Chapter 4

Lucifer sat in a blue chair, looking between the women, wondering who the person the lady next door was talking about. He would have to ask Akala later about it for now he was taking in the far-off look his wife had. He smiled as her green eyes looked everywhere but him even though he could feel her desire to look at him. Shelia, on the other hand, was staring straight at him tingles shot through him as he met her eyes. the tension between them was palpable, so he cleared his throat and began speaking. "I suppose an explanation is in order. What happened after I was called home, or rather, dragged home was an uprising because I hadn't been home in a while. I needed to calm the demons down and reinstate my place as their king. I yearned for you every day, even though I had opportunities to break the bond I never took them because I wanted you. Then I found out it was my fault before I came. I was keeping myself in Hell out of the guilt I felt for leaving you even though it was by force. I love you, and you are my wife, I'll be here for you when you need me, just as I promised three hundred years ago." Lucifer was looking in her eyes now as he spoke to her, leaving out the fact that he was mated to both of them. He needed her forgiveness before they could move on to figuring this out. Shelia scoffed and glared at him her anger bubbling to the surface as Akala sat in silence trying to process what he had said. Eventually, she let out a snort as her anger grew. He felt guilty? She had to have their child without him, Raise her, and keep her hidden because she was a hybrid, which was a huge mistake. She almost said her thoughts out loud but Shelia was the first to speak. "You felt guilty for something you had no control over? It makes no sense. A more believable story would be your father trapping you in Hell. I wish he would have kept you there too! We were happy until you showed up, WE were planning our wedding, SHE is going to be my wife. So you honestly think a three-hundred-year-old marriage contract will hold up? Ha! you try to justify your actions by trying to get her to sympathize with the burden that you created yourself!" Shelia fumed as she let everything out that she wanted to say to him. Her eyes were a dark purple as she came to the end of her rant, her skin cracked revealing her true self. Her eyes sunk into her skin, every part of her looked like her skin clung to her bones, her nails elongated. "If you know what's good for you get out of here now Lucifer, or she will rip you to shreds," Akala warned taking Shelia's hand and talking to her in whispers trying to calm her down. Lucifer nodded and left quickly, cursing as the door shut and he paced before hearing something in the house break. Swearing under his breath he walked away from the house. It didn't as planned, a scowl crossed his features. His eyes darkened as he continues to think, not noticing his golden wings were turning black at the tips. He should be comforting Akala and the zombie. He looked back at the house before disappearing. Akala felt the anger roll off of him and with his disappearance a hole in her heart. with them both here even at odds with each other, she felt complete. She held back a sigh as she looked at Shelia. Rubbing small gentle circles in her back Akala saw Shelia visibly relax. Telling her to breath and close her eyes Akala hummed an old lullaby that calmed her when she was upset or when Caitriona or Alistair fussed. She knew Shelia liked it, she said the melody was relaxing. Watching her mate return to normal was definitely an amazing process. Her body returned to its plump curvy shape. Her eyes were still purple but not deep in her skull. Her sliver hair returning to the natural silver and not a dull almost white color. Akala relaxed and stepped away from her wife. Going to the kitchen, she picked up the broom to sweep up the vase that Shelia had broken while she was in her feral state. It was strange to her, last time Shelia went feral she laughed before killing the vampire that had intended to mark her. "You weren't going to hurt him were you?" Akala asked looking up at her. Shelia's eyes grew wide as she came to, realizing what she had done. She sat on the couch looking defeated. She'd let the anger she had held on to out, knowing Akala would send him away. Although she was pretty sure that he couldn't be hurt, by her at least. Shelia looked out of the window and sighed realizing she probably ruined things for them Akala raised a brow and looked over to Shelia who seemed deep in thought. "Should we go find him?" She asked quietly. She expected a scoff instead of Shelia shaking her head. "I'll go find him, you need to hunt. I know calming me took a lot out of you. I'll let Evelyn know that Alistair needs to stay with her a little longer." Shelia smiled and looked at Akala, seeing how tired she looked. Akala had put a lot of her energy into calming Shelia. Normally she would settle for a nap, but she knew she couldn't sleep yet until they talked. Nodding she went up the stairs to her room changing into a hiking appropriate outfit and twisting her hair into a braid. her boots lot out a quiet thud on the carpet as she walked to the hallway pulling a vest over her. giving Shelia a kiss goodbye she took off into the woods making sure no one saw her. Akala lifted her nose to the air as she sniffed around for an animal that would make for a decent meal. She had stopped feeding on humans when she moved to America, back then it was impossible to not be seen as so many people had servants and family around. She picked up the scent of a big deer and smiled as she followed it. Oddly it was alone when she found it. It was already bleeding, someone had shot it just enough to graze the skin. she sighed and looked at the big brown eyes and she hated it when they looked at her like that. it lifted its tail and ran off, bounding through the trees and tall grass that grew between them. Taking another whiff she furrowed her brows. Her eyes narrowed as she smelled fresh human blood. She began following the scent, her instincts taking over as she fought them, but she couldn't fight them as she found the man who had sliced his hand open. She played coy like she was just in the area and heard him swear. He smiled and told her he had it handled but thanked her for the concern. This time she turned on the charm, her eyes seeming to glow, she smiled and walked closer to him. He was entranced by her, he wanted to reach out and touch her as