Chapter 19

2238 Words
Author POV: As Tristan sat in his office waiting on Arthur’s arrival, Arthur was driving to his mansion…still wondering what Tristan wanted to talk about. He surely wasn’t dumb and realized that whatever conversation they were gonna have, wouldn't be too pleasant, based off his tone used with him. Now that Tristan knew almost everything, he couldn’t wait to unleash his rage. Arthur had lied to him, and he wanted to know why. Around ten to fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on Tristan’s office door. “Come in.” He called. The door opened and Arthur walked inside. “Hello, cousin.” Arthur greeted him, but he gave no formalities back. ”Sit, Arthur.” Tristan told him in a cold tone. Arthur swallowed and sat down in the chair across from him. “What is it that you want to tell me?” Tristan refrained from throwing punches on his face as he started speaking. ”You lied to me, Arthur.” Tristan gritted. Arthur immediatly knew where this conversation was going, and the outcome wouldn’t be too pretty. Actually, it wouldn’t be pretty at all. “Technically….but not exactly.” Arthur replied. Tristan clenched his jaw and fisted his knuckles angrily as he waited for Arthur to clarify what he meant by that. ”I just didn’t tell you the truth….but I didn’t lie.” “Yes, Arthur. You did lie to me. You think I didn’t see how you reacted to the letter? You think I didn’t know about your trip to Manchester? I knew it all…..and you knew where she was all along. But you lied and said you didn’t. Why?” He asked him, feeling betrayed by the only cousin who didn’t bully him as a kid. The same one who tried to step in and do good for others, the same one who vowed his loyalty and promised that he’d get the love of his life back. But instead, he hid her and lied about it. What kind of cousin does that? As Tristan was in thought about Arthur’s betrayal, he didn’t even realize his last thought came out loud. ”The kind of cousin who wants to protect the both of you.” Arthur voiced out his thoughts. Tristan snapped back into reality and stared back at him. “What could there possibly be that you…out of all people, would want or need to protect me from?” He stopped himself from laughing at the mere thought of it. ”Alina….” He replied. Tristan gave him a glare, pointing his finger at him as he spoke bitterly. “Never dare to put her in the middle of this and imply that she is someone I need protecting from.” Arthur sighed heavily. He wanted to explain everything to him, but didn’t want to reveal her secret to him. It wasn’t his secret to tell. He was just the one keeping it. ”No, not in that way….but she doesn’t want to see you right now, Tristan. There’s a reason why I didn’t tell you.” Tristan scoffed at him. “And why the hell wouldn’t she want to see me, Arthur…..?” Tristan gritted. He sighed again and ran a hand through his curly brown hair. “I can’t tell you what….but-“ Tristan stopped him from speaking. ”Enough with the goddamn secrets! I am tired of being left out of this f*****g loop that you two have created. You expect me to trust you when you are keeping secrets and lying to me?” Tristan was in disbelief at his cousins actions. ”No, I don’t…but Alina is the reason I can’t tell you. Maybe you should speak with her about it. It would make more sense if she told you about it herself, anyways.” Arthur said back. ”Well she’s not here to tell me anything, now is she? So how about you either bring her here right now, or tell me what this secrecy is all about?” Tristan said. With a sigh, Arthur just decided to tell him. He didn’t want to betray Alina, but it needed to be done. ”She’s pregnant.” Arthur blurted. The moment he spoke those words, Tristan‘s eyes widened. He wasn’t expecting him to say that, nor did he believe him. Getting up, he grabbed Arthur by his collar and punched him mercilessly. It wasn’t until he tried to say something, did he finally stop. ”I…I’m te-telling the tr-truth….” Arthur gasped out through his punches. Tristan took a step back and looked at his now bloody and bruised face. “You’re lying to me.“ ”No, Tristan….I’m not lying, it’s true. She’s pregnant….with your baby.” Arthur said again. Tristan couldn’t believe Arthur, even if he really was telling the truth. So he called his men. Arthur stared at him confusedly as he pulled out his phone and dialed a number, putting the phone up to his ear. But he gasped when he heard what Tristan was telling whoever the other person was. ”Check Arthur’s hiding place, Alina should be there. Get her and bring her to me, ASAP.” Tristan growled angrily on the phone. His men were quick to comply to him and promised that she’d be in front of him in less than twenty minutes. After he cut the call, he took long strides to the mini bar in the corner, where he poured him a glass of vodka. Walking back to his chair, he sat down and gulped the liquid down his throat. ”Are we going to talk about this?” Arthur suddenly said. Tristan looked up at him with blazing eyes. “Unless you want to die today, I would think not.” ”Like you said….Alina could tell it best. And if you’re telling the truth, it’ll show as well.” Arthur gulped nervously, not knowing what was coming next and what would happen when Alina would arrive. But they waited quietly for her arrival, the both of them deep in thought and not knowing how to feel, while Alina thought she was getting abducted again. ******************** Alina POV: I was asleep when I heard the door to the guest room open loudly. I sat up quickly, taking huge breaths as I looked in the direction of the