Chapter 13
On the way back to the Cannoli Cafe, Nicole drove mostly by way of local roads. She could have taken the highways back, but she avoided them so she could have more time to think about her conversation with Gabriel. She wanted to enter Rosewood feeling confident. Unfortunately, she left earlier in the day feeling like she should hide her face after being humiliated in her own cafe.
She thought about the case and tried to calmly review the facts, potential suspects, and how Detective Dawkins would look in the wrong direction. That was an important point Gabriel made, and the last murder case exposed his poor sleuthing skill—he hadn’t interviewed the key people who might have led him to the murderer.
