Chapter 4

Jax Pov

I watched Lila and Ady head off the training grounds before I turn back to the guys.

“Seriously?” I ask them all with a huff.

“You should just admit that you want her Jax?” Mason shrugs as he is putting mats away.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about,” I try to defend. I don’t need everyone knowing.

“Who are you trying to kid Jax?” Josh chuckles.

“You literally pine for the girl,” adds Max. All three of them where chuckling and agreeing. I curse and run my fingers threw my hair.

“You should either tell her straight,” Josh offers and then paused.

“Or?” I question, now curious.

“Or make her jealous,” Max adds.

“You should take Bethany up on her offer.” Mason joins in with a smirk.

I send him a glare, I am not that desperate. “No thanks.”

“You don’t have to take her up on the offer but you could flirt a little more with other girls,” offers Josh.

I leave them to finish the mats and head back to my house, I wouldn’t usually have so many showers a day but I need it. I hop into the warm water and close my eyes.

‘Go see Adyson’

‘Seriously Echo, I cannot see Ady all the time’

‘Can too.’

I rub my face with a sigh, my wolf Echo is increasingly addicted to Adyson. He wants to be around her all the time but then constantly reminds me to wait for our mate. I want to be around her all the time too. I want to touch her beautiful skin, run my hands through her hair and kiss her. The tingles I got when our lips brushed against each other were magical. It only seems to be more intense the closer I get to eighteen. Is it possible that she is my mate?

‘I hope so’

‘Me too Echo. I just don’t want to get my hopes up. Will she still want to leave if we are mates?’

‘She can’t leave if we are mates. We are the next Alpha, and she will be Luna.’

‘You know she doesn’t want that’

I quickly wash myself and shut the water off to get out.

“Jax?” I hear Adyson call from my bedroom. I didn’t even hear her come in the room, I was too busy thinking about her.

“I’ll be out in a sec,” I shout back to her.

Maybe this is an opportunity, I should just kiss her and see what happens. If she doesn’t respond then I can just laugh it off. Okay, i am going to do this. I quickly throw on my grey sweats and ruffle my hair with the towel. I walk out my bathroom and stop dead when I realise that Lila is also sitting on my bed. She looks me up and down with a hunger in her eyes. s**t, I need to put a top on. I quickly grab a hoody and pull it over my head.

Adyson is sitting against my head board with her feet outstretched and Lila is sitting by her feet crossed legged. I go to the other side and lie across the bed with my head landing in Adyson’s lap.

“What’s up?” I ask Adyson with a smile and she smiles back at me.

“We we’re going to head over to the diner if want to come?” Lila asks but I don’t turn to her, my gaze fixed on Adyson. Adyson starts running her fingers through my hair and my eyes close on their own.

“I voted to order pizza and watch a movie here but Lila wants to go out,” Adyson told me. “There is a party near the diner, everyone from school will be there.”

I still had my eyes shut as she played with my hair and thought about what she said. I would much rather stay here with Adyson but then Lila would stay too.

“Let’s go to the diner, it might be fun.” I suggest.

I stand up from the bed and notice that Adyson and Lila are not in their training clothes and must have changed before coming here. Adyson is wearing some black wet look leggings and a white T-shirt that says ‘not bothered’. She also has on some checkered vans. Her hair is down and straight.

I quickly change into some jeans to go with my hoody and we head out. The diner is American style, it has booths and milkshakes, even a little jukebox playing. As we enter the diner I throw my arm over Ady’s shoulders as usual and lead her to a booth. Lila is walking beside Adyson talking about Math I think. As we approach the booth Josh steps into our path.

“You are looking fine tonight Adyson,” Josh tells her with a wink.

Adyson laughs and steps away from me to hug him. Josh smirks at me over her shoulder and I flip him off.

“Thanks Josh, want to come sit with us?” Ady asks him.

“Sure thing babe,” he replies as he pulls her into a booth next to him. I sit down and Lila sits next to me, I groan internally as I have to watch Josh all over Adyson now. We all order milkshakes and Josh is still sending me smirks whenever Adyson looks away. He has his arm wrapped around her and keeps leaning in to whisper to her, which makes her giggle at him. I suddenly remember what they were saying earlier about making her jealous. Maybe I should give it a go. I look to my left and Lila is smiling at me as though she’s been talking to me for the last ten minutes. I give her a big smile back and reach forward to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear.

“You look really beautiful tonight Lila,” I tell her with a charming smile. Her face lights up like Christmas but i pay it no attention as I can feel Adyson’s gaze now fixed on me.

I put my arm around Lila’s shoulders, much like I often do with Adyson.

“Lila, will you come to the bathroom with me?” Adyson asks and stands up, she pulls Lila up without waiting for an answer. Once they’ve gone out of view Josh starts to laugh.

