A really confusing situation

586 Words
Samantha shrunk into the cream coloured, fancy leather seat and stared out the window to capture the dazzling, glimmering beauty of the city of Hiltonstern as it quickly passed by. The sun had long set and it was beginning to get dark but the city was as alive and as abuzz as ever. With Fernrin being recognised as the wealthiest, most advanced country in the world, it was no surprise that it's capital was a city of awe- inspiring magnificence unlike any other. Hiltonstern was a highly developed, highly influential, extravagant metropolis that was nicknamed the City of Kings and Regal Land. From what Samantha knew, the Kelharts were the most powerful, most influential in this City of Kings, although there was only one king on the dark throne of thorns and his name was Dane "Hades" Kelhart. What baffled Samantha the most was the fact that all her life her mother had not said a word about having family ties with Dane Kelhart and she only knew she was his niece about a month ago when she casually chimed in on a conversation she was having with her best friend, Kelly. Her mother had tossed it so lightly that she had thought she was joking until she showed her a booked flight and told her that she was moving in with the Dark Lord of Hiltonstern. Samantha would've never known that somewhere out there she had a lethal as hell, powerful man as an uncle, not when her mother's last name was Yale not Kelhart and she did not know of other Kelharts. The thoughts of her new life in an entirely new city, completely different from Newvon, where she grew up, kept her mind occupied while her fixated gaze would suggest she was mesmerized by the flashing lights, the high, beautiful skyscrapers that twinkled brighter than every star in the galaxy; by the abound richness of Hiltonstern as a whole. For a fleeting moment, she had forgotten where she was and who she was with. Ahhh, it was good while it lasted. Now, back to being a nervous mess that is too aware of her damning reality to even give herself away to the island of delusions. There were a lot of questions regarding this brute of a man who was as gorgeous as he was frightening but dare she ask any of them? No! What was even more unsettling about him was his silence. After that ominous laugh that sent cold tingles shooting through her spine; he had went completely quiet. She still could not quite get what was happening here. They had been on the road for over thirty minutes now and she was beginning to get apprehensive. Was he really taking her to Dane Kelhart's mansion? Shouldn't he have at least given her his name or at least called her by her name? Samantha started wringing her fingers as the panic quickly rushed in. She had gotten into a complete stranger's car without asking any questions- was she insane? Slowly tilting her head, she set her wavering gaze on the handsome stranger and found herself helplessly enthralled. This man really was unreal! The way he effortlessly exuded domaninace and dangerous charm was beguiling. He made gripping onto a steering wheel and concentrating look like an erotic scene. The way he clenched and relaxed his jaw, the way he slightly tilted his head and narrowed his eyes as his thoughts consume him: almost made her swoon and forget her situation - almost.
