It Gets Better

Chapter 3 Part 1

(Bakugo’s P.O.V.)

*Ring Ring Ring*

I woke up the next morning to my stupid ass alarm sounding off. I threw the covers off of me and made the bed. Then I grabbed my uniform, changed, then brushed my teeth and headed out the door. I could smell the faint scent of smoke in the air. ‘Damn Icy-hot, probably set something on fire again.’ I thought as I was in the elevator.

When it dinged signaling that I had reached the first floor, I stepped out and headed in the kitchen to make something for breakfast. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed something, or someone, on the couch. I slowly walked over to see that Kii was sleeping on the couch. ‘What the hell?’ I thought.

(Kiiarda’s P.O.V.)

“Arda...Kii...KIIARDA WAKE THE f**k UP!” someone screamed. “What the f**k do you want?” I said, my voice a little low from just waking up. At least I didn’t have a nightmare this time. “To know why you are sleeping on the couch, when your bed is on the fourth f*****g floor.” The person, who I now realize is Bakugo, said.

“Umm... I have a question before I answer that.” I said. He stayed silent so I took that as my que to ask, “If something caught on fire, or was burning in one of the dorms, the fire and smoke alarms would go off right?” “No, because some of us have quirks that can easily cause a fire, or like Icy-Hot whose other quirk is actually fire, our teacher disables them for all 1-A dorms......Why?”

“Um, well, let’s just say that I had a nightmare, and my quirk may have activated in my sleep. So now my bed is in ashes, and I have to get a new one after school today.” I told him. “Why the hell didn’t you wake me up or something?” He yelled at me. “Well excuse me if it was three in the f*****g morning and I know how you are when you get woken up early in the morning!” I screamed back.

“Okay fine, but the next time it happens, let me know, since I am right across from you, and you can sleep in my room. Or get Deku or just get someone so you’re not alone.” He said. I looked at him to see his signature scowl on his face, but his eyes showed concern. I know he’s worried, but I can’t drag people into my problems. “Fine, I will tell someone the next time it happens.” “Promise?” he asked. “Sigh…Promise.” I said reluctantly.

He nodded his head and got two bowls out. I got some cereal and poured it into both bowls as he grabbed the milk and poured it in. I grabbed two spoons and gave one to him as I grabbed my bowl and headed to the table. As he both sat down and started to eat, I heard what sounded like people running down the stairs.

I glanced over at Kat to see that he had a small smirk on his face. Like the kind of smirk he has when he did something. I gave him a questioning look to which he just said, “You’ll see.” I rolled my eyes and saw as several people ran out of the elevator as well as the stairwell. “Bakugo what are you doing? It’s five minutes left until class start! We have to hurry!” Denki said. A bunch of others nodded their heads in agreement.

“No, it’s not. We have about thirty minutes until class starts.” “What do you mean Bakubro? Our phones say we have five, well four, minutes now.” Kirishima asked. “Easy.” Kat said. Everyone looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean easy?” Denki asked. “I took your phones yesterday while you weren’t paying attention and changed the times on your phones ahead thirty minutes. Seems as you all don’t like to be on time anymore, I decided it was time to get all your asses in gear. It was payback for setting my alarms an hour late last week.”

“Oh, come on! I wanted to sleep!” Sero said. “You extras can sleep at night. Not now.” Bakugo said. “Akiyama, how are you not upset at him for this?” Mina asked me. “Because he didn’t change the time on my phone. And even if he did, I wouldn’t have heard it because I wasn’t near my phone. I wake up early anyway.” I told them.

I heard a few groans, and some people say something about favoritism. I gave a small smile and washed my dish since I was done eating breakfast. I went to my dorm, changed into my uniform, brushed my hair and teeth, then headed back down so I could make my way to the classroom.

