Natalie's POV
The next morning. I woke up early and got ready on time. I'd report to Eclipse today, and I needed to get there early.
I wore a light brown shirt tucked into a black skirt that accentuate my curves. After all, I was going to Eclipse. I have to dress like it. I matched it with black heels.
The distance from my house to Eclipse is not comparable to B&D, so I needed to wake up early.
Oh. I still haven't seen the guy. He didn't come last night as I thought.
Even though I'm still worried, I can't let that hinder my happiness for Eclipse. It felt like that night or whatever I saw was starting to look like a dream. I can't seem to remember his face anymore.
Anyway, back to Eclipse.
I stepped out of the taxi, which dropped me around the premises of the company. I walked towards the extensive area, decorated with beautifully carved trees and an enormous fountain in front. The sound of the pouring water invaded my ears, and the lively scent of just the entrance invaded my nose.
I looked up at the long skyscraper. I've only seen the building online. It was long and beautiful. I couldn't even see the end of it. It looked like it was meeting the sky. The same building contains thirty-five floors, if I'm right.
I walked through the automatic revolving door, my heels clacked as they touched the tiled floor.
I froze as I watched the sight in front of me. It felt like I entered another world. I was first hit with the pleasant scent and cold air conditioner that hit my skin. The lobby was so large and clean with shiny tiles. I walked slowly, trying not to slip.
A big statue stood in the center of the room.
Different people walked, minding their business. Some were rushing in as they used their ID card to get through the turnstile glass gate.
I held my hands together, hoping it would stop it from trembling.
I walked to a lady behind a large counter. "Good morning." I greeted her, to which she replied. I explained what I came for and gave her a letter given to me in my workplace, or should I say previous workplace.
I noticed she looked at me weirdly. Perhaps wondering how possible it was to get transferred to such a company. Well, I also couldn't believe it. She made a call in front of me and dropped the phone after her call.
"Go to the HR department. It's on the twentieth floor." She said, to which I smiled, but it dawned on me. I can't take the stairs to go to the twentieth floor. Something in my mind told me it would be a bad idea to work here.
I remained calm and tried to locate where the door to the stairs was. Using an elevator was never an option for me, and even though going to the twentieth floor by stairs would be a hassle, I still didn't care.
I located the stairs and started climbing. I didn't know how many minutes it took me, but I was already tired, and my heart was pounding in my chest. I kept asking which floor I was on from people until I got to the twentieth floor.
Sweat oozes out of my face and palms. "Maybe I shouldn't have used the stairs."
I kept cleaning my face as I approached a woman's table. "Good morning," I said, to which the woman also looked up at me.
"Good morning." She replied, scanning me from my head to toe. I knew why she did that. I looked miserable. I started to feel agitated, knowing if I was rejected because of the way I am right now, I would be jobless.
I gave her the letter, and she assessed it without a word. Some minutes passed, and she finally asked me to sit. "This is a one-time opportunity that seemed impossible." She started talking. I don't know if she was rude or not, but I listened.
"You would be working as the CEO's assistant." I froze when I heard what she said.
"The CEO's assistant? How is that possible?" These are the questions I wanted to ask her, but I kept to myself. No wonder the woman was talking that way, but how is it still possible? I thought I would be given a post even lower than the one I was doing before, but the CEO's assistant.
" Check through this document and sign if you're okay with it." She said, to which I also collected to check. My gaze first went towards the numbers in the contract. "Twenty-five thousand dollars per month, and first payment?" I didn't know when I said out.
"Is that not okay with you?" I heard the woman asked.
I looked up at her. Is she joking?
"What, no? It's enough." I smiled before looking back into the contract.
It all seems too good to be true. I don't know if I should be worried or happy, but the latter it is.
I didn't bother reading further. The offer is great. I filled out a form and signed the document immediately.
"Good, Miss Ross. I'll send your account details to the accounting team, and your money will be sent to your account before the end of today." The woman said, to which I smiled. "Thank you." I forgot about every other problem. It's money we're talking about. Working as the CEO's assistant in Eclipse. Liz won't believe this.
"You can go to the CEO floor; it's the last floor." She said before I stood up. I took a deep breath. The sweat on my face had dried up, and I looked composed once again.
But before I could leave, the woman said. "Don't make the same mistake next time. The CEO hates when his employees look unkempt." I nodded and left.
Even though I found the woman's words rude, she was still right. I did look unkempt when I entered her office.
Now it's time to go see the CEO. It hit me again. His floor was on the thirty-fifth. I can't go again with stairs; I'll look sweaty and unkempt. I stood at the elevator door, staring.
"It had been long. Maybe the fear is gone." I said to myself before pressing the button, and it opened.
There was no one inside, which I was happy about. I stepped inside, and watched as the door closed.
"Stay calm." I kept saying to myself, but something started building up in me. My heart pounded so hard, and my body trembled.
"Stay calm, Natalie. You can do it." I pressed the floor I was going to and tried to remain calm. The more I take deep breaths, the more it worsens.
"You need to leave." My mind screamed at me. My vision was getting blurry. I tried pressing buttons on the elevator, but none was working. I hit the door and cried as the memories sank in.
"Lock her up in her usual home." The words rang in my head as I screamed and cried for help. "What? You think you're special? Lock the door."
"No. Please. I don't want to go back." I sat in a corner and gripped my hair tightly as I shook my head. "Please don't. I won't disobey you again."
I was still in that position and didn't know the elevator had stopped and opened. I heard a sound of footsteps walking towards me. I still didn't look up. My body shook; I couldn't look up.
I knew the figure knelt close to me because of his fresh scent. Perhaps a cologne.
"What are you doing?" I was revived out of my daze when I heard a low, husky voice. I was back to reality.
I looked up to meet a captivating grey eyes.
I froze. It's him. He's the guy. Not guy. The vampire. The one I've been hoping not to meet ever again. He found me.
I screamed as I moved back away from him, not caring I was sitting on the floor. What the heck was he doing here? I moved far away from him till my back touched the wall of the elevator.
"Y... you... what are... you doing here?" I managed to ask despite my heart pounding hard in my chest because of fear.
He stood up and straightened his suit that fitted his body well. Not the right time for details. He smiled at me and took a step closer to me.
"Hello. I'm Nile Flynn. CEO of Eclipse Corporation." I heard him say, and immediately I knew I was doomed.
