At my desk the next morning, I have a telephone conversation with Assistant District Attorney Lee Winters about the Mexican kids in the south side gang that the police department is going to charge. She says that Jesus and Julio will not divulge any information. The only real evidence that they have is the written confession and statement from Miguel. Lee Winters is an intelligent attorney and will keep digging to find more evidence. I am also sure she will insist on a lineup with Julio, Jesus, and Miguel, including other guys for the older couple who were robbed to view. Depending on their statements, the case could look a lot better for the prosecution.
