Another Life

1012 Words
Reign was from the year 2078, obviously at that time due to mainstream media, things like transmigration, reincarnation and systems were part of what she grew up entertained with. She was in another world, in another body and there’s a zombie apocalypse and a system. But she was a soldier, one of the best ever trained by the United States of America, and she could easily take all of this in stride and work around it. However she was stuck with a younger, and from her memories extremely innocent civilian husband without one ounce of combat experience and she was injured, in a wedding dress and without weapons! She was absolutely and thoroughly f****d! Reign had no idea what was going through her mind as he slowly and silently made a splint and tied it around her injured right leg. But nevertheless he really couldn’t pay too much of an attention to her right now, he hoped she hadn’t noticed his weird behavior as he was trying to sort the thoughts going through his head. He was just a street kid from Nigeria 2020. He had an education that his family had bled, blood, sweat and tears for him to get. But in a country that was still reeling from the effects of the Corona virus and the corruption of it’s government, it had been more than a little hard to make ends meet. But despite being a recent graduate of English, and his crazy love for reading and writing novels, he was still someone who had grown up with the grind of the streets. The hustle, the gangs, the bribe loving police officers, and the pretty neighborhood girls willing to spread their legs when you have a full pocket and can fill their belly. A simple but hard life, and he was thrown into a situation an self respecting African man would lose his mind over, luckily for him……he could be considered abnormal amongst most African men. “We can’t stay here Trevor, we need to find shelter and maybe one of those terminals the system was talking about. It’s the only way we can survive, I get the feeling the world outside is a lot more dangerous than in here. But we can’t stay as we really can’t be sure of the halls structural integrity.” Of all the things Reign expected him to do, it was not to just not and raise himself up as he began to look for something to use as a weapon. Reign just pinpointed it to shock as she ripped the dress she had on, startling Trevor as he held a candle holder made of brass. That wouldn’t do much, but at least it was better than nothing. She tied her dress as best as she could into make shift pants, she needed the mobility even with her injured leg and there wasn’t much choice of a wardrobe change at the moment. “Let’s go Trevor” she said to him as he walked towards her and placed her hands over his shoulder. The wedding hall wasn’t too big, and given that this wedding had been in secret, they didn’t have any friends or witnesses around as support. Which in a way Reign was grateful for. She knew this wasn’t earth, it was a world that was similar, filled with humans, but then governments were different, the rules were different and the technology was almost similar but very different, a few dozen or century ahead of her time if she had to be precise. But nevertheless with it just being her and Trevor within the halls, they didn’t have to worry about any other zombie, but honestly she was wouldn’t count on it. There always rubble everywhere and even if her memories of the wedding itself was a little sketchy, she knew there might be people under it. But never the less she had to try something out. [Reign Alexander] [Age: 31] [Lvl 1 Civilian] [Traits: N/A] [Titles: Survivor] [Skills:] • Novice Firearms Mastery 0[ No branching Skills] • Novice Martial Artist 0[ No branching skills] • Novice Chef 0[ No branching skills] Reign furrowed her eyebrows, these skill she could see were not something she had from this world, but rather what she brought from the other world. Which is to say the skills were based on the personality and consciousness, not on the body itself. From the look of things the skills she had were at the lowest level, but they can be branched out and improved or used to develop new skills, these were basically skill trees. Trevor noticed the shimmering in front of Reign, she was the one being supported so she and time to probably check out what was up with the system. That shimmer disappeared the moment they got to the door, and her attention was shifted back to the front. The hall where they had gotten married was actually a part of a shopping complex, such an architecture was beyond weird to Trevor because he couldn’t for the life of himself understand why in the hell you would build a church in a shopping complex. He didn’t have long to ponder about it as he pushed open the door of the hall, wincing as it freaked loudly and let in a day of sunlight that forced him to squint a bit. They stepped out, when all of a sudden a black figure went past their front, crashing to the ground as sharpened limbs scrambled across marble tiles to regain it’s balance. Trevor looked at it in horror as the system deemed it fit to introduce just what the f**k they were dealing with. There was no more information to follow, but they didn’t need more to know that the monster in front of them was dangerous. The body of an misshapen human child and the legs of a spider, and an all too large mouth filled with rows upon rows of teeth. This was pretty much some sort of Alien monster, and it was coming straight for them.
