CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE
JULY 4th HOLIDAY
MCLAIN HOME
In the morning, we watch a couple of the Fourth of July celebration parades featured on television. Then in the early afternoon, we go to the park to toss a few baseballs around. The boys are growing up and becoming better hitters, which means I am chasing the ball around more. It should be good for slimming the waistline, which Blondie would really like me to do.
Blondie is home slimming her waistline by cleaning the house.
Late afternoon we fire up the backyard grill and roast hamburgers and hot dogs.
Everyone is exhausted by evening, and the boys go to bed early. Blondie and I sit watching TV, the Lucy Show, and then an episode of Dragnet. By the end of the show, our eyes are slipping shut, so we head to bed early.