Once I walked through the door, I walked over to my seat and waited for the rest of the people to show up. About two minutes later the whole ‘Bakusquad’ showed up along with everyone else. Deciding that it was time to head to class, I got up and walked out the door. The walk to the classroom was a little lonely but I didn’t mind it too much. Once I arrived, I sat down in my seat and waited for class to begin.

Once class started, I took notes, paying attention to every word that Mr. Aizawa was saying. Halfway through, I got bored as he was going over stuff I already knew. So instead of paying attention, I started making a small list of stuff I had to get when I go shopping later.

A little later, the bell rang signaling the end of first period. After I picked up all my stuff, I grabbed my bag and headed to the next class. Bakugo walked beside me and asked, “When are you planning to get a new bed?” “Later today when I go shopping, why?” I said. “Just wondering if you were going to sleep on the couch again.”

I was going to reply when Denki popped up beside me. “Hey Akiyama! Say, the Bakusquad is planning on going to the mall today, wanna come?” “Sure Denki.” I replied. “Since when was this decided!” Bakugo yelled at Denki. “While you were talking with her. Also, since she’s coming, you are obviously going to come.”

“Denki’s right Bakubro!” Kirishima said from behind Denki. “Hey, why don’t we invite the Dekusquad?” I asked as I looked at Kirishima and Mina. Mina was the first one to catch on and said, “Yeah! I will go ask him now! Hey Midoriya!” as she walked over to Izuku.

Meanwhile, I walked over Shinso and said, “Hey, I have a question.” The only response I got was him moving his head a little and looking at me before going back to the walkway in front of him. “The Bakusquad, Dekusquad, and I are going to the mall later. I think Denki might be planning on going to the Arcade as well. Wanna come with us?” I asked him.

“I’ve got nothing better to do.” He said but I could see the hint of a smile on his face. I nodded my head and shouted, “Hey Denki, Shinso is coming too!” I saw a big smile appear on Denki’s face as he gave a thumbs up. Okay, he is totally in love with Shinso. I thought as we made it to the classroom door.

*Time skip to the end of the day*

Once the final bell rung, I was about to head out the door when Mr. Hizashi called me up. When I went in front of him, I asked, “What did you need sir?” “Well, I just wanted to know how well you are adjusting to classes and everything. Are you doing okay?” he said. “Yes sir, I am doing fine. I like it here.” I told him. “Well, that’s good. Remember that if you need anything, just let me or one of the teachers know. Okay?” He said. I nodded my head and headed out the door.

When I got to the dorms, I saw Kirishima, Mina, Sero and Uraraka. “Hey guys!” I said. “Hey Akiyama! Everyone is getting changed before we head out.” Kirishima said. “Okay, I will too and meet you all down here.” I said as I walked to the stairwell.

Once I walked up the stairs, I exited to my floor and walked to my room. I went over to my closet and looked through my cloths. I picked out a dark red T-shirt that had white wolves on it, a black jacket that had ‘Pepsi’ written on the front, and a pair of pants that fit just right and showed off my hips a bit. Once that was done, I brushed my hair, teeth, and made sure my necklace was under my shirt. Once I was sure I looked nice enough, I put my shoes on, walked out, and went down the stairs.

When I arrived in the living room, I saw everyone there. “Hey guys, sorry I took so long.” I said as I walked over. They all looked at me and Kirishima said, “It’s no problem, most of them just got here.” I nodded my head and stood next to Shinso, who was in a conversation with Denki. “Okay, since we are all here, let’s go! Mall first, then we can go to the arcade!” Mina said. I heard a lot of cheers as we all exited the building and headed to the mall.

Thinking about my secret mission, I walked over to Mina and said, “Hey Mina. I have a tiny question for ya!” “Sure, what is it?” she asked. “Are you and Kirishima together?” I whispered in her ear. I leaned back and saw that her cheeks were a bit darker than normal, so I figured she was blushing. “N-no! We a-aren’t! W-what made you think that?” she said a bit loud. “I was just asking because I have seen the way you two look at each other. Do you like him?”

