The man with fangs

Natalie's pov "Seriously. You've got to be kidding me. Why today?" I lamented, looking at my empty fridge. It was not enough that I kissed a stranger. I ran out of groceries despite not eating anything good since morning. "I guess I'll have to go to the store." I took an umbrella at the entrance. The rain was still drizzling. The store wasn't far from my house, but that's only if I passed an alley that would get me there on time. "You came out while it's drizzling. Today is going to be a beautiful day, Nat." I heard a voice say from the counter immediately after I entered the store. I looked at the guy and smiled before going into the store to get some groceries. I also got some snacks and placed them in front of the counter. "There's nothing beautiful about today, Daniel." I knew what he meant by his words. I was the type that would never come out at night or even during the day unless I was going to work or I had something important to do. Daniel is my neighbor and friend. The only friend I could talk to and confide in, apart from Liz, my other friend who lives far away, and is always busy. "Exactly why you shouldn't sit in the corner of your room and come out when it's dark. Are you a vampire?" Daniel asked, to which I just laughed. He was right. I act like a vampire, even though it's just a myth. "Calculate my groceries, Daniel. I'm starving." He also calculated it, and I paid before leaving the store. "I'll see you tomorrow," I said before leaving. I left the store and headed back home. I thought about passing the main road, but because I wanted to get home on time, I decided to pass the alley. It wasn't a dark alley. I could still see well with the light coming from the houses around. I walked, slowly, my umbrella held up to cover myself from the drizle. I couldn't help, but think about the kiss. That crazy guy pushed me into it. I can't believe I kissed someone for the first time in years, and it was a stranger. I tried recollecting the stranger's face but couldn't. Maybe it was good that way, in case the stranger finds and sues me for harassment. I didn't see his face well before I ran, and I was also sure he wouldn't recognize me. I walked without caring what might happen. Not like something bad might happen, but the alley was unusually quiet. People do pass the alley, but maybe it is empty because of the rain. I was about to take a turn towards the streets that led to my house when I suddenly felt something strange in the air. I walked forward and looked to my left to see two men. "What's going on?" I muttered to myself. It looked like one was hurting the other. But what got me frozen in the same position was the man hurting someone. He fixed his face into the man's neck. I would have minded my business because their position seemed weird, but I noticed the guy's fangs when he raised his head. And blood. It was covered with blood. I couldn't believe my eyes. My heart pounded so hard that I couldn't hear or feel it anymore. "Ahhh!!" I couldn't stop the sound that escaped my mouth. He also looked at me. Immediately, I ran, dropping my groceries and umbrella on the floor. *** Niles's pov I followed the drunk man into the alley, watching his every move. The drunk man also noticed he was being followed. Well, I made it so obvious to him. I stepped onto an empty can. He stopped and looked behind him. "Who are you? What do you want?" He couldn't see my face because I was backing the light from a house. I took several steps towards him. My hands crossed behind my back. "I don't know. You tell me." I smiled as I walked closer, making my face visible to the man. I noticed he looked confused. "It seems you're sober now. I'll ask you one question, and any answer you give will determine whether you'll still be breathing in the next few minutes." A side of my lips curled up in an evil grin. "Does this handsome face look like an i***t to you?" I asked, staring deep into the man's eyes. The man looked surprised at my question. He chuckled, followed by a scoff. "How dare you stop me for such rubbish, you crazy guy? You're lucky I'm in a good mood. I would have cut out that tongue of yours." The man said before turning to leave. I looked at him and smirked. I was furious, and I was trying my best to control it. But the man had already chosen what was about to come on him. Before the man could take two steps, he felt a chilly breeze blow beside him, and immediately, a hand with long nails fell on his neck, squeezing it until blood ran out. Well, I did that. The man groaned in pain as he stared at me. My eyeball had turned red. I was in the mood to kill. No one could stop me at that point. "Ple... he couldn't finish his words because of the excruciating pain. "Weak humans. You say things that can end your life." I said, looking at the man before inhaling the smell of his blood in the air. "Now you're making me hungry." I sank my teeth into his neck, and within seconds, I pulled away. I wasn't the type who goes around drinking different blood. Not that I needed blood to survive, but as a vampire, who will be the king soon. I need to crave only blood. And all the blood that goes down my throat needs to be purified. "Not appetizing at all." I hissed, but before I could drop the man, I heard a scream behind him. "Ahh!!" It was another human. I got carried away with the man. I didn't sense another human was around the neighborhood. I could have easily dashed towards her, but I caught myself staring at her. She looked familiar. She ran away immediately, dropping a plastic bag she was holding on the floor. She saw me drinking blood from the man, but that wasn't what I was concerned about. Her face. She's the human girl. The one I wanted to teach a lesson. The one who kissed me. I could remember her face vividly and her soft scent. "Not even up to a day, and I found you already," I whispered, smiling. I dropped the lifeless man to the ground and followed the girl before she ran far away.
