Chapter 8

1878 Words
Arthur’s POV: With Tristan’s permission, I left his mansion, leaving him to drink away while I find some answers for all this. I didn’t forget to bring the letter and the note with me, though Tristan was too busy grabbing him a glass of whisky to notice it. I got in my car and re-read both pieces of paper. Maybe if I focused hard enough, I would be able to figure out where I need to go start searching first. I continued to read each and every word, back to back until I could make enough out of it that will give me the hint to the location I should be headed to. Alina was extremely smart, I knew that. There was so many achievements she accomplished, from certificates and degrees I had found the day I went to her house to take her to Tristan’s gathering. So, I knew that she was no dummy to not have a hidden meaning behind this letter. Despite the code in which Tristan could understand — The pregnancy —, there had to be another code besides that. I had a feeling the pregnancy was the hint to where she was. He most probably wouldn’t have understood it, which would leave her enough time to figure things out for both her and the baby. I sighed but didn’t give up. I gave my entire attention to the letter and tried to decipher the code that came after pregnancy. And that’s when I found my hint! You might be pleading with me to give you a hint on why I’m leaving so suddenly. Well, I owe you that much. Ever since that night we spent together….things changed in ways you’d never understand. And everything became more complicated for me when you revealed the truth about Amberleigh and Preston. There is something that I can’t tell you about my health, because I’m not really sick.…but I’m not well either.   I had already figured out the first part of what she was saying, and then I went deeper into the matter. I was sure that she had somehow found a way to go to the doctor‘s since her nausea and fatigue, Tristan had to worry about her health. But the thing was….how come he didn’t find out about it? I knew what kind of man my cousin was. He had never been kept in the dark about anything, and anything he wanted, he got. That’s why it was impossible for me to believe how he couldn’t have known. So either he was too dumb to understand, the doctor lied, or Alina had the doctor lie. Of course she had left for the very reason of not knowing how everything would play out if she stayed with him. The shock she got after finding out about Amberleigh and Preston and how they were born, had her worrying for her baby. She knew after his confession, he wasn’t fond of kids or raising them. That was shown without any saying, by the way he dealt with hiding them. Alina wasn’t stupid by far. She knew how he was as well, and what would happen when she went to get checked. So the only conclusion left is that she had to have convinced the doctor in some way to hide the pregnancy from him. And then that’s when the lightbulb flashed inside my head so brightly. I knew where to start. ’See Tristan, you should never underestimate me and my talent. I have already found the next step!’ I thought proudly. In no time, I’ll finally have all the pieces to the puzzle put together and this entire situation would be resolved. I would be the one to find her. With that thought, I smiled happily and started my engine. Maybe you’re wondering how I knew where to go? Well, I also knew how much Tristan hated public hospitals and public doctor offices. I was also very much aware of the many companies he owned, including his very own hospital. With Alina, Tristan was very protective of her, no doubt….and would want her to be as safe and secure as possible. And not only was it a hospital, it was also a doctor office connected. Already knowing thats the place he brought her, I started my long journey towards Tristan’s private clinic. *************** After hours of driving, I finally arrived at Turner‘s Ridgeview medical hospital, located in the outskirts of New York. He had about four private clinics located around each and every one of his estates across the globe. I cut the engine off and locked my car, before quickly walking inside and looking around. There was many nurses and doctor’s around, some tending to special patients — (People associated with Tristan) — while others were either on a break, leaving for the day since their shift was over, or going to a special ward. There wasn’t many people who needed to be tended to, due to the fact that this was a private clinic, moreover it belonged to Tristan. I stopped one of the doctor’s nearby me and got straight down to business. ”Hello, I am Tristan Turner’s