Chapter 9

Arthur POV:

I nodded to her with the smile. “Hello, Miss Katherine. I am here to get information on the conversation you had with Miss. Alina.” I said to her.

She looked taken aback for a moment before inhaling. “Ms.Kathy is fine. May I ask….who are you?”

I smiled. “Arthur Sanchez, cousin of Tristan Turner. I know about the secret you two have. Don’t worry, I am not here to tell Tristan. But please do tell me everything.“

”Why should I?” She asked me with suspicion and doubt.

I gave her a weird look. It seemed as if she was hiding something, giving me the idea she knew something more than what I was thinking.

”Because I think you know exactly where Alina is…..and I need you to tell me.”

The moment I said that, her eyes widened a little and she opened the door.

”I don’t think we should be talking about this here. Come in.” She said lowly.

I gave a tight-lipped smile and obliged, walking into her office. It was tidy and neat, everything seeming formal and and clean.

“Please, sit.” I sat down in one of the chairs in the room and she did the same.

”So, tell me. I know Alina came here and you confirmed her pregnancy.” I told her.

Katherine — Ms. Kathy — sighed and nodded. “Yes, she did come here with Mr. Turner.”

”She asked for privacy of course, because she didn‘t want Tristan to find out. What happens after that?” I asked.

”Nothing, really. I just informed her of everything regarding pregnancy and telling her to take care of herself. I did nothing.” She replied.

I looked straight into her eyes, looking for any lies but couldn’t find any. Though, just because she might be tel the truth about the visit, she was still hiding something from me.

”After she left….what happened?” I asked.

The moment I got deeper into the conversation, she inhaled sharply and gave me a look of uncertainty.

”I….I don’t think we should be talking about this. You should go.“ Ms. Kathy said.

”Look, I am not here to tell Tristan nor am I gonna be the one to have him find out about her. But I need answers. She doesn’t suddenly just disappear after coming to you.”

”Any information between me and my patients, especially Alina, is private. I don’t care who you’re related to or what lengths you have crossed. It ends here. I wont tel you anything.” She refused to give me any answers.

I sighed heavily. When I came here, I didn’t expect this to be easy, but this woman was making my job difficult. I never wished to threaten my way around, but she was giving me no other choice.

”Listen carefully. I am not here to rat anything out to anyone. I am very familiar with Alina and everything that went down without Tristan’s knowledge. I am here for answers and that’s all, I am not a threat nor a harm to whatever plan that was set to keep her and her baby healthy, safe, and secure. But if you don’t tell me, I will have no other choice but to revoke your license and fill Tristan in on all of these secrets.” I said confidently.

She gulped and blinked continuously. It seemed as if she was contemplating between the cause and effects here, meaning what would happen if she decides to tell me and what would happen if she doesn’t.

After a while of thinking, she nodded slowly. The cautiousness and uncertainty to speak was still there.

”It’s more to this than….you think.” She finally said, causing me to raise my eyebrow in curiosity.

”Please, I’m all ears and have nowhere else to go.” I gestured for her to continue, and after a while she did.

”A…Alina is someone I have known for a long time now. She didn’t realize who I was, but I swear that I’m not helping her to hurt her.”

I got even more curious as she told me this. How did they know each other?

”You mean you‘ve known her through your reputation of being a nurse, doctor or whatever?” I asked.

Thats when she shook her head. “No. Not through medical….”

If it wasn’t from medical, then how??

She continued on…”My brother….had dated her long ago but they had broken up. I had met her a few times throughout their relationship.”

Oh wow! Relationship? This was getting deep….

”Continue“, I said, intrigued.

”My brother has always had a thing for her. They were really close and deep in love back then….until he slipped and broke her heart. She left him, but he never got over her.” Katherine told me slowly.

I nodded. “Okay….but what does this all have to do with the present?”

She inhaled again. “My brother went his separate ways, got through college and started working as a business man, but he never got over her.”

”He was constantly talking about how much he still loved her, and kept tabs on her all the time. He wanted to confront Alina about how he felt, but knew it would never be a good idea. He was positive she had moved on already.”

”Besides, he had seen how broken she was after her father’s death. After a while, he got caught up in the business world, and stop keeping tabs on her.

When he finally got undistracted, he realized that he didn’t know where she was anymore. He told me to keep an eye out for her, positive that she might end up coming to me somehow. So I did, and was shocked to find she came to me….well here where I worked.

