Chapter 1 Real & Fake Daughters?
Chapter 1 Real & Fake Daughters?
(Serphina)
November 15,Rose Manor.
“Pa-” A slap smacked hard at my face.
My head tilted to the side, my mind went blank, and suddenly I couldn't hear anything.
My cheeks were burning with pain, and I looked up at my mom, not understanding what was going on.
How could my mom, the mom who loved me so much and who would be more distressed at even a little wound on my skin, hit me?
“You are not our daughter.” Her voice was icy cold, like a sharp blade, stabbing me right in the heart.
I only felt my head buzzing, as if the whole world was collapsing in an instant.
I looked at my parents blankly, tears sliding down my cheeks uncontrollably, “Dad, mom, what are you talking about? I don't understand ......”
A girl came out from behind, mom took her hand, “She, Nina, is our real daughter.”
My vision blurred, but I saw her clearly, Nina, my new assistant.
Beside her was my boyfriend, Eamon.
He looked at me in silence, but his eyes said it all. He seemed not to accept the fact, and our love had become worthless at this very moment...
“Our engagement is annulled.”
Half an hour ago, I thought this day was going to be the happiest day of my life.
My beloved parents, my brother, and the love of my life will soon be engaged.
Now, all of that will abandon me.
I looked at Nina.
She stood there with a sort of victorious smile on her face.
As if I had suddenly lost all my strength, I looked at my parents,
“No, this can't be! Are you guys mistaken? I'm your daughter, I've been living here for twenty-five years ......”
“Enough!” Dad looked at me with disgust on his face, my dearest dad, who used to always look at me so softly and say that I was his most precious baby...
“Let her go, we no longer recognize her as our daughter.”
My father's voice echoed through the ballroom, and I suddenly felt cold.
The guests were mingling, and they looked at me with a mixture of surprise, curiosity, and disdain.
“So, she's an impostor.”
“After so many years of happiness in Thompson's family, it's good that the original color is revealed.”
They gathered around Nina, warmly congratulating her and casting envious glances.
I looked around for my brother who had always loved me. I hoped to get an ounce of comfort, an ounce of understanding from them.
However, my brother said coldly,
“From today, you are no longer my sister. Hurry up and leave my house.”
Each of his words was like a hammer blow to my heart. I felt torn apart, betrayed, and abandoned.
I tried to say something, but my throat felt like it was blocked by something, and I couldn't make any sound.
In the center of the stage, the white cloth covering the huge portrait was blown away by the wind.
In the portrait, our family of four was surrounded by large roses, and I was holding my mother's arm, smiling as we watched my father and brother play chess.
At some point, red liquid was thrown over my face and the roses behind me, and the liquid that slid off left a red mark on the painting.
It looked like these roses were crying.
I looked at them again, at these people I once loved so much, now so strange.
The gilded hall looked like the mouth of a monster that was about to devour me.
I wiped away my tears and straightened my spine, taking one step at a time as I walked out of the ballroom, a chorus of jeers and comments behind me. I did not turn around.
A black car slowly stopped, and a man dressed in black got out, a delicate gift box propped up in his hand.
He skillfully made his way down the hall to the butler,
“This is a birthday gift for Ms. Seraphina Thompson.”
The butler saw his somewhat familiar face. Yes, this man had been giving for more than 10 years in a row, every year to send a gift box and letter on the lady's birthday.
However, it was unknown who the person sent the gifts was.
A girl in the ballroom heard him and shouted in my direction,
“Seraphina Thompson, someone has sent you a gift.”
I heard the voice and turned around.
The man in black walked up to me and handed me the gift box with both hands. After seeing me get the gift, he gave me a nod and left in his car.
I looked at the gift box and was just about to open it when it was snatched away.
I looked up, it was Bella, the girl who'd been following me around all this time...
“This gift is for Ms. Thompson, you are no longer a Thompson lady, this gift is not for you.”
She said, handing the gift to Nina, who had just walked out.
Nina opened the gift box, and it was a crown in the shape of roses.
The petals were cascading, and the tip of each petal was set with a sparkling diamond, as if it were dewdrops in the morning.
In the center of the stamen was a pear-shaped yellow diamond surrounded by several larger rubies, which were clear and emitted a warm and luxurious luster.
The moment the gift box was opened, the crowd was shocked by the beautiful flower crown,
“Oh my god, it's so gorgeous.”
I looked at the flower crown, and my heart was also very shaken.
This mysterious person gave me a unique gift every year, and this year's was especially beautiful.
But I knew that this gift couldn't possibly belong to me anymore, I just wanted the letter back that was placed inside the gift box every year...
“Nina, can I have the letter inside the gift box?”
Nina was obviously very fond of the gift, too,
“Letter? Your letter?”
She said as she pulled a blue envelope out of the box,
“Are you sure this is a letter for you?”
I knew she wouldn't give me the letter so easily.
“It's my letter, the envelope says Seraphina.”
Nina looked at me with a smile,
“But I don't want to give you this letter!”
After that, she turned around and a maid handed her a familiar looking wooden box. She opened it and took a dozen letters out of it.
I suddenly remembered that I told her I treasured these letters when she was my assistant, and I was a little worried.
“Take all these letters and burn them.” She said to the maid.
No way!
I rushed to the maid and tried to grab the letters from her. Suddenly, I was heavily pushed back.
“Why haven't you left yet? Go at once.”
Surprisingly, it was my brother, who was right there looking at me with a cold face.
I walked out of the house, bewildered, not knowing where to go.
I didn't know how long I had walked. I couldn't walk anymore. I sat down on a rock and looked up at the starry sky.
Until this moment, I didn't really react to the fact that I had no home.
Who am I? Where were my parents? Why did they abandon me?
These questions swirled in my mind, but I had no answers.
The day was getting colder and colder, and I pulled out my cell phone, only to realize that the news that I was a fake daughter had already spread.
Looking at all the cynicism on the internet, I gripped my phone tightly, my heart felt like it was being clutched hard by someone's hand, especially when I saw the picture of Eamon and Nina standing together.
Villa Thompson, dressing room.
Nina looked at the row of fine gowns and slid her fingertips over them. Suddenly, she pushed her hand and the entire row of dresses all fell to the floor.
She smiled and turned back to a maid, who was beside her.
“How did these dresses fall over?”
The maid looked at her.
“I did it by accident.”
Nina was very pleased with her answer.
“Pretty well, you're my assistant from now on.”
The maid smiled and said thanks to her,
“Lady. Nina, the latest dresses are ready, everyone is waiting for you in the ballroom.”
Nina told her to go wait outside.
She put the rose crown on her head and looked in the mirror with satisfaction.
With a smile on her lips, she took out her cell phone, dialed a number,
“I'm already the daughter of the Thompson family, so don't you ever contact me again.”
A woman's voice came at the other end of the line, “Are you sure you don't need me anymore, dear?”
