CHAPTER 4

" I made contact with the target and his son. What do I do now?" Sage asked the man seated across from him. He took up his glass and sipped from it. He was donned in a silver greyish suit , black shoes and a silver cane with a dragonhead for a handle. " Just stay focused on the main target, Kent is not a target for now." the man said in a deep voice.

Sage leaned back and took a sip from her glass quietly staring at the door. " Why am I taking out Mr. Thorne ?" she asked. " You know better than to ask questions. Just do your job and do it well." the man said. " Someone from the Hight table wants him dead, right? Because I know that's how it works. That's how my Uncle was killed , but we were lied to that it was a car crash. There was no car crash, was there? It was all because of the dirty rivarly of the people who run the underworld and the cartels..."

" I have had enough of your questions Sage." The man suddenly spoke. " If you do not want to do your job as a contractor, I will give the job to someone else. And I will have to take you out for your incompetence. " the man said then went silent again. Sage got up and walked out of the room and back into the club where she maneuvered her way out.

At the entrance, she bumped into someone who she apologized to without looking back. " I thought you went home? I didn't realize you only switched clubs to get away from my annoying ass." Kent's voice said from behind her. Sage stopped dead on her trucks and pulled her trench coat over her to cover her fully. " At least you know you're annoying." she said turning back at him. She stopped halfway to stare at Kent who was now changed and was in black cargo pants, a black plain tee and had a black leather trench coat on, and his hair wasn't slicked back,. His blue eyes shone when the light hit them and his hair drew attention to his almost perfect jawline. A smile sat on his face as he watched Sage look at him.

" Never seen such a nice looking boy before?" he asked walking towards her. She took a step back when he came nearer. " Never seen you before." Sage said then took another step back.

"What do you want from me? You seem to be everywhere I am. "She said standing straight. " Well this time I'm not following you. " Kent said. Sage chuckled and looked up at Kent . " So you admit you were following me? " she asked with a smirk on her face. " Well yeah. I was following you to apologize but you're such a b***h. " he replied.

Sage looked around and noticed a suspicious looking car. She looked back at Kent and notice a strange man standing behind him at the corner of the club. " Well, if I were you, I wouldn't be here. Give me your car keys. " she said reaching out her hand. Kent placed the keys in her hand and Sage grabbed his hand leading him away from the potential danger. He saw the man following them and she led Kent behind a car where the man followed. Sage attacked and stabbed him in the neck with a poisoned blade and led Kent away.

They got to where Kent had parked his car and they both got inside. " Who was that?" Kent asked. Sage barely looked at Kent as she started the engine. " I asked you a f*****g question. Who the hell was that, that you killed back there?" he asked again his voice changing into a serious one. " Do you want to die? Then quit asking questions." Sage replied and drove out of the packing lot.

"Who are you?" Kent finally asked after a while of silence. "Whoever I am doesn't matter." Sage said looking over through the driving mirror to see if they were being tailed. "They are still onto us." she said in almost a whisper and Kent looked over his shoulder to see two cars on their trail.

"Who exactly are you Sage." Kent asked again. "I'm just trying to keep you from getting murdered because you are not supposed to be dead!" Sage said In ana angry tone. They switched lanes and went back where they came from. " I have a place you might be safe tonight." She said diverting into a rough road that led to the woods.

They stopped when they came to a cabin and Sage turned of the car engine and got out. She walked to the door, reached out inside the lamp that was outside and took out the keys. She opened the door and looked back at the car where Kent was still sat. She gestured at him to come to the cabin.

" How is this place still in good condition while it's in the middles of the woods? Kent asked looking around Sage came back with two glasses and a bottle of scotch and poured some for Kent who was still looking around the house." It's a nice hideout though. " he said walking back to his seat.

Sage looked at Kent closely while he wasn't looking and got interrupted by a phone call." Sage, are you coming home tonight? " Ally's voice boomed through the receiver. Sage looked back at Kent who was now looking at her." No, I have to take care of a little issue. I'll see you tomorrow morning. " Sage said then hang up.

" Issue, huh. "Kent said sipping the last of his scotch. He took the bottle and poured some more for him. " I'm sorry for acting like an asshole. I just don't know what to do since my father is about to step down and I'm taking his place as the owner of the companies." Kent said looking at Sage who was pacing about. " Who do you think wants you dead.? Sage asked. " I dont know. why do you care about that so much? " Kent replied. Sage took out her phone and texted someone then put it away. She went back and sat across Kent.

"You can't stay here. I'll have to take you back to where you and your dad are staying. And do not mention anything about tonight to anyone, understood?" Sage said. Kent leaned in closer to Sage and looked at her eyes.

"Such beautiful eyes. But I can't get with you because you're not as easy as the other girls. And something tells me you are either a secret agent, or someone hired by my father to look out for me." Kent said . He put his hand on her cheek and then put a stray strand of hair behind her ear. " Did you put something in my drink?" he asked drowsily. Sage got up as Kent collapsed back on the couch. She looked down on him then walked away to go get a blanket. "You'll be out for a while . I have some things to take care of." Sage said walking towards the door.