“Ummmm, well yeah, I do but I know he doesn’t like me like that. I think he has a thing for someone, but he hasn’t said anything.” She told me. I just gave her a ‘really’ look and said, “I will tell you right now. That ‘someone’ he has a thing for, is you. I see the way he looks at you and how he lights up when you talk to him or when he sees you. Trust me, he likes you.” She looked like she didn’t believe me. No, I know she doesn’t believe me. “I’d like to believe you, but I don’t want to get my hopes up.”

“Okay, but if you ever want to talk to someone, about boys or anything, let me know. I want to be a friend you can count on so just call me whenever.” I told her. She gave me a smile and walked ahead to where the rest of the Bakusquad was. I let a smile show on my face as we walked the rest of the way to the mall.

Once we arrived, everyone started debating on where to go. “Well, the first thing I got to do is head to a bed store thing. Where does everyone else want to go?” I said. “I will go with you. I burnt my bed practicing with my quirks again.” Todoroki said. I hear a few laughs as we all split up and decided we would meet up at the food court in an hour.

The walk to the bed place was silent. Not a word spoken until we reached the place. “What were you working on that made your bed catch fire?” I asked him. “I was working on freezing and melting random objects to have better control over my quirks. I’m still not as used to my fire quirk as I would like so I lost control a bit and my bed caught fire.” He explained.

I quickly looked for a suitable bed, or at least one that I liked. Once I found it, I looked for Todoroki to see if he found one. He surprised me by finding me first. “Akiyama, have you found one?” he asked. “Yes, I did. I found one that I like. Have you?” I spoke. “I just asked for the most expensive one they had.” He spoke. “Why the f**k would you do that?” I asked without thinking. “Because I have my dad’s credit card.” He stated.

“You bought a really expensive bed, just because you have your dad’s credit card?” Is that really his reasoning? “Yes. I can buy yours if you want. I think of it as a little way to get back at my dad. Let me buy the mattress for you. I have yet to reach a limit on his card so I want to see how much I can spend before it gets declined.” He offered. I just stood there thinking, ‘What the f**k?’ before I shrugged and said, “You know what, if you want to do that, then by all means, do what you want.” I spoke. He gave a small smile and went up to an associate to purchase it and have them deliver it to U.A.

“Thank you, Todoroki. For buying it for me.” I spoke. “Anything to use my dad’s credit card.” He spoke. I gave a small chuckle as we headed out the door. “Where to now?” I asked him. It’s only been 15 minutes, so we still had some time to kill. “I don’t know. I didn’t think we would be done that quick.” He spoke.

I looked around before spotting one of my favorite stores. “How about we go to that one!” He looked from me to the store before shrugging his shoulders. Excited, I grabbed his arm and rushed over. This store is known for having a ton of Hero merch. Knowing my way around the store, I immediately took us to the Underground Hero section.

My eyes scanned the shelves and racks for anything Eraserhead. A smile appeared on my face when I saw a shirt that had him on it. I also saw a pair of black sweatpants that looked like they had his capture weapon printed around it. They also had long scarves made to look like his and a sleeping eye mask that looked like his goggles. I got excited when I found a jacket styled just like his. They had a ton of other things from plateware to bed sheets and tons more.

“You like the teacher?” he asked. I had completely forgotten he was there since I was so focused on everything in front of me. “Um, well not romantically, but he is my favorite Hero ever. But please don’t tell him that! I couldn’t handle the embarrassment if he found out. He’s kind of my Idol.” I said with a little heat in my cheeks. “I won’t. What are you thinking about getting?” He asked looking at everything there was.

I thought for a solid 10 minutes looking around before deciding on the jacket, a scarf, and a few pins that I didn’t have. “I think I will go with this. Now, on to the spotlight Hero’s.” I said as I dragged him to the Pro Hero corner. I looked around for five minutes before getting frustrated. ‘What the hell happened to all the Present Mic stuff?’ I thought with a scowl on my face. I let out a huff as Todoroki asked me, “What’s wrong?”

