CHAPTER 8: Fiona

Lea’s POV “Your highness, the king is waiting for you!” Anna said entering my room. “Why? What does he want?” I asked annoyed. “He wants you to wear a comfy gown.” She bowed and waited for me to make a move. “If you can tell me what he wants it will be easier for me to choose what to wear!” I replied rolling my eyes. “Don’t worry I will choose your gown. All you have to do is give me permission to enter your closet.” She said kindly. “Okay go ahead.” I said giving her a small smile. “Thank you. Wait for me here I’ll bring you what you have to wear.” She said excitedly and entered my closet. I wonder why she’s so happy. I was sitting in my room reading ‘Dracula’, When Anna entered enthusiastically my room with the biggest smile on her face. She’s the most kind hearted soul in the whole castle, and I trusted her immediately. I waited for her patiently until she came out with a beautiful gown. It was not too long nor too short. It was comfy and she brought me my flats with it. “Are you going to tell me what’s going on?” I asked her with a raised eyebrow. “No I’m not allowed. But soon you will know what is happening today.” She squealed and started doing my hair. “Okay.” I shrugged. I put on my gown fast after she was done with my hair. She made a loose ponytail and put the crown on my head. She put it in a way that I felt as it was a part of my body. “Follow me your highness.” We exited my room and the guards bowed when they saw me. The king was waiting for me, while speaking with duke Jake. Like me, he had his crown on his head. He looks as handsome as ever. He was standing taller from Jake by a few inches. Power was radiating from him. His broad shoulders were stiff and his chiseled jaw was clenched as Jake was telling him something. He was wearing his royal suite and looked sexy as hell. I wonder sometimes that if he wasn’t so cold hearted and so cold, we would’ve been at least friends? He turned and looked at me when I was at the top of the stairs. Our eyes met and an emotion I didn’t catch flashed in his eyes. He looked at me from head to toe and I shivered under his gaze and blushed deeply. “What’s going on?” I asked him, but he seemed too distracted with looking at me. Jake cleared his throat and the king snapped out of it. “Follow me.” He ordered and turned around walking outside. “Have fun.” Jake smirked and left. I looked confused but still walked outside. In front of the big stairs, a black horse and another white horse were standing looking at us. I frowned and waited for the king to say something. “It is in Emerland’s royal family tradition that the queen should be able to ride a horse. A white one to be specific. Today I’ll be teaching you how to ride one.” I think this is the first long sentence I ever heard from him that was this long. I stood with my jaw hitting the floor. I have never ridden a horse before. A man in his late twenties was standing with the horses smiled warmly at me. I smiled back and approached the white horse. “Good morning your highnesses.” He bowed. The king nodded at him. “Good morning.” I said. “Brody will help you to get on your horse.” The king said coldly not sparing us a second glance. I looked at the horse closely. It was as white as milk. His blue eyes were looking at me. He was standing elegantly in its four paws. “This is Fiona. She was never owned by someone before therefore you are her first owner. She is loyal and confident. Once she gets attached to you she will serve no one else.” He said with a proud smile. I hesitantly approached my hand towards its head, she bent it down a bit and me my hand halfway. For a second I felt like our souls connected together, and I fell in love with her instantly. “Hi Fiona.” I said patting my horse’s head. She made a happy neigh. “It looks like she loved you too.” Brody said. “If you’re done we should start our journey.” The annoying husband of mine kindly said. I rolled my eyes and turned to find him already on his horse. “Your highness put your leg on this and swing the other over the horse’s back.” I did what he told me and I thankfully succeeded without making a fool of myself. “Okay all done now what?” I looked between the king and Brody. “My job here is done. Now it’s the king who will lead you to the next step.” He bowed and left us alone. How great! “Okay your highness now what?” I rolled my eyes. His lips twitched a bit and that made me smile to myself. “Now you should relax and your posture have to be proper.” I adjusted my position. “Like this?” I asked him. “No. Sit up straight, and keep your ear, shoulder and heels aligned. Maintain your posture during the whole ride, and remember, stay relaxed, because it will make Fiona also feel relaxed, therefore you will both be comfortable during the ride.” He looked so hot explaining all these things with his sexy voice. “Okay.” I said although my voice is barely coming out. “Are you feeling good?” He asked. “I mean do you want to continue?” He hesitated. “No I’m fine.” I said with a blush looking into his deep chocolate eyes. “First we will just walk until you become able to start speeding. Remember, don’t panic because your horse will panic too.” “I understand.” I said. “If you feel like there’s something wrong you tell me immediately. Don’t do anything stupid Lea!” My heart started beating faster for two reasons: one, I’m afraid I will fall. Two, he was looking in my eyes when he said my name. “Okay.” I shrugged like it’s no big deal but I was dying inside. We started walking slowly on the big path leading to the big gates. The guards bowed and opened the gates for us. It felt like ages since I’ve been outside the castle’s gates. “We are going to the forest. Stay with me.” I nodded as we took a turn to the right and entered the forest. We started speeding until we were running around the woods. Riding a horse is an amazing feeling, it gave me a true sense of achievement, purpose and responsibility. It made me much happier and fulfilled. The cool breeze was hitting my face and my ponytail was flying behind me. I forgot everything in that moment and savored the moment. My eyes met his and I smiled wildly. I couldn’t contain my happiness and started laughing while he looked confused. I was so damn happy. There is nothing than can ruin my mood. He looked stunned and watched me with amused eyes. We suddenly started hearing men yelling and I tensed, which made Fiona tense. The king noticed what happened. “Lea relax these are the warriors.” He said frantically. I instantly relaxed and stopped the horse. I got down from it and the king did the same. He approached me. “The f**k were you thinking! I told you to stay relaxed. You could’ve hurt yourself.” He said with a very angry expression. “The yells startled me!” I argued with him. “Just don’t do it next time. There’s nothing to be worried about I’m here with you.” He said. His words affected me and they felt familiar. So familiar. I nodded anyways. “Leave Fiona here. They won’t run away.” He said and started walking in the direction of the yells. We stopped once we were in front of thousands and thousands of men. They were holding swords and battling each other. They were shirtless and covered in sweat. The clearing was amazing. It was covered in grass. Trees were surrounding them and blocking the sun. “His highness the king and her highness the queen!” Someone yelled and they all froze. They turned to us and bowed, but still looking at us. I froze not knowing what to do. I smiled at them awkwardly but they had all blank faces. Some of them were injured, other were resting aside. “Warriors!” The king screamed. “Sir!” They stood up straight and yelled together. Everyone had a respect expression on their faces. “Good job! Keep going!” He said with a proud expression. I watched the scene in aw. Maybe one day Nolan will be able to stand among them. My mood soured when I remember our last encounter. I really don’t know what to think anymore about us. “Warriors!” The same man yelled. He looked like the head warrior. “Yes sir!” They yelled back again. “Say the slogan.” He said. “WE FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY! WE FIGHT FOR EMERLAND! WE PROTECT THE KINGDOM! LONG LIVE THE KING!” They yelled simultaneously. “That’s amazing.” I said and the king smirked. He knew it was and he was so f*****g proud of it.
