine. I sent another one saying to meet me at my dorm to which I got a thumbs up. “Well, I guess get a drink then head up to my dorm. Tonight is gonna be a night.” I told Izu and Firework as I headed to the elevator. They followed me in, and we waited for the fourth floor.

Once the doors opened, we went to my dorm and saw Shinso waiting outside. “Ready for part two?” I asked him. “How can you joke about this stuff like that?” he asked me. “It’s not so much joking around as it’s my way of not bawling my eyes out. If I start crying, I won’t be able to say a word. So it’s better to tell it like it wasn’t me and try to pretend it never happened. It’s my way of comforting myself.” I explained. He just nodded his head and followed us inside.

We took the same positions as before, knowing it was the only way we all could be comfortable really. I took a deep breath before asking, “Okay, where did I leave off?” “The fire haired dude came to the cell.” Firework said. “Oh, that part……”
