New Beginnings
"Annie Douglas get down here now" my mother yelled from the kitchen. I hurried down the stairs with my backpack and sneakers making my way into the kitchen. "Goodmorning sweety, happy 18th birthday," I smiled "thanks mom, it's finally the last day of Freshman year." She gave me her award winning smile but that smile didn't reach her eyes whatsoever. I gave her a concerned look but she ignored it and said "tonights your party so you need to come straight home when school ends." My mind was running in circle confused about what could possibly be wrong but she snapped me out of it by saying "did you hear me." I nodded and then hopped off the stool grabbing my book bag and running out of the house. "I love you, have a good day at school" she yelled after me. My best friends car came into sight and I quickly ran up to it, he quickly unlocked the door and I got in. "Jaden, my moms acting even stranger today and I don't know what's going on," he hugged me with a sad look. His car started up and he sped towards our school, "maybe there planning something special that they don't want you to know about." That definitely isn't it, "no way Jaden, they wouldn't act like that if it was something like that." My mind was running so instead of listening I blocked everything around me out. The trees sped by as the car continued down the road. It felt like forever before we pulled into the school parking lot. Everyone stared at me with distaste as I exited the car. Mine and Jaden's best friend Aida ran up to us with a huge smile, "what is it, spit it out Aida" Jaden said exasperatedly. She shot a glare at him before her smile once again covered her face, "because of your mom, all seniors leave early." The dimples in her face were popping out from all of her excitement. I couldn’t help the smile that came to my face, “it’s only five hours normally how could we get out earlier.” “We only have to be here for three hours now” she said way to excitedly. “Now I know somethings up, my mom is all about school and being well educated.” They all shrugged it off but I know something’s up and I’m gonna figure out what’s going on. The bell rang signaling everyone to get to class, “I’m gonna get to class, I got Johnson and I’m really not trying to get an ear full on my last day.” “Just remember we only have Brown and lunch afterwards, then we get to go home.” I shook my head and walked to class, the bell rang as soon as I walked in the door. “Since it’s the last day of the semester we’re just gonna watch a movie.” I don’t want to watch a movie so instead I sat down and closed my eyes. Sleep took over and I passed out from exhaustion. That’s when my recurring dream started once again. I was a white wolf with bright blue eyes and long claws running through the woods. Then out of nowhere came a black wolf with ocean blue eyes. It’s a male wolf and he’s running by my side with so much precision. It’s like nothing can make him leave my side, until he dives at me. The bell pulled me out of the dream, I grabbed my bag and left the room annoyed that I still couldn’t figure the end out. I decided to just ignore it but when I saw my best friends walking with my mom I grew concerned. My mom made eye contact with me before peeling away from them. They walked over to me and Aida looked super excited, "what did she need and why is she so excited" I asked Jaden. "It's nothing" he said casually before Aida blurted out "we're going dress shopping." That was pretty normal so I don't know what made her so excited, I shrugged it off and led the way to Mr.Brown's class. When we walked into the gym everybody was already there so he looked around doing a head count before making an announcement. "I can't believe this is the final time I'll ever have you seniors in my class, I'd just like to say thank you for being amazing listeners and quick learners" we all cheered and clapped. He smiled, "on that note let's play some dodge ball, boys versus girls or jailbreak, it's up to you." Everybody started chanting boys versus girls so he yelled "split up, girls on this side boys on the other." We all got on either wall and when he blew the whistle everyone was off in a flash besides me. I sat back and just watched as everybody scrambled around throwing ball after ball.
I had my eyes closed but somehow I sensed a ball flying at my face, I caught it and then opened my eyes only to realise it was me against ten.
They were all staring at me in shock, "whoops" I said loudly dropping the ball and my head. The boys took this as an opportunity to throw three at me, but were shocked as I swiftly caught every one of them with zero falter.
All three of them got mad and slammed the balls they were holding on the ground before stomping to the side like toddlers. My teammates weren't coming in as I caught the balls so I yelled "four of you get back out here." They instantly picked their jaws up off the floor and got back out ready to get back to it.
"Who's game" I yelled, all of the girls yelled back "our game," I repeated myself "no, who's game" they got even louder when yelling "OUR GAME." I was satisfied because the anger on everyone of the boys faces was priceless.
