"You have crossed the line, Rhea, death would be too good for you, you little shit." My tough act crumbled down at his words and my salty tears rolled down my cheeks.
My heart was torn apart by pain, my chest was tight and I could not take in air properly. Being wrongfully accused is the most unjust, hurtful thing that has ever happened to me.
I was being set up, Luna Diana was using me to cover up her lies. For whatever reason, Luna Diana loathed me just before she "fell pregnant", before that she just disregarded me, she barely noticed me and I was stunned when she started paying more attention to me. For the last five months, she has went out of her way to make my life a living hell and now she is accusing me of pushing her down the stairs and causing her miscarriage and she has recruited her loyal puppets to back her up.
She started devising ways to get me in grave trouble with Alpha Duncal after I overheard her asking one of the pack doctors what she could do to increase her chances of falling pregnant five months after her pregnancy was announced and celebrated with a grand ceremony. There was immense desperation in her voice, you could tell that the walls were closing in on her and that she had tried and tried and tried to the point of frustration and distress.
I am not furtive in nature, unlike the agile predators around me; stealth is not my strongest point, so I was caught eavesdropping and had to carry on as though I had not heard anything, but Luna Diana knew that I knew about one of her biggest secrets. Her belly was as flat as ever when she faced me with the deadliest of glares, so the truth was indisputable. She had faked the pregnancy. For whatever reason.
Then only nine days go by and in a strike of "uncanny coincidence and convinience", she happens to be at the top of the stairs as a wave of pain hits her, and she decides to ignore all her other servants and instead calls for me to help her. I had not even put my hands on her or assessed the situation for that matter, when she screamed and tumbled down the stairs. She had literally thrown herself down the stairs and did not injure herself fatally, because the fall must have been rehearsed a million times. Then right after her body hits the bottom of the stairs, Benicia, one of our gamma's daughter and Luna Diana's favourite subordinate comes out screaming, "You pushed her! Rhea pushed our luna down the stairs!"
I knew that luna Diana was going to succeed, I had no one on my side and I was nothing but a worthless slave in their eyes. For some reason she felt threatened by me and wanted to get rid of me at all cost.
"Please, Alpha, I swear on my life, I did not do it, please, you have to believe me!" I implored, my sobs cutting in after every word and the rage in his eyes burned brighter at my pleadings. "She said she was in pain, I was just trying to help her, I did not even put my hands on her! I did not push her, I would not gain anything by causing her a miscarriage, I am innocent! I am innocent!" I shrieked as he yanked my head back before throwing me off my knees and the cheerful spectators rejoiced as I met the ground with my chin and a spasm of pain rippled across my face, all the way to the back of my head.
In that moment, I made a promise to myself. A vow I was going to keep until I take my very last breath, if I do not die tonight. They are all going to live to regret this. My pain and suffering will not be in vain.
"I do not care what you have to say, I would save all of that energy if I were you." I cowered as he rose from his seat and glared at my form, casting a dark shadow on me with his imposing, hulking build. "As punishment, I am banishing you from my pack, from every domain I own. In the midnight hour, you will be thrown in the Blood River Forest, and believe me, I cannot wait for the rogues to tear you apart."
That was a death sentence. The infamous Blood River Forest was the habitat of the most dangerous, demented rogues and the most powerful, aggressive, ruthless demon wolves and fearsome, bloodthirsty lycans. The Forest was feared by all, no one ever walked into that forest and made it out. They all were never seen again.
"Look at me!" He snapped as I lowered my eyes and they immediately shot up to his tense face. "I want you to memorize this face, I want my face to be the last thing you see when you suffer the most excruciatingly painful death, when you take your very last breath. No pain you will ever suffer will ever surpass the pain of losing a child. I wish you a slow, unbearably painful death, Rhea, I knew I should've let father snap your little neck in half while you were just a little pup."
Alpha Duncal gave me one last death glare before he turned his attention to the three, tall, hunky men posed behind me. "Take her away and wait for my instruction."
