Snow
I know that the snow is cold I just know it but yet I can't feel it. My legs should ache from how fast I am running but yet all I can feel is power. I slow for a moment to take in my location, a thick blanket of snow covers the mountain. The cliffs here beautiful, and deadly how ironic given my situation. Wait what day is it.... Day number Once hundred and fifty of this exile, where do I begin to explain. How about my location, currently I am in Nepal, Day thirty in Nepal. I look down at my massive white paws, this is never easy to explain.
I once was a normal Girl about to graduate high school, I grew up in a normal suburban neighborhood. I had friends, class mates, a family. After high school I had planned to start college and move to the city. Funny now in a strange way. Turns out the universe had different plans for me. My mind floods with memories of the first morning...
So much pain, why am I in so much pain, My body feels like its on fire, wave after wave of unending pain. I try to move but my body won't let me. I hear the birds chirping, so loud its like they are right next to my ear. Agh make this pain stop. Finally I think I can open my eyes. I try to yell but I can't find my voice. OK Eve open your eyes. Oh the light is so bright, my eyes sweep the room for the source of my misery. Strange I see nothing out of place. I move my arm and see a flash of white fur... somethings in my room. I look around once again and see my reflection in the mirror...
This isn't possible, my body is no longer mine but one of a massive white tiger. This is a dream, did someone slip me some sort of drugs? I crawl out of my bed which seems so tiny under my weight, the wood floor protests under my large paws.
Back to the present.
The fox runs but it is no match for me, I wait a few minutes before I pounce. I am sorry poor fox is the last thing I think before attacking. Then I feel it the shift is coming. Not now I don't have time to make it back. I run as fast as my paws will carry my I need it make it back before I shift... I slide though the snow begging the shift to slow but its to late I can feel my bones moving. My fur starts to reveal my skin and I can feel the cold air on my body, Its been months since I have felt the cold or even seen my own skin. I am left kneeling in the snow as the darkness sets in, after that everything goes black.
The darkness settled on me for how long I don't know, I just know at the end of the darkness I see blue. I find my feet carrying me towards the blue light. The closer I get to the light the more I can see at the end waits a person.
A Man.....
I can't make out much just that he is tall, with broad shoulders, the blue light is streaming from him. I am so close to him, I can see his head is down almost like he is looking at his shoes. Does he not see me? Why is he not looking at me? As I process my thoughts his eyes snap open and land on me.... My heart stops. I can't breathe.... So blue his eyes are like ice.
"Kitten wake up" I hear his voice purr to me. My vision blurs.. NO where is he going?
"It will be ok, I found you." I feel warmth surround my body and tingles shoot through my body.
I still can't seem to open my eyes, the cold is setting in I can feel the pain from my body coming out of shock. I feel myself being carried, a sudden calm comes over my mind and once again everything goes black. This time I have no dreams I just keep replaying the same thing, his blue eyes.
My eyes flutter open as I notice pain in my arm I reach over to find the source, at the same time I find the IV in my arm, a hospital... The memories of my shift hit me, I am human, its been so long. I shook away the shred of happiness I drew from this thought. How long do I have this time? How did I get here, this place doesn't look like it existed in the mountains.
" Your awake Kitten" His voice is no more then a whisper, yet still I feel my heart speed up.
In the corner of the room sits the most handsome man, his strong jaw and tan skin still could not distract me from his ice blue eyes. His forehead bearing a deep crease as if he was worried, his tactical pants were dirty and stained. The dark circles under his eyes showed that he had not slept well. How long have I been staring at him? Why is he staring back at me like he is starving?
"It's ok kitty I found you" He purred across the room.
I know I should speak, I just couldn't find words so I just stared at his perfection. He was glorious his muscles strained against his white t shirt, as if he would rip it apart with just the slighted move. He stared back at me before crossing the room to pour me some water. Placing the cup in my hand as if I was the most fragile thing he had ever seen.
"Drink kitty. You must be so thirsty." his voice was laced with concern.
" Th- thank y-you." my voice cracked under the weight of all my unspoken words. He lingered next to me as I gulped down the water. He brushed my hand while taking the empty cup from me, sparks shot through my body. I pulled back and cradled my hand near my chest, trying to understand what was happening.
"Kitty we need to talk. I know you have questions." His voice was calm but his eyes reviled the storm going on in his mind. I know I should be panicking, you know stranger danger and all, but for the first time since I shifted I felt safe.
" Where am I?" I whispered watching him as he pulled a chair closer to my bed. The closeness made my heart thunder, my body was hyper aware of how his eyes never left me.
" You are still in Nepal, this is a international hospital." He sounded so uninterested, almost offended by my question.
Before I could control my voice the question slipped from my lips. " Who are you?"
"I am whoever you want me to be Kitty. I am everything for you but you can call me Azure your mate." My mouth fell open. MATE. His hand grasped mine as if reassuring me that he was here.
"I don't understand" My voice was so low I wasn't sure he could hear me.
His face was pensive, trying to find the right words. " I have been tracking you for along time Kitty. I was trying to make it to you before you shifted by the time I arrived you were already gone." he rubbed slow circles with his thumb on my hand, soothing my racing mind. He leaned in to breath in my scent, like he was trying to commit it to memory.
" Please Kitty trust me." He brushed his nose against my neck. Erupting sparks with in my body, causing me to gasp in shock. I could hear his need in his voice, pleading me to not run.
