It Gets Better

Chapter 2 Part 2

I walked in with Bakugo and closed the door behind me. I let go of Bakugo and looked at Izu to see that he was looking at us with a confused expression. I gave him a small smile and said, “Hey Izu! I just came by to drop him off for a few minutes. There was something that he wanted to say.”

I then turned to Bakugo and said, “You can come find me when you’re done. I will be in my room by then so you two can meet me there. If you do not do it, I will embarrass you in front of the whole school. Okay?” He just nodded his head, so I walked out of the room and closed the door.

I turned to the two waiting outside and said, “Come on, in the elevator.” They followed me in and once the door closed, I started speaking. “Okay, Firework does in fact like Izu. Mina, did you find out anything?” “Yes! I got him to tell me that he does like Bakugo, but he doesn’t think that they could amount to any type of relationship based on things in the past and that he believes that Bakugo hates him.” She said.

“Well depending on how things go, Operation BakuDeku can be set in full swing.” I said. “Why exactly did you force Bakugo into Midoriya’s dorm? Did you push him to confess?” Kirishima asked me. “You know how they had a bad falling out in the past?” I asked them.

They nodded their heads, so I said, “Well, I did not push him to confess, but I did push him to apologize for whatever happened in the past. I also left the room because I know that it takes some time for Bakugo to actually start talking.”

“Well, at least we know they like each other. I wonder who else we could get together.” Mina said. I thought about it and there were a few people that I would put together. But enough of that, I got out of talking about my past for a bit so I am glad I can stall for a bit more.

“So, I have to go back to my room to finish on some homework I forgot to do. After I talk to them, I will let you know and we can begin the next phase, okay?” I said. In reality, I just had to prepare myself for what I was gonna tell them.

“Sure! I cannot wait till one of them asks the other out! I am gonna start placing bets and when they come out to the class, I will get a ton of money! Not only that, but they are so cute together! Okay, night Kiiarda! See ya in the mornin’!” Mina said as she waved goodbye. Kirishima waved goodbye and followed her with a big smile on his face.

Of course, that’s when it hits me. Those two make a cute couple. That will be a secret mission of mine. Hehe, this is fun.

Now that I am in my dorm, it is time to think about what I am going to tell Firework and Izu. I could just give them a little piece of what happened, or I can keep bargaining information with the both of them. It seems fair. They tell me little bits about their relationship, I will tell them about what happened.

I got so distracted in my thoughts that I didn’t hear the knocking on my door until it was slammed open. “What the hell took you so long? I was knocking on your door for 30 minutes!” Firework yelled. At least I know it was him. “Well, I am sorry if I was dreading this talk! I was trying to figure out how I am gonna tell you. It’s not exactly happy.” I said.

Firework closed and locked the door. “Okay, just so you know, I held up my end of the deal. I apologized and basically poured my fuckin heart out to him, and now I know he actually forgives me. Now you do your part and start explaining.” He stated. Okay then, there is no getting out of this at all now.

“Okay, first let’s sit on the bed or let’s just sit somewhere, it might take a while.” I said. We all ended up sitting on the bed. Me in the corner and them on the opposite side. Now that everything was settled, I guess it is time to start talking.

“Okay, so where exactly would you like me to start?” I asked. There are many ways to start it off. “How about you start with the last day we saw you. You had told us you would see us tomorrow and you never did.” Izu said. “I guess that’s as good a place to start as any………”

*Flashback*

“BYE IZU! BYE FIREWORK! SEE YOU TOMORROW!” I called out as I was leaving the playground. It only takes me a few minutes to walk home so before I knew it, I was already at the front gate.

‘That’s weird. Why is there a big truck in front of the house?’ I thought as I walked to the front door. I was about to open it when it when my mom came through. “Oh sweetie, your home. Good, now start grabbing boxes from inside and bring them to the truck. We are leaving today. Give me your phone, tablet, and anything else you use to talk to people with.”

I didn’t know why she told me to, but I listened anyway, not really understanding what was going on. I walked into my room and grabbed all the stuff and gave it to momma. The next thing she did was grab a hammer from the counter and then she started smashing everything. “MOMMY! WHY ARE YOU BREAKING EVERYTHING?!” I yelled.

“Because we have to move, and you cannot tell anyone. Not even Katsuki and Izuku. Help your father and me grab the rest of the boxes so we can get going.” I held my head down and nodded as I started bringing more boxes to the truck. Not much though since I was only 7 years old.

After everything was loaded into the truck and we got settled in the front, we drove off and headed to the airport. “Okay, let’s quickly get everything taken care of so we can leave. Kiiarda, I am sorry, but you can’t let anyone know we are moving. We are going to America, and we will be staying there. I know your upset but come on we have to go. Once we land, I can explain some things to you, but you have to wait until we land.” My mother said.

I just nodded my head and waited for everything to be taken care of. Once it was done, we boarded the plane and took our seats. “Just relax for a few hours, okay?” My dad told me. I just nodded my head and fell asleep.

I guess I was asleep the entire time because I woke up when people were getting off the plane. I got up and followed my parents as we got all our stuff. Mommy called someone to pick us up and when they arrived, we all got in the car and the person drove off.

