9. Plotting, Planning, and Probing
Sadie had gone out to the car with her overnight bag in one hand, followed by a soldier carrying Marlon in his indoor cage with the wire lid securely fastened. As they had moved from the family room, the “Vox” moved away from the French windows, and the chauffeur was terrified by the sight of it bearing down on the car.
‘You are moving the rabbit,’ it stated to no-one in particular.
Sadie cleared her throat, ‘Yes. We’ve been requested to move to the White House.’
‘I shall come too.’
‘Um, well, they won’t be expecting you. I have a feeling they won’t like it – I don’t want any trouble, you understand?’
‘There will be no trouble,’ it said and folded itself into the capacious back seat.
The car suspension sagged.