cousin. I am here to find some information on Miss. Maddox’s visit.” I told him politely. Unlike Tristan, I was a nice man and didn’t snap at people often. When I wanted something from someone, I got it from giving respect, unlike Tristan whom did the opposite and showed his Dominance upon others. The doctor gave me a skeptical look, before shaking his head a little. “I am sorry, Sir….but I cannot do that. All information of patients here are confidential and private, only Mr. Turner has access to them.” He said with politeness. “Please, Sir….I really need the information on Miss. Alina Maddox. At least can you give me the name of her doctor?” I asked him, respectfully. He shook his head again. ”Not without confirmation and  the approval of Mr. Turner.” I sighed, but nodded anyway. “Alright. I’ll let you speak with him.” Pulling out my phone from my pocket, I dialed Tristan’s number. It rang continuously, as I waited for him to pick the phone up. After almost five or six rings later, he finally picked up the phone and spoke grumpily. ”How many times are you going to bother me?” He sounded both annoyed and drunk. I internally rolled my eyes at his attitude. “I don’t mean to bother you, cousin.” I said. ”Of course you do. What do you want from me now? Haven’t I already gave you the permission to go looking around?” “Yes, you have….but in order to do that, I’ll need your approval.” I told him. ”You really sound ignorant right now, Arthur. I am positive that I gave you approval already.” I sighed and pressed the speaker button of the call, turning down the volume a little so I won’t catch any attention. ”I’m currently at your private hospital doing my own investigation, but I can’t proceed until you approve the staff to allow me.” I told him. “What in the hell are you doing there?” He asked me with curiosity. I rolled my eyes. “Again, I’m doing my own investigation.” I said once again. ”But why there? What will you find there?” He asked me. ”Uhm….I don’t know, maybe nothing. Though, I’m not leaving no stone unturned here.” I replied calmly. ”Okay…..” I heard his low reply. ”Now, please allow my access to all documents and information so I can get on with this.” I told him. ”Are you sure that you aren’t hiding anything from me?” Tristan asked, suspiciously. I sighed, covering up my slight nervousness. “Yes, cousin. I am not hiding anything from you. There’s nothing to worry about. Just please give me access.” I didn’t want to lie to him, but I had no other choice here. A few moments of silence….before he finally sighed and gave me the permission. “Are you listening to me clearly?” Tristan said Aloud. The doctor quickly replied. “Yes, Sir.” ”Shaun, give Arthur here all access to files, documents, and any information there. He is permitted and allowed to ask any questions. Got it?” The doctor name Shaun, nodded and said “Yes, Sir.” ”Good, now Arthur…..leave me be and don’t call me until your time is up.” He told me. ”Alright thanks.” I said back, and got no reply before he cut the call. Once I shoved my phone back in my back pocket, Shaun led the way towards where I am guessing Alina went to get the confirmation of her pregnancy. While we walked, he shared some information with me. “Miss Maddox came for a checkup, Miss Katherine Anderson was her doctor that day.” He informed me and walked me towards her office. ”Here we are.” He said. I looked at the closed door and saw a small peak in the window where Katherine could be seen working on something. ”Thanks so much, Sir.” I told him and smiled. ”You’re welcome. Please, do not hesitate to ask for assistance if needed.” I nodded. “Alright, thank you again.” The doctor left and the moment he did, I knocked on the door. After a few moments, the door opened to reveal a young lady who seemed to be in her Mid 20’s and Early 30’s. She had long brown curls with blue eyes. She seemed to be around 5’6. I nodded to her with the smile. “Hello, Miss Katherine. I am here to get information on the conversation you had with Miss. Alina.” I said to her. She looked taken aback for a moment before inhaling. “Ms.Kathy is fine. May I ask….who are you?” I smiled. “Arthur Sanchez, cousin of Tristan Turner. I know about the secret you two have. Don’t worry, I am not here to tell Tristan. But please do tell me everything.“ ”Why should I?” She asked me with suspicion and doubt. I gave her a weird look. It seemed as if she was hiding something, giving me the idea she knew something more than what I was thinking. ”Because I think you know exactly where Alina is…..and I need you to tell me.”   TO BE CONTINUED…..   So, dear readers…..how was today’s update?