After thirty minutes of driving, we arrived at a small house. “Alright sweetie, this is going to be our new home. Let’s unload everything and get settled in.” Mommy said. I nodded my head and started doing what I could to help unload the boxes.

Once everything was unloaded, it was about 10 o’clock at night. “Okay sweetie, It’s time for bed. Go to sleep in your new room and we will talk in the morning.” Daddy said. I just nodded my head and walked up the stairs. I opened my door and jumped face first on my bed.

After I plugged a lamp in, I turned it on and went to bed. The only thing on my mind being, ‘I don’t like this. I want to see Firework and Izu again. I miss them.’ Before I fell asleep hugging my pillow.

*Flashback Ended*

“The next morning, my mother told me that the reason for the move was because there were some people who were after us. They found out where we lived so we had to move. They were after my parents and since they found out about me, that made me a target. Before I get into what happened after that, I would like for one other person to be here. If he is gonna try to help, he must know what happened too. That way he knows what to do and what not to do.” I said.

“Fine, but who and why?” Bakugo asked. “You will see.” I said and grabbed my phone. I went to the contact labeled ‘Sleepy Cat’ and hit the call button. After a few rings, he picked up and said, “I don’t have time for life insurance, please don’t call me again.” “Wait, this isn’t a scam call! It’s Akiyama!” I said before he could hang up. “Oh, sorry, I forgot I gave you my number. Why are you calling?”

“Um, it’s concerning what Mr. Aizawa originally paired us up for. If you’re not busy, can you come to my dorm now? There are some things I feel like you should know.” I said. After a moment of silence, he answered with, “Sure, where is your dorm?” “It’s across from Blasty’s. Fourth floor.” I told him.

“Alright, see you in 5 minutes.” He said and hung up. “He will be here in 5 minutes.” I told Firework and Izu. “Why can’t we know who the f**k he is?” Katsuki asked. “Because you can wait and see.” I said. A minute later there was a knock on my door. I got up and opened my door to see Shinso. I stepped to the side to let him in and walked back to the bed after I locked the door.

“I didn’t know they were here as well. Are you sure you want to tell me? You just met me today.” Shinso asked. “I know. But, if we are to help each other like Mr. Aizawa wants, then you should know what happened.” I told him. He just nodded his head and sat on the bed with us.

I turned to Firework and said, “As for what you asked earlier, it’s because Mr. Aizawa actually paired us together to ‘help’ one another. I figured that even if I don’t want help, I will do it. There’s not much that can hurt me now anyway.” “The second that it gets too much, tell us and we can stop and continue another time. Okay?” he said. I just nodded my head and checked the time. It was only 9:00.

I gave a small rundown of what I already told Katsuki and Izuku. “Okay, so the first five months weren’t so bad besides me missing you two every day. It started getting worse when the sixth month began. I started feeling like I was being watched. Seven-and-a-half-year-old me didn’t think much of it because I thought I was just being paranoid. But a month later, I realized I was wrong….

*Flashback*

‘I wonder what time mommy will be back from work today?’ I thought on my way home from school. I still had a mile and a half to go before I reached the house. I was about to make a right turn when I glanced at the shops window. I could see a van on the window. I looked behind me to see that it was a few yards away from me.

‘The van looks familiar though. Where have I seen it?’ I thought as I continued my way home. After a minute or two, I realized where I had seen it. ‘It was by my school yesterday and the days before. It was also there when we went to the stores. Oh my god…...it’s following me!’

I took a little peak behind me to see that it was only two or three yards behind me. I turned back around and ran as I heard it rev its engine. ‘Okay, just got to make it to the hou-‘ my thought process was interrupted by my wing being pulled. Next thing I know, a piece of cloth is covering my mouth, and a blind fold is placed on my eyes. I felt my vision going so I tried to fight it but in the end I couldn’t, and I blacked out.

When I woke up, I was in what looked like a jail cell. ‘Where the heck am I?’ I thought. I looked around to see that I wasn’t the only one here. There were other kids around the same age as me here to. We all were in our own cell. I went to get up only to see that I had chains on my wrists. I looked behind me to see my wings weren’t there.

I looked back in front and tried to use my fire quirk to melt the chains……. but nothing happened. I tried again and still, nothing happened. I was about to get up when I heard footsteps. I stayed still and only used my eyes to look at who it was. My dad always told me that if I ever got in an unfamiliar situation, to assess the situation first. Then figure out a plan to get away. And if I can, save others while I am at it.

The person that stopped in front of my cell was tall. A bit built and had red and orange hair. It looked like fire on his head. “So, you’re finally awake huh?” he asked. I didn’t answer since I didn’t know what his quirk was, and I was too scared out of my mind to.

“Not gonna talk huh? That’s fine, you’ll scream soon.” He said and left. I was starting to freak out a bit more. Then I remembered what my mom and dad told me before. I reached my hand up to feel my neck to see that I still had the necklace they gave me.

When my parents gave this to me, they told me that as long as I wore it, they could always find me. My necklace was a black stone. The stone and the chain are waterproof so I could wear it in the shower and not worry about it getting ruined. My mom has the same necklace, and my dad has the same stone on a bracelet. They said that as long as we had them, we would never be separated.

