She's about to leave when they heard the sounds of knocking from the door. They are already done fixing their crumpled clothes so Aiden naturally let the person knocking outside come in.
But it seems like disasters should always be followed by other bad news. The person who entered the room is none other than Dale. He's holding a folder on his hand that got crushed in his hands when he saw his ex-girlfriend after an obvious affair with their superior.
"Heh," he scoffed. "At least try to hide your promiscuity." He pointed to his own mouth with an accusing smile. "You still have a smudged lipstick on your lips."
Keila quickly looked at her face in the mirror and wiped the messed up makeup. Panic is in her face upon Dale's arrival and it even worsened when he pointed out the proof of her lusty activity.
"You're acting like someone stepped on before but it seems like you're no better than me."
In all of these, Aiden remained silent. He's not in any position to speak up in between the two nor he's willing to justify what he just did to Keila.
Before Dale could say another word, Keila left the room and went straight to her table to take her personal belongings. She just left a text message to Heidi, saying that she already left.
When she got home, she threw herself on her fluffy bed and bit the edge of her pillow. It's a success! She's now free to do whatever she needs to do. Dale's appearance at the last minute was unexpected but it did not change the fact that she's now unemployed and she won't see his hateful face anymore.
There's only this boiling anger within her directed to Aiden, her boss who stood there earlier like an old stump after kissing her passionately just a few minutes before Dale came in.
"What's his deal?!" She shouted, covering her mouth with a pillow to reduce the volume of the sound. She punched the pillow several times, imagining that it's Aiden's face she's punching.
"That smile. Gah! I hate that smile!"
Keila remembered how Aiden usually grins at her like a Cheshire cat that's enjoying a night show with his golden eyes flickering in the light.
Damn!
She stopped throwing punches and started scrolling on her phone instead.
"Chicken...chicken..." She looked at the food delivery app for chicken meals and when she finally decided on the marinated chicken wings, she clicked the order button and ordered two boxes of chicken wings with 6 pieces of chicken wings on each box.
Keila sighed after finishing her order, threw the phone just beside her, and let her eyes rest on the white ceiling above while she's spreading her arms and legs, imitating a kid on a snow, making angel figures.
It's over.
Her contract. Done.
That's what she wished but she's feeling empty inside like a hole that's too deep to know the actual depth formed inside her heart and it destroyed her soul — her sense of self.
Who is she now?
What's next?
She's pregnant but that fact...she doesn't know what to do with it. She's not even sure who got his sperm well planted inside her uterus. Is it Dale? Aiden? Or that man — Caspian that she left sleeping alone in the hotel room while Aiden's busy washing himself.
Ah! In the end, nothing ended.
She just switched from a problem ridden office worker who got herself accidentally pregnant into jobless lady who got herself pregnant from a premarital s*x.
Her phone rang so she answered it quickly, thinking that it's the call from the delivery service.
But it's not.
Dale's fluid voice came out from the speaker. His tone is serious, making her gulp her saliva in nervousness.
Why is she acting like that? She wanted to shout at herself. She's not in the wrong because the two of them clearly broke up before she even hooked up with the other men.
"Kei, open the door." The voice said from the receiver. "I'm here."
Maybe it's because she always opens the door everytime Dale's coming to her house like this that she runs to the door quickly to welcome her ex-boyfriend.
He didn't change at all. Even though they broke up just recently, the same emerald eyes mesmerizes her to the point of oblivion. It's so hypnotizing that she doesn't even remember pulling him inside the house to touch the corners of his eyes and have a closer look at the rare jewel embedded on that face.
Dale smirked at her with a light heart that's full of fondness before claiming her soft lips in a kiss. When they parted, that's when Keila realized that she just let an enemy in.
"Still getting hot over me, Kei?"
The man traced the curves of her arms and took her hand to kiss it lightly. "Kei," he said in a whisper. He looked like someone begging and pleading for affection from his mother. "Let's call it even and forget the things that happened before. I swear... I will forget your affair with the boss if you come back to me, Keila. I know that you only met him after we broke up because you're sad about our parting. Let's start again, okay? We both made mistakes, we had to admit it. But we can still save this relationship, Kei. I... You're the only one I loved like this."
Keila kept her silence and just let Dale kiss the tips of her fingers. She can't deny the scene he saw earlier and can't even push him away because of his large build that's cornering her against the wall. Gladly, an excuse came up when the delivery boy arrived with her chicken wings.
Completely ignoring Dale's presence, she inhaled the aromatic smell of herbs and marinated chicken straight from the plastic bag that was handed to her. When she reached the kitchen, she quickly took out a plate and set the food to eat it.
"Keila?"
"Hmm, yes?" She looked up at him with a piece of chicken meat in her hand.
Dale chuckled. Keila looks cute nibbling on her food so hungrily. "Nothing, just continue," he said and pulled a chair to sit on.
Everything is fine. Until he saw a familiar stuff beside the kitchen sink. He stood to make sure that he's not hallucinating when he saw a pregnancy test result but it's real. He even picked it up and stared at it, unbelieving on the result.
"Keila?," he called to her but Keila is busy in her own little world with the food she's eating so happily. He treasured the moment with his eyes and smiled stupidly at himself. His chest is tightening 'caused by the unnamed bliss he's feeling. Keila...he wants to lock her in his arms right now and kiss her repeatedly all over her body. Inside his head, an assumption was forming.
Hey, Keila, just say it. Am I going to be a dad?
