something terrible

594 Words
The pain ripping through her was excruciatingly agonizing and could not be described in words, yet Vivienne still somehow managed the strength to clutch an arm over her rounded belly protectively and clench her thighs together in a foolish, futile attempt at stopping the blood from gushing out of her. Vivienne's eyes blurred with tears as she wept and screamed through brutal wave after brutal wave of searing pain until she made it to the operating room. The nurses and doctors who had raced her stroller across the hospital hallways had all given her that gleam, dreadful look she was all too familiar with, the one that told her; this is bad, only a miracle will save you. "Mrs Knightley, you were in a very terrible accident." One of the nurses had to explain to Vivienne in the middle of her hysteria. Accident? What accident? The last she remembered was feeling lethargic and dizzy after walking out of her car on her way to the Stellar Group company building. She had received news in the morning that her husband was returning from his long overseas business trip and she had planned on surprising him with the news of her pregnancy…. But she never made it across the street and she was yet to discover why. "No! No! No! No! What happened? What happened?" Her yells could be heard across the ER section when it came to her notice that there was a pool of blood collecting between her thighs, that was a moment right before they strapped her down so she wouldn't injure herself even more. "Please calm down, Mrs Knightley, you are very badly injured, we need to operate immediately." Vivienne's eyes widened in panic at the doctor's words. Even a seasoned ER doctor like Dr Yale was bewildered by Vivienne's perseverance and determination to live. Even with the sharp strip of metal lodged inside her and her having lost so much blood, Vivienne could still put up a fight and had not lost consciousness. Vivienne could feel herself quickly fading away, her head now weighed a ton, her vision was now nothing but a hazy, spectrum of light and her limbs were going numb. With the last bit of strength left in her, she tightly grasped the scrubs pants of Dr Yale and croaked out a desperate plea, "Please save my baby, please… please call my husba-" She couldn't even tell them to call her husband to the hospital. Adrian Knightley's glowing, handsome face was the last thing Vivienne saw before darkness consumed her. ●•♤•♤●•♤ "Looks like she is still suffering from the effects of the anesthesia, let her rest." A deep, soothing voice met Vivienne's ears as she clawed out of the dark abyss of her harrowing nightmares and made it to the light. "Adrian…. Adrian…" She breathed, her voice low and hoarse but still clear enough to be heard. "Your husband is not here yet, you should rest, Mrs Knightley." The surgeon who had operated on her couldn't more relieved that she still had the ability to not only talk but to also grab at his scrubs aggressively with an iron tight grip after such a lengthy, hard, life- saving surgery. "Adrian… Adrian…don't go… don't leave me…" Vivienne begged gruffly while in her mind her voice was sweet and endearing but just as he did when she begged him not to go to Lormvia for three months, the Adrian in her delusions also jerked his arm away and turned his back to her.
