Chapter 1
The sun was setting over the Ryder estate, casting a warm orange glow over the lush green lawns and newly trimmed gardens. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the distant sound of birds singing their evening songs.
The Ryder estate was a grand and imposing structure, with tall columns and sweeping arches that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The walls were made of rough-hewn stone, and the windows were tall and narrow, with intricate ancient carvings that seemed to dance in the fading light.
Inside the estate, the atmosphere was one of quiet elegance and refinement. The walls were adorned with priceless works of art, and the floors were covered in soft, plush carpets that seemed to whisper softly under your feet.
Liam Ryder, the heir to the Ryder fortune, stood at the window of his study, staring out at the sunset with a look of deep thoughts on his face. He was a tall, handsome young man, with piercing blue eyes and a strong jawline that seemed to be chiseled from granite.
Liam's dark hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored suit seemed to fit him like a glove. He exuded an air of confidence and authority, and yet, despite his polished exterior, there was something about him that seemed guarded.
As he stood there, lost in thought, the door to his study opened and his grandfather, Henry Ryder, walked in. Henry was a very tall man, even at his age one could still tell, he stood only a few inches short of Liam with a stern expression and a commanding presence that seemed to fill the room.
"Liam, I need to speak with you," Henry said, his voice filled with authority.
Liam turned away from the window, his eyes narrowing slightly as he faced his grandfather. "What is it, Grandfather?" he asked, his voice polite but reserved.
Henry walked over to the desk, his eyes scanning the room before coming to rest on Liam's face. "I've been thinking about the future of the Ryder family," he said, his voice serious. "And I've come to the conclusion that it's time for you to get married."
Liam's eyes narrowed, his expression was blank. "Married?" he repeated, his voice neutral.
Henry nodded. "Yes, married. It's time for you to settle down and start a family. Ever since your last escapade, it has been a huge burden on my mind, plus the Ryder family needs an heir, and I've already found the perfect woman for you to marry."
Liam's expression didn't change, but a flicker of surprise seemed to dance in his eyes. "Who is she?" he asked, his voice still neutral.
Henry smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "Her name is Emily Wilson," he said. "She's a beautiful young woman from a good family. I think you'll find her quite suitable."
Liam's eyes seemed to bore into his grandfather's face, as if searching for something hidden beneath the surface. And then, in an instant, his expression changed, and he was smiling, a charming, effortless smile that seemed to light up the room.
"I'm sure she's perfect, Grandfather," Liam said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I can hardly wait to meet her."
Henry's expression didn't change, but a flicker of annoyance crossed his face for a moment and disappeared. Henry was an even tempered man and Liam also inherited that trait.
"I have arranged for you to meet her tomorrow," he said. "In the meantime, I expect you to be on your best behavior. This is your best shot at getting a decent girl for marriage since you've blown up all previous chances. I hope you won't disappoint me."
Liam's smile never wavered, but a glint of rebellion seemed to spark in his eyes. "Of course, Grandfather," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I wouldn't dream of disappointing you."
As Henry turned to leave, Liam's eyes followed him, a mixture of emotions swirling in his chest. He had always known that his grandfather had big plans for him, but he had never expected to be told who he was going to marry.
Liam's mind began to wander, thinking about the kind of woman his grandfather would choose for him. Would she be beautiful? Intelligent? Kind? Or would she be just like all the other women, a pawn in his grandfather's game of power and wealth?
As he stood there, lost in thought, the door to his study opened again and his personal assistant, Rachel, walked in. Rachel was a petite, efficient woman with short brown hair and a warm smile. She had been working for Liam for several years, and he trusted her completely.
"Mr. Ryder, I have the papers you requested," Rachel said, walking over to the desk and setting down a thick stack of documents.
Liam nodded, his eyes scanning the papers before he began to read. As he read, his expression grew more and more serious, his eyes narrowing as he absorbed the information.
After a few minutes, Rachel cleared her throat, breaking the silence. "Is everything all right, Mr. Ryder?" she asked, her voice soft with concern.
Liam looked up, his eyes focusing on Rachel's face. "Yes, everything's fine," he replied. "Just that these were not exactly what I was expecting, but it's fine Rachel. Thank you, that would be all for now"
“Alright Sir" she nodded. "If you need anything else, please let me know, Sir" she said, before turning and walking out of the room.
As the door closed behind Rachel, Liam's eyes returned to the papers on his desk. It was a document containing all of the Ryder's assets and businesses and a forfeiture agreement for Liam to sign if he didn't get married in the next one month. One mouth!.
He read for several more minutes, his expression growing more and more serious. Finally, he set the papers down, his eyes scanning the room as he thought about what he had just read, he couldn't believe this. He knew that his grandfather was a powerful and ruthless man, but he had never realized just how far his grandfather's reach extended. He was willing to give up everything the family had to charity if Liam failed to get married. Was he really going to do that or was he simply bluffing?.
As he sat there, lost in thought, the door to his study opened and his grandfather, Henry Ryder, walked in. Henry's eyes scanned the room, his gaze coming to rest on Liam's face.
"Liam” he started, but Liam cut him short, he knew exactly what he was about to say and he was not having it.
"What exactly is this about, Grandfather," he said, his voice low and even.
Henry's expression didn't change, but a flicker of annoyance seemed to dance in his eyes. "You'll do as you're told, Liam," he said coldly. "You'll meet Emily tomorrow, and you'll make a good impression."
Liam's jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with anger. But he said nothing, his expression masked by a calm, calculating exterior.
As Henry turned to leave, Liam's eyes followed him, a mixture of emotions swirling in his chest. He knew that his grandfather would stop at nothing to get what he wanted, and Liam had a feeling that he was in for a wild ride.
Meanwhile, in a small apartment on the other side of town, Emily Wilson was busy making dinner for her family. She was a young, petite woman with long, curly brown hair and big, green eyes. She had a sweet, gentle face and a warm, loving smile. As she stirred the pot of stew on the stove, her mind wandered to her family's financial struggles. Her father had lost his job a few months ago, and they were struggling to make ends meet. Emily's heart ached with worry as she thought about her family's future. She knew that she had to do something to help, but she didn't know what. As she served the stew into bowls, her mother, Sarah, walked into the kitchen. Sarah was a kind, gentle woman with a warm smile and a loving heart.
"Emily, how was your day?" Sarah asked, as she sat down at the table.
Emily sighed, her eyes dropping to the floor. "It was okay, Mom," she said. "I just worry about Dad's job situation."
Sarah's expression softened, her eyes filling with compassion. "We'll get through this, Emily," she said. "We always do."
As they ate their dinner, Emily's mind wandered to the mysterious letter she had received earlier the day before. It was an invitation to meet with a wealthy businessman, and Emily had no idea what it was about. But as she looked at her family, struggling to make ends meet, Emily knew that she had to take a chance. She had to see what this mysterious meeting was about, and what it could mean for her family's future.
