Before he released Sarah, John gave her a gentle hug. “You looked so beautiful tonight, Sarah,” he whispered in her ear. “I love you, my little minx.”
Sarah gasped in surprise. Her father had not called her that since she was in grade school. She stared at him, stunned he even remembered her childhood nickname. Before she could say a word, he kissed her hand and stepped aside.
After dancing with her father, Jason stepped in to take his place. He teased Sarah that she had changed his best friend forever.
