CHAPTER ONE
Muna's POV
I woke up to find myself lying on a bed, with chains on my wrists and legs. I heard familiar footsteps approaching and looked up to see my best friend, Sofia.
"Ahh, it hurts," I said, trying to sit upright but failing.
"Sofia, what's going on? Why am I chained to this bed?" I questioned Sofia, coughing.
Laughter echoed in the room where I was being held hostage.
"Hahaha, can't you see, babe? You're about to die in the next hour. Do you know why? Don't worry, I'll tell you. You're about to die because the misfortune that has followed you since the day we met is catching up with you, and it's going to kill you. You're chained up, and I know you don't have the energy to even stand up. Even if you try, you can't," Sofia said, smirking.
"Sofia, I don't understand what misfortune you're talking about. I know full well that I don't have any misfortune," I said, feeling confused and scared.
"That day you were publicly dumped by the person you called your boyfriend. The day you were almost hit by a car. The day you were beaten up by your chosen mate. Isn't all this a sign of misfortune? Well, as a good friend, I'm going to help you end it, and I'll make sure it's painful so it can be a memorial day. You can rot in hell because people like you don't deserve to go to heaven," Sofia said, holding my neck tightly, causing me to gasp for air. Breathlessly, I started coughing, trying to release her grip on my neck.
"Sofia, stop it," I said, attempting to free her hands.
She finally released her grip.
"Well, Muna, I'm going to help you end this pain by killing you and making sure I marry your mate. That's number one. Number two, I will take your place in the lives of everyone who knows you. But don't worry, my dear friend, I will allow you to die slowly, since it's your last day on earth," Sofia said, grabbing my neck again and tightening her grip.
"Rot in hell, Muna, and I pray we never meet again."
"Sofia, I can't believe you can do this. I trusted you as my best friend, and you betrayed me like this," I said, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Believe it or not, you're dying today," Sofia said, signaling someone to come.
"Sofia, don't do this," I pleaded, coughing.
"I'm already doing it," Sofia said, whispering something to the person she had signaled before. Then she walked toward the door, but before leaving, she stopped and said, "Boys, do your job," and then she walked away.
"Yes, boss," the others responded.
Suddenly, I was surrounded by werewolves. They brought out a lighter and an injection containing a milky-colored liquid.
"Please, don't do this. I beg of you," I cried and pleaded.
"Our boss gave us an order, and we must deliver," the leader among them said, heating the needle with the lighter. He pierced it into my hands, repeating the process several times. Each time he did it, it caused me immense pain, making me scream.
Later, he brought out the injection and pierced it into the gap between my nails and flesh.
I continued to cry and shout, "Somebody help me," but to no avail.
Finally, I felt the sensation of someone about to die. But why did Sofia claim that misfortune had followed me since we met?
Flashback
I saw Sofia, frustration evident on her face, about to cross the road when a car nearly hit her. I rushed in and managed to save her, but in the process, I injured my legs. Little did I know that it was all part of her plan, a trap she had schemed all along. At that time, I didn't have my wolf, and Sofia and I grew even closer. However, things changed when she found out that I was dating a werewolf. She threatened him to break up with me because she wasn't dating anyone at the time, and she told him to do it publicly. He complied out of fear, and I felt deeply embarrassed. I later discovered the truth but chose to keep it to myself to avoid conflict in our relationship.
Even after I got a job, she paid someone to run me over with a car. Thankfully, I managed to escape with the help of a stranger. By the time I turned nineteen, I still hadn't experienced any signs of my wolf. I confided in Sofia about it, but one day, people who had already discovered their wolves started mocking me and excluding me from many things. Deep down, I suspected that Sofia had revealed my condition to them, but I dismissed the thought.
At the age of twenty, I finally discovered my wolf, but little did I know that I was entering hell on earth. My mate, whom I was happy to be mated to, would come home drunk and use me as a punching bag, beating me mercilessly. I discovered that he was still involved with Sofia, but I kept it to myself, fearing what he might do if I confronted him.
Back to the present
The guards had already left. I struggled to free myself, and my body turned pale, losing its normal color. I felt sorry for myself and foolish for allowing Sofia to deceive me. Suddenly, my eyes transformed from their usual sea blue to a fiery flame red. Fangs protruded from my mouth, and long, fast-growing hair covered my body. My fingers morphed into claws. Without hesitation, I broke free from the chains and started searching for an exit from the building.
Finally, I found a door that led to the woods. The building was situated in the middle of the woods, so finding a way out was my next challenge. However, I felt a sharp pain near my heart, and my body grew cold. Before I knew it, I was on my knees, screaming in agony, causing the nearby birds to take flight.
In pain and anguish, I closed my eyes tightly. After a minute, I opened them for the last time before I died, swearing that I would have my revenge on those who betrayed me, especially Sofia. My eyes closed forcefully, and silence enveloped everything.
**************
"Hello, guys, is the work done?" Sofia said, holding a phone in her hands.
"Yes, boss. She's dead. We left her body there and erased all the fingerprints," the gang leader responded, putting the phone on speaker for the others to hear.
"That's good news," Sofia said before hanging up.
"Now that it's settled, it's time for pl
an B," Sofia said with a smile as she walked into the Full Moon Pack.
