Chapter 25
“Don’t lie!” She murmured almost to herself, but he heard it anyway. “It’s true....I love you....”
She shook her head, turning herself dizzy in the process of denying that utter lie.
She was no longer the eager girl of a year ago, living in a fools paradise that promised her love and rapture in her husband’s arms. The recent experience had taught her the art of being a cynic, that there was nothing left between the two of them except their deserted marriage, that had given them both nothing but scars that would last a lifetime.
