Logan’s POV
Dean Jackson or Mistress Jackson has a high reputation around here. Exactly what Ariel said that night at my club, she comes from old money. Money so old they may have had it when money was first made. No one really knows what they do and how they make it. We just know that they have that and a heavy influence on the west side of the world.
Ariel is the spitting image of her mother; you'd think their twins are no joke. Her eyes were different though. Her eyes were a pure hazel brown. Just like her daughter, her skin was a smooth brown. You’d look at our Dean and think she’s here for her graduate degree. You wouldn’t think she’s a fifty-year-old woman.
“So what is so important that you needed to see me, Miss Hendrix?” Just like her daughter she has a voice of seduction that would send chills down your spine... A voice I’ve always been unfazed to.
“I need some information on a student. And I need it from you.” I said.
“Now, you know I can’t do that.”
“You can, with a price. Name it and I’ll do whatever you want.” Now, this caught her attention. I was willing to do whatever I needed to do to keep an eye on Domino.
Her eyebrow raised. “What can you offer me, Logan? Money? I have that. Status? I have that. My daughter may be infatuated with you. But I don’t need anything from you.”
“But you do have a price don’t you Mistress Jackson. Whatever it is, name it and I’ll make it happen. I just need this.”
She leaned over her desk showing her cleavage with the dress she was wearing. She wanted to see how far I would go for this information. Still, I was unfazed by the seduction. She chuckled because she knew I knew it was a test of will. “I see now, very well, I’ll get the information that you seek.” She said turning on her computer.
“So what is it that you want?”
“You’ll know once you get your information. Who are you looking for? I must say I’m rather interested to see whoever this girl is. She must be the one.”
“Her name Domino Lockhart… I need her schedule, her major, her advisor, and any extra activities.”
“Lockhart huh?” She smirked. She knew her or at least something.
“Am I missing something, Mistress Jackson?” Her smirk bothered me in a way.
“Oh no Miss Hendrix, here’s her information. She’s a sports medicine major. I’ve printed out her class schedule. She actually tested out of her freshman gen eds… very smart this one is.” She smiled. “Anyway, she actually got accepted into the athletic training program meaning she’ll be the trainer for either the girls’ basketball team, boys basketball team, or the boys’ football team.”
My heart dropped. I trusted the boys and I knew nothing would happen to her. However, I just would rather her be somewhere close to me. I still needed to figure out why she doesn’t know who I am. “Make her the girl's basketball trainer.”
“Miss Hendrix, I can’t do that..”
“Mistress I will double what I owe you. Make her on the girl's basketball team for the program. And make her my exclusive trainer. She’ll work with no one else. She’ll study and practice her studies on me. I’ll grant you whatever it is you desire three times over..”
“She must be worth a lot of trouble. The fact that you, a Hendrix, sitting in my office pleading and throwing offers my way. Says a lot. Word of advice Logan, don’t let them see how important she is to you. Now I know your birthday just passed, feeling different? Different at all?” She asked. I’m starting to question why everyone keeps asking me that.
“I feel fine. Now, do we have an agreement?”
“Yes. I’ll do what you asked. But what I want is simple. I want you to befriend my youngest daughter and keep her safe right next to you. Think of her as your right hand.”
“Fine done. When do I meet this mysterious daughter that you nor your daughter told me you had.” I never knew at all. Then again I and Ariel weren’t that close in our relationship.
“She’s on the basketball team with you. So you guys will meet soon.”
I’m just hoping she’s nothing like the two of them. Something's sneaky is going on and it’ll come to light sooner than they want. Nonetheless, I got what I wanted today. She’s never too far from me. I need her.
***
I walked out of Dean Jackson’s office satisfied, everything was falling in place. At least I had one thing figured out. Yet the biggest things I needed to figure out was a huge mystery. Domino seems to have zero recognition of who I am. The way I left things years ago with zero explanation was unforgivable. Just like her, it’s like I disappeared. It wasn’t my fault I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I was forced to move without knowing that I was moving. Still, we spent almost a full year together. How does something like that just disappear?
Then there was the voice. Since that night in the bathroom at my house, it hasn’t said a word. Some things caught my attention. The fact the voice sounded like a female made me think it was just my conscience on one hand. Then when the voice kept calling me a human, which tells me whatever it is isn’t. Also saying that it was a part of me made me confused as well.
I was so caught in my thoughts that I didn’t hear my phone ring. I pulled it out and looked at who was calling. It was the office calling. I didn’t want to answer, but they knew I needed some time before I jumped back in to finish the quarter changes.
I answered. “Hello?”
“Hey, are you busy right now…” Kai said.
“Yeah, I’m getting things ready for school on Monday. Is there an emergency at the office?”
She held a brief pause, “Yeah, important enough that only you can fix it… I’ll brief you when you get here.” She just hung up. I groaned, I wasn’t dressed at all for showing up to the building. I’m dressed in sweatpants and a shirt.