I held on tight to the stone in my hand as I waited to see what was going on. I have a really bad feeling about what is to come. Little did I know just how bad it would be in just three days.

*Time skip to Three Days Later*

For the past three days, there have been a number of people coming to my cell. They all tried to touch me and do stuff but before any of them could get close, I would use my feet to keep them away. They started just watching me after I knocked out three guys after kicking them in the head. ‘Thank All Might my dad had worked with me in self-defense.’ I thought to myself.

There is always a guard by my cell watching me. I haven’t slept since I woke up to the first guy. I am at the point where I can feel myself on the verge of collapsing.

*BOOM*

‘What the hell was that?’ I thought as I snapped out of my dazed state. I could see to the other side of the building from the corner I was in. Smoke was coming from one of the walls that looked to be destroyed. A second later, I saw two people I didn’t think would walk through.

There were my mom and dad running around to try and find me while unlocking different cells. “MOM! DAD!” I screamed to get their attention. They both looked at me and started running towards me. “It’s a good thing we put trackers in the jewelry!” I heard dad tell mom. ‘So that’s how they could find me. A tracker was in my necklace!’

My relief was short lived because as soon as they got close to my cell, they were shot. “NOOOOOO!” I screamed as I watched them hit the floor. The both of them were shot in the stomach and were bleeding out on the floor. I rushed to that side of the cell but was a couple inches short because of the chains on me.

“M-mom, D-dad!” I said. My mom reached over and took dads bracelet off. Then she took her necklace off and threw both of them at me. I glanced at them before I looked at my parents. “We are s-sorry we couldn’t get you o-out sweetie.” My mom said with tears as the lights left her eyes. “Just know we l-love you Kiiarda. A-always…...” my dad said before grabbing my mom's hand and taking his final breath.

“I love you too.” I whispered as I stuffed the bracelet and necklace into a secrete pocket in my jacket. I turned around and sat in the corner as I cried my eyes out. I looked up when I heard footsteps to see the guys from before in front of my cell. Then the guy with red and orange hair had a smile on his face as he spoke. “Hello again little girl.”

*Flashback Ended*

“That day, everything changed.” I said as I looked down at my hands. I didn’t hear them say anything, so I looked up to see them with their faces frozen. “How the f**k are you not bawling your f*****g eyes out?” Katsuki asked. I gave an empty laugh and said, “A s**t ton of self-control. And a few years’ worth experience of suppressing my emotions. Well, at least the urge to cry.” “Auntie and Uncle are g-gone?” Izu asked.

I nodded my head and looked down. The next second, I was tackled into a hug by Izuku as he was crying. It took me a second before I hugged back. Then two more pairs of arms wrapped around me. Being with my old friends, and my new one, the crying I was trying to suppress came up.

It was a few seconds before the damn busted and the tears came rushing down my face. I looked like Izuku with the waterfall tears coming down my face. After what felt like a few seconds, but was really 30 minutes, everyone let go and went back to their seats. “Umm, I think that is enough for now.” I said.

“What do you mean for now? There’s more?” Firework asked. “How do you think I got here? Besides, we have school tomorrow so we should get some sleep. Its 12:30 in the morning.” I said.

All three of them nodded and started to get up. “If you need to release your emotions, just call one of us. We will make the time.” Izu said. Firework and Shinso nodded in agreement. “Thank you, all of you.” I told them. “No problem. Just let me know if you need anything, anything at all.” Shinso said. I nodded my head and said, “Well, before it gets too late, goodnight. I will see you all tomorrow.”

“Night Kii.” “Night Akiyama.” “Goodnight Kiiarda.” They all said as they walked out my door. I Got underneath the covers and rolled onto my side. I took a few deep breaths so I could calm down a little bit more so I could fall asleep. Next thing I know, I was called into the land of sleep.

*Time skip to three in the morning*

I was running through the abandon building again. Gunshots rang out causing a ringing in my ears. I could smell the smoke in the air as the fire destroyed everything around me. I looked around to see my parents in front of me. Their bodies being burned by the flames.

I looked behind me to see the red and orange haired guy. “We will find you.” he said as he started reaching towards me. I was frozen to the spot, unable to move. A smile grew on his face as he realized it. “Don’t worry......Once you are back here, I wil-”

I quickly sat up and put my hand over my heart. My breathing was shaky, and my heart was racing. Then I smelled smoke. I looked around to see that I was on the floor with ashes surrounding me. Great, now I don’t have a bed. I really need to gain control, so my quirk doesn’t activate when I have a nightmare. I took deep breaths to calm my breathing as I looked around to see if anything else burned.

At least my bed was the only thing to burn. I walked over to my closet, grabbed a pillow and a blanket, and walked out of my dorm. I walked down the hall and into the elevator. I pressed the first-floor button and waited until I had reached the bottom.

Once the doors opened, I walked out and went to the living room and threw my stuff on the couch. I fixed the pillow as I got under the blanket and made myself comfortable. ‘Great, now I have to get a new bed tomorrow.’ were my last thoughts before I fell into a dreamless sleep.
