Entering The Academy

1574 Words
Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Zombies, all sorts of monsters inhabited this world. While there were those that chose the right path, others decided to go against it. As such, not everyone was in support of the country leaders, or even the King. Everyone was entitled to their opinions at the end of the day, but that still doesn't mean disobeying the law, killing the innocent because you want to prove a point. At the academy, there were students who would kill just for fun. They had no form of concern or regard for the lives of those weaker than them. They only showed respect to their equals and those above them. Hakim never really had friends back in his town. The only person who understood him was Sasha, and that was what made them close friends in the first place. He was wondering just how he would manage to survive I'm this new environment. Not long after, and they had both appeared in front of a large building. Leading him towards the front door, he could see that the others who had passed the assessment were present as well. There were all sorts of personalities present. Some were brave and confident in their capabilities, while there were others who looked lost and frightened for their life. Leading them inside, they made it towards the reception area, where the students were made to gather in lines to receive the key cards to their dorm rooms. Before heading here, Hakim had made sure to pack everything he felt like he would need for his stay here. Although he didn't have much to begin with. He took his key card and luggage and followed a guide who took him and some other students to the area where they would be staying. Upon making it to his room, he then went out of his way to make himself at home by arranging his things the way he liked, before bouncing onto his bed to feel it comfortably. Later on, two other students had entered the room, unpacking their stuff as well. Not saying a word to each other, everyone just laid on their beds, before dozing off some time later. At the academy, students were meant to attend three different classes. One, which was meant to teach them about their history, politics, and current affairs. Also, there was a class designed to teach students how to use their abilities properly, while another was meant to teach students how to use weapons. For the rest of the day, the students were free to meet each other and chat. There was no pressure on them on their first day at the academy from the staff. Although the older students didn't seem to take too kindly to their presence. There were three grades of students. There were those who were at the first year, these were the students who had just made it into the academy. They were still fresh and naive, blissfully unaware of the horrors that awaited them as they happily mingled with each other. Then, there were the second year students. These were the former first year students who had gone through hell and survived. From the balcony of their class above, they glared down at the new students with animosity. These people had learnt quite a bit about themselves and the world around them, and had a pretty got shot at becoming someone important in the future. Then, there were the third year students. At this point in their lives, they cared about no one but themselves. This is the hardest point in their lives so far, and they couldn't afford to slack off by getting involved in student politics, even though they were basically at the top of the food chain. While the other students chose to interact and have fun, Hakim decided to spend the day in his dorm room. He was more interested in other things, and staring at a message floating in the air, he could already feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins. His road to strength had truly begun. [Quest Received] [You have finally made it into the School Of Shadows!] [Danger awaits you at every corner!] [Survive for one week!] [Reward: A new skill] Reading through the messages, he was excited to get the quest over with, even though it said that he should survive for the next week. Of course, he was well aware of the rumors surrounding the school. He knew how dangerous the students here could be. What he was reading were notifications from a system he had been born with.Hakim isn't quite like others. In the sense that this isn't his first life. After dying in his old life, he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to reincarnate into this world and had desired strength ever since he was an infant. This system, based on what it told him, was here to assist him on his journey to acquire strength. It was designed to grant him power in exchange for completing quests such as the one he had just been given. Although this was his very first question ever since receiving the system. In this world, everything and everyone adopts a medieval, gothic form of life. The academy resembles a castle from the medieval times back on Earth, while everyone dresses like the people from that area. And although technology in this world wasn't as advanced as Earth, Kyle didn't mind. In this new world, his goal was to one day become a Demon Soldier. They are the strongest class of demons to ever exist. With their great power and tenacity, they have been the pride of the demon race for countless generations. Hakim wishes to acquire this strength for himself so that he can keep his new family safe in this world. Right now, he is what is known as a Lesser Demon, which is basically the lowest grade of demons there are. There are other classes, such as Greater Demon, Demon Knight, Demon General, Demon Ruler, Demon King, then Demon Soldier. To grow stronger, he would have to either continue training, or he may choose to hunt monsters to absorb their core energy, adding their strength to his own. Of course, he can only do this once the academy has given him authorization to do so. Those who hadn't gone through the academy are unauthorized from hunting monsters. The academy had an unwritten rule of the social heirarchy. Respect was always meant to be given to the strong, and seeing how oblivious the New comers were of their presence, the second year students were growing more infuriated by the second. They know that they would have to put these bunch of students in their place soon enough. This was one of their break periods, and after hearing word that the new students had arrived, they quickly gathered to look down at them. No one wished to head down and meet with them for now. Suddenly, a girl's eyes began to glow bright red, and from the tip of her finger, a red mist began to form. Twirling her wrist around, she then s**t out the mist down below, hitting one of the new students. Unaware of this, everyone was shocked the moment the student had turned into a goat. Looking up, they all could see the older students above laughing hysterically, pointing at them. The first year students immediately looked down, their hearts beating rapidly as they scattered around the outside, quickly heading inside and into their dorm rooms in fright, leaving the student who had been turned into a goat behind. No one really cared about him in the first place. "These children will learn to fear us!" The female student declared, her eyes glowing brighter than they did before. Looking down, the goat began to grow bloated, growing bigger and bigger until it popped, sending blood and flesh splattering on the wall and ground. This was the beginning of a new year in the School Of Shadows. The next day, the first year students had gotten up early to head to their first class for the day. It was meant to run from seven to ten in the morning. Hakim was attentive during the class, and was taking notes as well. Most of them seemed more interested in what had happened yesterday, whispering to themselves until the class had eventually come to an end. From ten to eleven was meant to be the time for breakfast at the school canteen. Since these students weren't human, they didn't eat what humans would typically eat. Depending on one's race, there were various meals available to choose from. Like the Vampires, they would have raw meat and blood available. While Werewolves had raw meat. Demons, having a close relation to Vampires, also drink blood and eat raw meat. While he was enjoying his cup of blood, a few students had suddenly sat on his table, looking interested in talking with him. These two students were his roommates, Carter and Jake. Hakim had a brief chat with them this morning before heading off to class. He learnt that Carter was a Vampire while Jake was a Werewolf. Although these creatures were natural nemesis, they had their ways of co-existing peacefully. ____________ Thanks for reading this chapter. Do not forget to join my Discord.