“I can’t find any Present Mic stuff. It’s usually right here.” I said a little angry. “It’s over there in that corner.” He spoke. I looked to where he was pointing to see Mic’s Hero name above a few shelves. I squealed. Any angry vibes left me as I grabbed Todoroki’s hand and ran all the way to the other side of the store.

Once I reached my destination, I let go of his hand and started looking at everything. I picked up a few pins they had, sunglasses, a pair of pants and a pair of shoes. Happy with what I picked out, I turned to Todoroki with a big smile on my face and asked, “Okay, I am ready. I think. Are you getting anything?” “Uh no I um, no. Let’s go to the check out.” He said with a light blush on his cheeks as he started walking towards the checkout.

I stared at his back for a minute before shaking my head and following him. ‘What was that about?’ I thought as I waited in line behind him. When it got to my turn, I set everything down so the lady working the register could scan everything. Todoroki stepped away for a minute and came back with an All Might blanket. I gave him a smile as he put it with my stuff.

Not thinking anything of it, I turned to get my wallet out of my purse. When I finally found it, I turned back around to see Todoroki handing over his card. I was about to tell the lady no when Todoroki put his hand over my mouth. “Don’t listen to her. I am paying for everything.”

Me, being the child that I am, I licked his hand to which he took it away from my mouth and wiped it on his shirt with a little smile on his face. “Why? I can get this.” I said with my arms crossed. “Because I want to. Besides, it’s already paid for so let’s grab the bags so we can meet up with the others. I think they might be waiting on us.” He said and started grabbing the bags. I let out a huff as I grabbed the rest.

We walked out of the store, me with a small pout on my face, him with a blank look. I am beginning to think this blank look is normal for him. “Why do you look upset?” he asked me. I let out a sigh and explained, “Well, I just would have liked to buy my own things. But thank you for getting them for me. Let me know if there is anything I can do to repay you.” “Anything?” he asked.

“Sure.” I spoke. I saw his eyes gain a little glint, so I knew he thought of something. ‘What the hell did I just agree to?’ I thought to myself. “Not next week, but the week after Aizawa Sensi is holding parent teacher conferences. Unfortunately, since Endeavor is my father, he will be coming as well. I want you to go up to him and tell him you don’t like him. Maybe call him a b***h or something I don’t know. But if you do that in front of everyone, I will consider it repaid.” He spoke.

I couldn’t tell if he was joking or not but after a few minutes of him not saying anything else, I said, “Fine, I will do it. But you better get that s**t on video! I want to see it after they leave.” He nodded his head and we continued to make our way to the food court to meet our other friends. I saw Denki, Shinso, Mina, Kirishima, Ida, and Uraraka there already. “Hey guys!” Mina said when she spotted us.

“Hey Mina! Where did you guys go?” I asked. “We went to a croc sore for Kiri, Hot Topic for me, Denki, and Shinso, and I don’t know where Uraraka and Ida went.” She spoke. “Ida and I ended up going to a sneaker place for him and a candy store for me! I may have gotten a little hungry and bought more candy then I should have ha-ha.” Uraraka said with a smile and two bags filled with candy.

“Where else did you go? I thought it was only to the mattress store thing.” Kirishima asked noticing my other bags. “Oh, well since there was still some time, we went to a Hero merch store. Where are the others?” I said trying to change the topic so I wouldn’t have to admit who my favorite Hero was……again.

“Oh, well I think that Bakuhoe went to a weight shop. I know Sero went to a place that specialized in pranks. Um Tsu went to a reptile store, and I think Midoriya want to an All Might merch thing.” She said recounting where everyone ran off to. I nodded my head when heard someone from behind me. “Hey guys! I just hit the jackpot!”