“It totally worked Jax, she was so pissed off, I could feel it radiating off her.” Josh tells me and I can’t help but feel a little guilty. I pay for the milkshakes and we stand up to wait for the girls to come back.

“Some of the others said we should go over to the party now,” Adyson explains as she reaches us again. She goes straight to Josh who wraps his arm around her. I walk ahead and don’t approach Lila this time, I feel like it was a stupid move to involve her.

‘Well obviously. She already pines for you.’

‘Thank you Echo, I know’

‘Doesn’t seem like it’ he snickers to himself.

Once outside we head into the woods and walk the path down to the log fire where everyone is gathered.

“Just in time,” Mason calls to us. “We’re just about to play spin the bottle.”

I was going to protest but Adyson grabs my hand and pulls me to sit next to her on a log. Josh is sitting the other side of her and Lila is beside him. There are around twenty people sitting on the logs and there is a stump in the middle with an empty beer bottle.

“The rules are simple, the last person to go gets to spin and pick the dare for the next person. It can be a question which they have to answer truthfully or an action they have to complete. I will spin first to kick it off,” Mason reels off the rules and spins. The bottle goes round and lands on a random girl from our classes at school. There are around five spins, some asked stupid questions. Like the amount of people they’ve kissed. A couple did a dare, one had to lick someone’s toe. It was currently on a guy nicknamed Tap, he spins and it lands on Josh.

“Josh, who do you find most attractive around the fire pit?” Tap asks with a smirk.

“My girl Adyson of course,” Josh answers and throws me a wink as he nudges Adyson. She giggles and shakes her head before taking a drink from her cup.

‘My girl’ Echo imitates Josh and I fight off my smile.

Josh spins and this time it lands on Adyson, i see a mischievous grin spread across his face. s**t, he is abit do something bad.

“Adyson, I dare you to give a lap dance to…” he trails off like he is thinking about it. That a*s is going to have her grind on someone in front of me. “Jax.” Wait! What!

‘Now you’re in trouble’ Echo laughs.

‘You’re the one who wants to wait for our mate’

‘Nothing wrong with looking Jax’

Adyson looks speechless for a second before a smile spreads across her face and she shrugs standing to her feet. She then starts dancing in front of me and I want so badly to reach out and touch her. As if she reads my mind she suddenly sits on my lap and places my hands on her hips. s**t I need to breath, my d**k is starting to get hard.

Echo is laughing at me and making it hard to concentrate on my control.

She throws her head back on my shoulder and opens her legs before running my one hand down her chest. My whole face is burning bright red and I am now hard as a rock. She must sense this given that she lets my hand go and leans forward slightly to spin the bottle. However, she does not move off my lap and passes me her cup to drink from. I am grateful for the distraction and try to get myself under control. The bottle lands on Lila and Adyson dares her to make out for two minutes with Josh. She does not appear happy but she complies as per the game. They actually really got into it and had to be called twice when time was up as they didn’t hear the first time.

Lila flushes red with embarrassment and spins the bottle which lands on Mason. She dares him to take a shot. A lot of other people have their turns again. Adyson is still perched on my lap but now she is sitting sideways with my arm round her back.

“Sorry,” Adyson whispers into my ear. Werewolves have good hearing so she was sure to say it very quietly so no one could hear.

“For what?” I ask her confused.

“I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable,” she breaths into my ear.

“You didn’t make me uncomfortable,” I tell her. “I really enjoyed it though.”

She is leaning against my neck to hide her face but I can feel the smile on her lips.

“What is happening to us” She whispers but I think she may be asking herself that question.

Just then the bottle lands on us and the girl who spun it says it’s my turn.

“Kiss the girl you fancy most,” she says with a smirk. They were all smirking at me. Does everyone really know that I want Adyson. I am an i***t for thinking I hid it well.

‘Yes, you are an i***t’ Echo continues to mock me.

I don’t know where the bravery comes from but I grab Adyson’s face and crash my lips to hers. Sparks erupt on my lips and she kisses me back with as much enthusiasm. I pull her closer and bite her lip which causes her to open her mouth. I dive my tongue into her mouth. She tastes amazing, I never want to pull away. After a few more seconds I have to pull back to catch my breath. I lean my forehead on hers whilst we catch our breath.

I realise that Echo has been stunned into silence.

A hand grasps my shoulder and I look over to see it’s Josh. He is wearing a massive grin as he congratulates me on growing some balls. I roll my eyes and shove him. I see Lila storm off from the corner of my eye, wonder what’s wrong with her. I get Adyson to spin the bottle for me and give my dare to some random guy I don’t know. Adyson doesn’t move off my lap all night. It feels so natural, so right.
