“Nicole! I didn’t expect to see you darken my doorstep today. What a pleasant surprise!” remarked Gabriel, head of Information Technology (IT) at the University of New Jersey. A longtime friend and supporter of Nicole’s, Gabriel was one of those more “seasoned” gentlemen who carried a certain air of wisdom about him, but not in a snobbish way. A kind and genuine soul, he had a way of sensing Nicole’s concerns and worries throughout the years, particularly when it came to the tricky political issues at the university. He was perhaps the male equivalent to Nicole’s dearly departed friend and original owner of the Cannoli Cafe, Bernadette, the one who entrusted Nicole to run the Cannoli Cafe upon her passing.