I turned around to see that it was Sero, holding three bags filled with what I assume to be his ‘jackpot’ of pranks. Behind him was Midoriya and Tsu. “Now we’re just missing Bakugo.” Uraraka said. ‘I wonder where he is.’ I thought. Not a second later I heard him, “Why the f**k didn’t anyone tell me the meet time was f*****g earlier!”

‘That’s Bakugo.’ I thought with a smile. “Well look who decided to show up. Also, it wasn’t earlier. We just got done shopping before you.” I told him. “Whatever. I was just far away. You got everything you need?” he asked. “Yeah, the beds are being delivered to U.A. so I don’t have to worry about going back right now. When are we going to the arcade?”

“We can go now! I think everyone is done with shopping so we can head there, play for a few hours, then get back to U.A. before curfew. How does that sound?” Denki said. Everyone agreed so we all started heading to the arcade. “I hope there’s a clown ball toss! I tried to beat it the last time we went to an arcade, but I couldn’t hit the dumb clown.” I heard Mina say.

Soon enough we were all talking about different arcade games until we reached the arcade. Once we were all inside, Todoroki paid for all the cards and passed them out to everyone. “Guys, food is on me so order whatever you want!” I said. Most of them cheered and went to get stuff and put it on a tab so I could pay when we leave.

I saw Denki grab Shinso’s hand and drag him to the dance battle thing. Kirishima and Bakugo headed to the strength tester while the rest of us decided to play laser tag. “Alright, we need teams so who are gonna be the team captains?” I asked. “Well since you asked you can be a team leader. Mina can be one as well. You two will pick teams.” Ida said.

“Okay! Uraraka your on my team!” Mina said. “Tsu I want you on my team!” I said. “How come all the girls are picked first?” Sero whined. “Because girls are awesome! Sero you are on my team.” I told him. “I want Ida and Todoroki” Mina said. “Izu, that means you’re on my team. Let’s go get our gear now!” I shouted as I ran to where the laser tag guns are.

Everyone started looking at the different types and I took one that looked like a sniper rifle. Others picked out a pistol looking thing and headed towards the opening for the laser tag area. ”Deku, any ideas on how to beat their team?” I asked and he started explaining everything we could possibly do. ‘Okay maybe I shouldn’t have asked.’ I thought to myself.

Once we were allowed in the game, everyone on my team was blue, Mina’s was green. Mina’s team went in first, so we waited for the okay to go. “Okay ready to begin? 1, 2, 3 …….GO!” The announcer said through the intercom. All at once we spread out and started looking for those on Team Mina. “Uraraka can float so don’t forget to look up!” Deku said. “That’s good to know!” I replied. I was the only one who didn’t know who most other quirks were.

Deku stayed with Tsu while Sero stayed with me. “Remember no quirks are allowed so we have to deal without them. The only one that can use theirs is Uraraka because hers is not destructive. Any plans Sero?” I said. “Well Mina likes to keep everyone together and we should keep an ear out for Ida telling one of them to follow the rules. He’s pretty loud. I don’t know much about Todoroki, but they will probably stick together.” He explained. “Nice run down. It’s a good thing we split up then. Let’s go left.” I said as we came to a fork.

We turned left and made a right. I was about to go farther when Sero tapped my shoulder. I looked towards him about to ask hm what when I saw his finger on his lips. I nodded my head and he pointed to around the corner. I listened and realized that there were footsteps meaning that someone is heading this way. I looked at him with a smirk on my face and took my stance ready to fire. Sero took the same stance and we waited.

Soon enough, Ida and Mina came around the corner. We both took our shots and I let out a big grin when their gear sounded off saying they were hit. We both laughed as we rushed passed them trying to find the others on their team. We both looked left and right trying to find them. “Hey, I see Uraraka over there. Deku was right saying she would float. Let’s try to head that way.” Sero said. I agreed and followed him since he knows his way around the place.
