Chapter 7 The faint glow of the streetlamp peeked through the slivers of Nicole’s window blinds. She groaned as she turned her back to the window once again, frustrated that she woke up for what felt like the millionth time that night. Suddenly, she heard a light tap on her door. “It’s just me,” said Lia, walking in with two mugs of chamomile tea on a breakfast tray. Nicole sat up in bed once she saw her friend, propping the pillow behind her back. “Mind if I join you for a few minutes? It’s 2 a.m. and I know you’re not sleeping well.” Lia set the tray down in front of her friend and proceeded to sit in the armchair next to Nicole’s bed.
