Chapter 21
I collapse on my bed, exhausted after our meeting with Rome and his team. Developing a Plan A, B, and C was complicated, but once they leave we can’t communicate with them. There’s a contingency for everything, which is good, but terrifying. It’s clear how Rome is putting himself and his team in the fire for us.
Since plans changed, Edric is sending Rome and his crew in the morning instead of tonight. The only meeting Edric refused to let me attend was the one with Cyrus. He’s probably with him now. Truth be told, I’m glad I’m not there. I don’t think it’s possible for me to be objective when it comes to him. My chest is hollow with his absence. Somehow, he left with my heart.
