Chapter 14Once the situation at the wizard stronghold had been sorted out to the best of their ability, Troy was eager to get his Company back together, and back where they belonged—in The Cities. Once the women and children were resettled in their villages with enough coin to ease their way, the surviving fighters were either hanged for what they’d done or released. Several had asked to join Troy’s Company, and after thinking about it he decided to recruit them, subject to the usual probationary period. Most of them had had no idea about the nature of the guard job when they’d taken it on, and were eager to be real mercenaries.
