Chapter 4

1314 Words
Monday I don’t know what I was expecting the school to be like today, but it definitely wasn’t this. Half the school was excited, animatedly talking about the party and what went on. I heard Alex the football team captain hooked up with Brinkley Aimes, the junior class president. Which if I am being honest, is kind of a shocker. I mean I seriously thought Brinkley was going to be some sort of nun..... Wait, I'm getting off topic. The other half of the school consisted mostly of the populars and I don’t even know how to describe their moods. Normally, they were all so happy looking - Smiling and laughing with the other populars. But today is a complete one hundred eighty degree turn. All of them are walking around angry. Every single one of them wears a scowl and no one even gave a small smile. Normally, I don’t care what happened at parties, but this atmosphere was unsettling, to say the least. Everyone was so excited on Friday, what happened at that Party? I can see Ryder at his locker talking to some of his friends. Should I approach him? I mean he was at the party and he is my brother so he should tell me. But then again, he did give me some details on Saturday when he came home so maybe he doesn’t remember anything. How deep is my curiosity? Parties and the events there never concerned me before, why would they concern me now? I shake my head, I am being ridiculous and I know it. I’m not going to approach Ryder while he is with his friends to ask what happened to everyone at the party. It isn’t that I can’t, it’s that I won’t. I will ask him once we are home. I arrived at my first class a little early like always and claim the seat in the back near the window. It was colder today than it has been, but with the upcoming rainy season, it doesn’t surprise me. Maybe the weather is affecting everyone’s mood? Kids started filling in the room and surprise surprise they were talking of the party. Sometimes, it gets to be too much and I tune everyone out. This is one of those times. It's too hectic with too many stories at once. It's hard to follow. I know these low thrivers held none of the answers that I did want, so I focused on the trees. I didn’t hear any more kids enter the room. I was too engrossed watching a couple of squirrels play chase around the lining of the trees. Aiden's POV Nothing went as it was supposed to. I had it all planned out for months and it all fell to s**t within a matter of hours. I didn’t want to be one of those wolves that spent years looking for their mate. As soon as I was able to start looking, I wanted to find her. I don’t know how to explain the feeling I had, the one I always had but I knew she was close. Mason, my Beta, had the idea to have a birthday party and invite everyone. If my mate was in the territory then she would come. It was perfect. The minute I turned 18, my wolf would be able to sense her and I would have my mate in my arms by the end of the night. Of course, my father had his doubts. He said that finding a mate couldn’t be rushed. That everything had its time and when the time was right, the Goddess would give me my mate. Easy for him to say. My mom was the Beta’s daughter. They had grown up together and the minute he turned 18, she was standing right beside him and in love ever since. That’s all I wanted, as cheesy and girly as it sounds. I wanted to hold her and love her from the moment I could until the second I died. She is going to be treated as the queen she is. I was so confident that I would find her Friday night, that I cleaned out half my closet for her to move her stuff in. I changed my duvet from the red that it was to a neutral blue with white pillows. I wanted it to be our room, not mine. That is how confident I was that she would be at the party. I circled the party a few times, giving my wolf plenty of times to pick up the scent of my mate. After two hours, the frustration and disappointment got the better of me. I could feel my hands start to shake and I knew I needed to leave before I shifted right in the middle of the party. I told Mason, Luke my third and Blake my Gamma and they left with me. They could have stayed at the party, I wouldn’t have cared, but they insisted that they would run with me. I didn’t mean to take my frustration out on the pack but I couldn’t help snapping at every little thing. It’s just that I was so sure she was here and instead I am alone in a half-empty room that I cleared for her. A constant reminder that I have to find her still. I didn’t want to go to school. Just the thought of dealing with all that after party drama was enough to want me to never go back, but I had to finish school before taking over the pack officially. Everyone in the pack was on edge, no doubt from my frustrations. I would have to think of a way to apologize to them. Maybe a barbecue? We wolves do like our meat. I went straight to my first class with Blake. I didn’t want to deal with anyone’s drama or have anyone hanging off my arm. To be honest, all those girls drove me crazy and the only reason I tolerated them was on the chance that they were my mate. Thank Goddess that they weren’t. I don’t know what would have happened if annoying Ashley was my mate. As I neared the classroom, this amazing scent hit my senses. It was like caramel apples and I could feel my wolf become anxious in my mind. I knew what that smell meant and my heart picked up its pace in my chest. She's here, my mate is here! I walked faster, my nose practically in the air I was followed the scent that led me straight to my class. My wolf was practically prancing with excitement. I wasted no time entering the room and my eyes instantly fell to the source of the amazing scent. She was .... beautiful. No more than beautiful, I can’t even think of an adjective to describe her beauty. She sat in the back of the room, staring out the window at the trees. Her ash blonde hair pulled up into a ponytail and trailed down the curve of her neck perfectly. My mark will look amazing on her smooth skin and my wolf purrs at the thought. The world stopped when her hazel eyes met mine. Am I even breathing? How do I breathe? A small smile graced her lips and it felt like my heart kicked into overdrive. My wolf forcing my lungs to start working and my legs to move forward to sit near her, never taking my eyes off her. She is perfection and she is mine.