door. I thought that it would be Arthur, but was scared when I saw about three bulky men in front of me. ”Who….who are y-you?” I stammered, scared that I was gonna be taken away to god knows where. ”Miss, we have been ordered to take you.” The man on the left spoke in a deep tone, not bothering to say who I was going to be taken to. I was beyond shocked at this horrible surprise, as I had just woken up from sleeping. I took huge breaths, trying to calm myself and assure that everything was gonna be fine. ”Wh-why me….?” I asked them. ”Boss has asked for you.” The same man said to me. But I was still confused as of who they were talking about. ”Who is yo-your….boss?” I asked. None of them answered this time, they just walked forward and proceeded to grab me from the bed….but not harshly. I wonder why they didn’t. Most abductions were harsh, maybe even being blindfolded, tied up or going unconscious…but these men didn’t look at me like they were about to take me to a viscous man who wanted to harm me, nor did they treat me harshly. They didn’t even both to stop me when I refused and tried to run from them. That made me wonder….who did they work for? And why were they being so gentle. They weren’t even mad that I tried to run, but quickly caught me before I could run out the door. After a while of kicking and refusing, I gave up and panted loudly as I watched myself being taken to a black limo. If I was still fully conscious, that car looked oddly familiar. The familiarity was even more present as I was sat down inside the back seat. I felt like I had been in here many times before. Just then when I looked around the car to find anything that would help me confirm that, I found a label. I had seen it before when I looked around the limo when I was with Tristan. Every single time, there was a label that had his initials. Same with this one. Thats when I realized why they didn’t treat me harsh and why this car was so familiar. They worked for Tristan. ”Am I being taken to Tristan?” I asked the man just before he closed the door. He nodded after a while and then closed the door and the three men walked off to another car, while the driver of the limousine, started the car and drove off. Why were they taking me to him? He asked for my presence, but why? I had believed Arthur when he said that I would be safe and Tristan wouldn’t be able to access me. Then why was I being taken to him and why did he know where I was? I didn’t have much more time to think about it as we pulled in front of that all too familiar mansion I had walked away from. My breath hitched in my throat and I swallowed. No doubt, I was scared. I wasn’t ready to face him…but I had no choice now but to. I had a pair of leggings on and a long sleeve white shirt, with a pair of casual sandals. My pregnancy stomach was somewhat visible, since the shirt wasn’t loose or baggy. That made me even more terrified. The car stopped and just a few moments later, the car door opened for me. It was the same man who put me in. I didn’t even realize those men when following us here, until now. Grabbing my arm softly, he walked me inside the mansion while the other two men where behind us. I got even more scared as we made our way towards his dreadful office. The moment we walked inside, the man who was holding my arm informed him of our presence. Though, I was sure he sensed it since he tensed up. ”Sir, here is miss Alina.” The man said. Both Tristan and Arthur turned to look over at me. I was staring at the both of them with terror. I didn’t know what was about to happen. ”You can leave now.” Tristan said without breaking eye contact with me. The man let me go and the three of them nodded before walking off to who knows where. I stood there, shocked and frozen and unable to say a word. Tristan broke the silence as he walked up to me. ”Alina…..” He said as he got closer. I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall down my face as he stood in front of me. I wanted to run far away from here and avoid everything, but I couldn’t. I was frozen into place and had no other choice but to bear everything that came after this. I could also see the emotions swirling on his face. There were many feelings present. Happiness, sadness, relief, anger, curiosity, confusion….and betrayal. Even him in front of me was hard to bear, but knowing how he was feeling….it hurted. ”Why’d you do it…? Why’d you leave me, Alina?“ He asked, his voice thick of sadness. ”I…I….“ I couldn’t say a word, they just wouldn’t come out. But he decided to forget those questions for the time being and ask a more serious question. ”Alina….is it true? Are you really pregnant?” The moment I heard his question, I gasped lowly. Arthur had told him already. I looked over at Arthur, who gave me a look of sorrow. His face was all bloody and bruised, indicating he got some bearings from Tristan before I arrived.  He looked sorry, and even though I knew that he probably had no other choice but to tell him, I was still mad. He had no right. I was supposed to be the one to tell him, despite how stressful it’d be. Inhaling deeply, I looked back at Tristan who was waiting impatiently for an answer. Well, here goes nothing…. ”It’s true, Tristan. I am pregnant….” I confirmed, and Immediately looked down at where my hand caressed my stomach. It was too late to take it back, now that I confirmed it. But now I was scared more….not knowing what was coming next. ***************** TO BE CONTINUED……   Well, dear readers….how was the quick chapter? Most importantly, what do you think is coming next?