she drew near which she allowed him to do. she smiled and acted shy giggling at the things he was saying, Up until the moment she sunk her fangs into his neck. She came up for air, her head started spinning as she took a step back looking at the greying skin. he was drained. Leaning against a tree she became shakey while she watched him fall to the ground, a thud when he connected. Time seemed to be moving in slow motion, sliding down the tree she knew what happened. A bloody tear fell down her cheek as she looked at the lifeless body before her. her breath was shaky as she tried to calm herself she knew she would have to call her parents about this. It was a gruesome way they took care of the body but it was necessary. She sent a message to Shelia to meet her at home. Getting up she leaned against the tree as her head swam. Slowly making it back to the house she took off the clothing making her way to the bathroom at the back of the house. The cream-colored walls irritated her eyes as the light bounced off of them. She wasn't fully out of her feral state as she stripped the bloody clothing off of her body. the scent rose with the steam, hitting her nose, and her mouth watered at the thought of the human's blood filling her mouth once again. She shook her head and pulled her thoughts away from it as she untangled her hair from the braid she had put it in. Letting her curls fall free she stepped into the shower furrowing her brows. She didn't know how long it had been since she had messaged Shelia but it was odd for her not to message back. A pain ripped through her, one thought presented itself- they were having s*x. She wasn't thinking clearly, the truth of it was, she had awoken a primal part of her that she had put to rest centuries ago. but in her mind they were forgetting her, he hadn't come back, she wasn't answering. Akala sunk against the shower wall and cried. She pulled herself together, determined that if they were going to forget her she would forget them for the night. she dried off and headed to the room to change. she searched her closet for something when one dress, in particular, caught her eye. A purple corset dress, lace reaching from the underside of her breasts to the chocker designed to act as a collar. The thick black belt sewn into the dress perfectly flattered the curves she inherited from her mother. The tulle skirts reached the back of her knees making her legs look longer than they already were. Putting on a little light makeup and her black ankle boots she left the house. Her phone stayed in the bedroom as she went to party. Driving up to a high-end bar for the town she had settled in, she parked and headed in. Quite a few people knew her and greeted her as she walked back in. catching up with them over the past couple of years she smiled as they bought her drinks. She got caught up on the scene and who was new and who had left. "You Have to see the new bartender, he's definitely your type." The wolf who was talking to her stated. She walked over to the bartender taking deep breaths, her eyes returning to their emerald green state. Even though she was far from sober she walked with the grace and confidence of a princess. She looked at the bartender, noting the long black curly hair slicked back to reveal his widow's peak. His dark blue eyes met hers and his lips pulled into a smile. His bottom lip was a little pouty as his top lip provided the perfect arch to offset the thin softly chiseled jawline. The white suit shirt pulled tightly over the slim muscles of his chest and arms. She flashed him a smile, sitting at the bar and looking over him like he was her next meal. "What can I get you, dear?" He asked and she bit her lip as the soft accent sent a shiver down her spine. She orders a whiskey on the rocks as she watched him. they talked for a little bit between him serving drinks. He slid her his number, and she gladly accepted it. When the rush of the crowd became too much for them to talk she said her goodbyes and headed to the dance floor. Dancing with her friends she would see him staring at her every so often. she was putting on a show becoming more enticing to her next victim. her feral side loved the hunt of the prey, luring them into a false sense of security, having them in her grasp before the fear set in. She smirked dancing to the music as the bartender walked over to her and handed her another drink. "The names Tom by the way." He said smiling and heading back to the bar. She drank the whiskey and talked to her friends. They started talking about the wedding and what was going to happen now that her mate was back. She shrugged like she didn't care, even though the rational part of her brain screamed at her for even thinking this was remotely okay. As the night went on her memory started slipping, intoxicated by the smell of his blood. As the night came to a close he walked over to her, offering to drive her home. With a sly smile and a nod, she headed out the door with him. After that the night became a blur, causing her to blackout. She woke up to two sets of dark eyes on her, a groan escaping her lips as she looked at Shelia and Lucifer. They helped her sit up and steadied her as she felt the rush to her head, Shelia handed her a cup of water and some painkillers. Lucifer paced the living room, stopping as he heard the little boy upstairs. He went and took care of him, changing him and bringing him down taking him to the kitchen to feed him. "What happened last night Akala?" Shelia finally asked. "Well, I fed ... Oh my god. Shelia go check the bedroom!" Akala said as her eyes widened, the memories of what happened came back to haunt her. She put her head in her hands as Shelia looked at her confused not knowing what she meant. Shaking her head Shelia obliged and walked up to their room. Opening the door she gasped seeing a man on the bed his skin cold and grey as his eyes were frozen in fear. Shelia knew what had happened then, Akala had gone feral. Closing the door she walked back down and hugged Akala. She promised they would take care of everything they needed to talk first, making Akala's stomach drop. Her eyes hit the ground thinking she was right about what had happened. Lucifer walked back in with Alistair and smiled. He had the boy giggling as he played with him distracting him from his mother's condition at the moment. Sitting with the women Akala looked at him and scowled, before noticing something strange. The tip of his wings were black, not the normal golden color.