Though, I became even more shocked when I saw her with Tristan - I mean, Mr. Turner. They seemed to be in a relationship, but I knew how crazy that was since he never loved anyone.

But he proved my wrong with his his actions, and even more so when I found out her cause of sickness. It was symptoms of pregnancy, and I confirmed it.

She told me about how they met and how she got caught up in his life, till when she came to see me.

Alina was worrying about the pregnancy and she had been thinking about leaving him….even though they weren’t technically together.

She wanted a fresh start for her and her baby, and I knew that despite her telling me she had it all figured out, she really didn’t.

So….I told my brother about her visit to me, and he practically forced me to tell him about everything. I told him and he somehow knew about her plans to go back home. Or either he didn’t and decided to start there.

He called me on the road and told me about his plans to take her to a safe house in Manchester, far away from California and New York. He told me that he wanted to help Alina through her pregnancy and somehow get her to fall for him again.” Katherine told me all of it.

My eyes were wide at her once she finished. “But….how did she not recognize him? How did she not recognize you?” I asked in disbelief.

”Well for starters….I’ve grown a lot. My hairs different and my eye color is darker, so I’m sure she wouldn’t be able to believe that I’m the same Katherine she met back when she was in high school. Though Louis….he’s changed himself in so many ways.” She told me.

So his name is Louis….that’s what the L stood for then… but what did she mean ‘He’s changed In so many ways’?

”What do you mean?” I asked.

”He changed his name….his hair color….and put contacts in his eyes. I’m sure Alina won’t be able to figure out it’s him unless he slips up and says the wrong thing.”

”Well if he changed his name….that what’s his name now?”

“He changed it to Lucasa…..a name he picked up after spending a month in Italy. But he goes by Lucas.“ She replied back.

I nodded. “Well….how did he know about Tristan, who he was and their relationship. And why did he sound like he never knew her….but wanted her?”

”Louis is cautious with the way he speaks, because any slip up can cause problems in his life. He‘s always been a problematic person and that’s why he changes so much. He knew Tristan through the media and news, not personally. And he judged their relationship based off the information I gave him. And about the note he left where you asked why he didn’t say that he wanted her back…..he didn’t want to make it too known that he already knew her. He wanted Tristan to struggle in finding out who he was. He knew that he’d never figure out the truth.”

All of this was new for me and extremely hard to process in just a few minutes. Like what the hell?

”And do you honestly think she is safe with him?” I asked.

She shrugged but nodded afterwards. “I know my brother….he might not be capable of showing his love, but he’d never hurt her.”

”Hmm….that has to be a lie, because he already has hurt her. What makes you think he isn’t able to do it again?”

”Louis would never hurt her physically, and besides, he isn’t the one who makes mistakes twice, unless he is really stupid. My brother might be slow sometimes, but he is far from stupid. I know him, she‘s safe with him. I promise you.” Katherine said, genuine honesty shown in her blue eyes.

”How does he look and where can I find them?” I asked her.

Katherine’s eyes widened. “What? Why do you need that information?”

“Don’t worry, I will not share these details with anyone, but you will tell me or you know the consequences for not doing so.” I reminded her of the promise I made to revoke her doctor’s license and spill this secret. Not that I’d actually do it….but I need to convince her.

She cleared her throat loudly. “He…He’s got blonde hair with blue eyes and straight teeth. He’s about 6‘2 in height and he’s got some muscle. Not too much though.” She gave me the details of he he looks.

I nodded. “Thank you for all your help, I need one last piece of information and I’ll leave you alone.” I told her.

She held her breath, anxiously fumbling with her fingers.

”Where’s this Safe house at In Manchester?“

She gulped. “I…It’s located in Manchester, New Hampshire.”

”No….I already know that. But where is it at in Manchester?”

”I don’t really think….” I stopped her, already knowing what she was about to say.

”Katherine….” I said dangerously slow.

She gulped again. “I don’t know….he didn’t tell me. I am not good with telling directions anyway. But it’s closer towards hills…and it’s a bright big house. Maybe you’ll catch them while they’re out or something.”

”Thanks again for all your help. Goodbye, Ms. Kathy.” I said and left the room without further ado.

I walked to my car with a happy smirk. ‘Well now I’ve got everything down to the last penny….’ I thought.

And now it’s time for confrontation…..
