The gown was going to be perfect for Sophia, and I was sure she would love it.
As I finished getting ready, I heard the sound of a car pulling up outside. Alex was home.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. I was determined to make tonight special, to reconnect with Alex and make things right with Sophia.
I walked downstairs, and Alex looked up at me, his eyes widening in surprise. "Wow," he said, his voice low. "You look stunning."
I smiled, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Thanks," I said, walking over to him.
He took my hand, his eyes searching mine. "Ella, can we talk?" he asked, his voice serious.
I nodded, my heart racing. "Yes, let's talk," I said, leading him to the living room.
As we sat down, I noticed that he looked nervous, his eyes darting around the room.
"Alex, I'm sorry about earlier," I said, trying to break the tension. "I was just feeling a little...overwhelmed."
Alex nodded, his eyes locked on mine. "I understand," he said, his voice gentle. "But Ella, I need to tell you something."
I felt a shiver run down my spine. What was he going to say?
Just then, the doorbell rang. I stood up, relieved. "Saved by the bell," I said, trying to lighten the mood.
I opened the door, and there was a waiter holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a note.
"Compliments of the chef," he said, handing me the flowers and the note. Chef was almost family now; I think he was just excited he got the contract to cater for the charity event because of my influence
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. "Thank you," I said, taking the flowers and the note.
As I read the note, my heart skipped a beat. It was from Sophia, apologizing for earlier and asking me to meet her at the charity event.
I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Maybe things were going to be okay after all.
I looked up at Alex, who was watching me with a curious expression. "It's from Sophia," I said, handing him the note.
He took it, his eyes scanning the words. "She's apologizing?" he asked, looking up at me.
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "Yeah, she wants to meet up at the charity event."
Alex nodded, his expression thoughtful. "Maybe it's a good thing," he said. "You two can talk things through and clear the air."
I nodded, feeling a sense of agreement. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking."
As we stood there, the tension between us seemed to dissipate, and I felt a sense of hope. Maybe things were going to be okay after all.
"Shall we get going?" Alex asked, looking at his watch.
I nodded, smiling. "Yeah, let's go."
As we left the house, I felt a sense of excitement. Tonight was going to be a night to remember.
When we arrived at the charity event, Sophia was already there, looking stunning in the silver gown I had sent her. She smiled at me, her eyes apologetic, and I felt a sense of forgiveness.
The night was filled with laughter and conversation, and for a while, I forgot about my doubts and fears. I was just enjoying the moment, surrounded by the people I loved.
But as the night wore on, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. Alex and Sophia were laughing together, and it seemed like they were getting a little too close.
I felt a shiver run down my spine. Was I seeing things again? Or rather was I letting my mind mess with me
I couldn’t allow it not here of all places I armed myself with a smile.
I tried to brush off the feeling, telling myself I was just being paranoid again. I walked over to Alex and Sophia, smiling. "You two look like you're having a great time," I said, trying to sound casual.
Sophia turned to me, her eyes sparkling. "We were just talking about the best way to support the charity," she said. "Alex has some great ideas."
I nodded, feeling a twinge of...something. Jealousy? Suspicion? I wasn't sure.
Just then, my phone buzzed in my purse. I pulled it out and saw a message from an unknown number. "You're not crazy Even though you may think so as ," it said.
I felt a chill run down my spine. What did that mean?
I looked up to see Alex and Sophia watching me, their expressions concerned. "Ella, are you okay?" Alex asked, his voice low.
I nodded, trying to shake off the feeling. "Yeah, just a weird message," I said, showing him the phone.
Sophia's eyes widened. "That's creepy," she said. "Do you want me to call security?"
I hesitated, unsure what to do. But then I saw someone watching me from across the room, someone I didn't recognize. "Yeah, maybe that's a good idea," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
As Sophia went to call security, Alex put his arm around me. "It's okay, Ella," he said. "We're here for you."
I leaned into him, feeling a sense of comfort. But my eyes kept drifting back to the stranger, who was still watching me.
What did he want? And what did the message mean?
It reminded me of the text I received after bagging that deal with Anderson now I was becoming scared I always said I didn’t need security even though I knew how important I was
What if this was a stalker ?