“f**k…” I cursed when I made it to my car. I looked up to see someone watching me in the distance. I stared back, challenging the stalker. We held each other’s gaze and it was starting to piss me off. My fist clenched along with my jaw. Who the f**k is this? It’s not the fact that she’s staring at me, no, I’m used to that. I can feel this energy raving from her that somehow ticked me off. Her expression suddenly changed to a mocking smirk. f**k this, I need to see what her problem is.
As I’m approaching her, Domino just appears out of nowhere. Her attention moves from me over here and I stopped dead in my tracks. She placed her arm around her shoulder and guided her in the other direction. To top it off she looked back at me and f*****g flicked me off!
“You’re just going to stand there and just let her disrespect you like that Human? Go beat her ass and get your girl. Put her in her place.”
I scoffed “hmmm, now you can talk.” I said as I was still watching them in the distance.
“So you’re really going to let that happen? She belongs to us.”
“Us? She doesn’t remember who I am. At least I don’t think. Between you and her that’s my biggest problem.”
“I’m not the problem human, you are.”
I jumped into the mustang and looked in the mirror, both eyes flashed to the silver-gold brown from that night. “Since you’re so talkative right now maybe you can answer my questions now.” And I got no response.
I pulled off to head towards my office. I couldn’t keep my mind off the girl with Domino. Who the f**k is she. Seems she knows who I am and what the girl means to me. I just don’t think I’ve met her before. She definitely wasn’t the girl she was with last night. The boys had mentioned to me that the girl she was with was named Alexis Edwards. So naturally, I did some digging.
Alexis Edwards is the daughter of two famous politicians, Quincy and Juliana Edwards. Both of her parents graduated here and have been donating to the school ever since. If I remember correctly Domino had a best friend that she had when she would go to summer camp every year. I believe this could be Alexis. Still, that doesn’t explain the girl from today.
After sitting in traffic I finally got to the office. Without thinking I parked in front of the main entrance instead of using my garage. Too late now, I walked into the building to see almost everyone was gone but the security guard at the main desk.
“Hey, I need to go to the CEO's office.” Again no one knew that I was indeed that CEO. I began to curse myself for not taking the easy route.
The guard wasn’t looking up at me, he was reading a sports magazine. “Sorry kiddo, the offices are closed right now…” he finally put down the magazine and faced me. His eyes grew wide. “Oh my god, it’s you! Logan Hendrix, Logan! Oh wow, it’s an honor! I just watched some of your highlights last night.”
“Thanks man, now about getting to the office?”
“I’m not allowed to. But if I could just get an autograph I’ll do it.”
“Sure man” he pulled out a magazine from his backpack. It was a magazine that I was the cover athlete for. I took a pen and signed it for him. He was super excited. I couldn’t help but smile.
“Thank you so much, Logan. Here’s the visitors’ pass. Take the second elevator it’s the top floor. Have a good night.”
“Thanks. You as well.” I left the guard at the desk walking to the elevator. When I got to my office I saw no one there. The lights were dim and Kai wasn’t at the front desk. The only light on was the light in my office. I walked to the door and smelt a candle burning. I opened the door to Kai on my desk.
“Kai? What’s going on?” She just stared at me. She had on a trench coat and some heels. I am so confused right now. “What’s so important that you needed me here?” She still wasn’t answering me. I looked around my office and finally noticed there were candles burning and petals on the ground.
She got off my desk and slowly walked to me. She began unbuttoning the coat, undoing the cloth from the coat around her waist. “What took you so long? I’ve been waiting for an hour.”
“You said this was an emergency…”
“This is an emergency… I need you.”
I’m not slow but I just had to ask “Need me to do what?”
She grabbed my shirt, bringing me down to her. She brushed her cheek against mine to whisper in my ear, “To complete the promise. Let me become yours… f**k me.”
I didn’t know what to say… she took a step back revealing what she had on. She had a very black lace lingerie on. “Control yourself human, I don’t tolerate cheaters,” the voice said. I didn’t respond because I didn’t have time to think before Kai jumped on me. “GET THIS GIRL OF US HUMAN, Do it before I do. NO CHEATING.”
“Kai! Get off.” I grabbed her waist and pushed her down to the desk. She looked at me stunned. “I… I can’t Kai..”
“You can’t?” She said
“Yes she can’t you slut we have a girl already..” the voice said in my head.
“I can’t, you’re like a sister to me… I just don’t see you in that way.”
“You don’t have to see me in that way, Logan. But that’s how things have to be for the sake of the p—— community…. Our parents-“
I was irritated “I don’t give a damn about what our parents said. They don’t make my decisions. They made one in the past that f****d up my life now. So I’m not listening anymore. I’m going to leave now… clean this up and speak to no one about this..” I turned away to walk. My hand was touching the handle...
“Think about what you’re doing Logan, whoever she is… she’s not me.. she’s not us…” I left the room.
I went to the elevator, leaning against the wall. “What the entire f**k is going on?”
The voice begins to laugh “Did you hear her? ‘She’s not me blah blah blah.’ Of course not”
“This may be a game to you but I’m the one going through it. So can you finally answer some of my questions?”
“Oh not yet, but soon human… soon..”
