TITLE : THE MYSTERIOUS BOARDING SCHOOL WRITTEN BY : THAT ORDINARY KIDPROLOGUE :My name is Star Khumalo l grew up in South Africa where I used to play games. Not the kind you'd find in a playground, but the kind that tested our wits, our strength, and our will to live. We played hide-and-seek in the shadows of gang violence, dodged bullets, and ran from the police. At night there was the loud screams from our parents yelling at each other. As a child, I witnessed the harsh realities of crime that plagued our nation. I saw the devastating impact of murder, with 69 lives lost every day. I heard the cries of families torn apart by violence, and the whispers of those who'd lost loved ones to the streets. In South Africa, crime isn't just a statistic; it's a part of life. The Western Cape alone accounts for 4,467 murder cases annually, with gang-related violence fueling the bloodshed. The conviction rate for homicides is abysmally low, at less than 10%. It's a system that's broken, where justice often seems like a luxury. But amidst the chaos, we found ways to cope. We played games, told stories, and laughed together. We formed our own communities, our own rules, and our own ways of surviving. As I grew older, I realized that these games of survival weren't just about having fun; they were about preparing us for the harsh realities of life in South Africa. They taught us to be resourceful, to think on our feet, and to fight for what we wanted.I am now Sixteen years but l know many ways of survival, I'm part of a game that will push me to my limits. A game where the stakes are higher than ever before. A game where I'll have to use all the skills I've learned on the streets to survive.

THE MYSTERIOUS BOARDING SCHOOL
TITLE : THE MYSTERIOUS BOARDING SCHOOL WRITTEN BY : THAT ORDINARY KID INSERT : O1 STAR'S POV After my uncle dropped me off near my school. I checked if the cost was clear and l quickly scurried away to my spot, were l normally sold the powder. My clients kept coming and by the time it was around one in the afternoon all the powder was already sold.l had to go to bruh Shakes for more supplies. Before l go further with my story my name is Star Khumalo, beats me how l got a zulu surname when l am colored. Even in the blurry memories l had of my father l know that he was a zulu man while my mom was xhosa. Sometimes l lay awake in bed thinking that maybe the reasons why my parents murdered each other was because of me. There was not a single day that went by without them fighting or screaming at each other so instead of recalling those awful l decided lock them somewhere and throw away the key, somehow l feel like the experience of watching your own parents laying in a pool of blood will forever haunt you. My dad had slit my mom's throat after an argument when he realized what he did he also slit his own throat since then l have never been the same even after my uncle took me in l do rebellious things. I run away from school and l sell drugs. I just feel so lifeless yet l still am alive. After the walk l finally arrived at the building where bruh Shakes stays. The building was old and it looked like it would crumble anytime. I stopped myself from gagging because of the stench that clung into air. I stepped into the building and the place was filled with some girls and buff guys with guns. I walked around until l spotted bruh Shakes and l walked over to him slowly as always he had two half naked girls seating on his laps and he was smoking a cigarette. The moment he saw me he gave me his revolting grin showing his ugly fake gold teeth. Bruh Shakes : Hey wena are here already are you done. I took the money from my pocket but before l could count five percent of my share he grabbed the money out of my hands. I took a long breath before opening my palm for my share. Bruh Shakes : Ehhh what do u want vele. Come back tomorrow and collect your own share. Me : Bruh Shakes l want it today l am not in the mood for jokes. The buff ugly looking guard that was nearby walked closer to us noticing the brewing commotion. I was calm but inside l was already fuming, no l am always fuming actually l am always angry at everything and right now bruh shakes was an excuse for me to use so l could get angry. Bruh Shakes : Hamba come back tomorrow. The guard took out the gun to scare me. I raised both my hands as a sign of surrender and l turned on my heels, l took two steps forward before swiftly turning. I elbowed the guard in his tummy and his gun fell from his hands. Before bruh Shakes could try reaching for his gun l had already pointed my pocket knife on the guard's throat. Me : My money or l slit his throat. Bruh Shakes : I hear you, l hear you ntwana here you go take your money. I took all the money l had came with not caring if l was the one who was supposed ti get five percent only. I shoved the money in my back pocket before l kicked the guard behind his knee, the guard fell groaning and bruh shakes chuckled before handing me the package l gave me an expressionless face and l took the package and walked out leaving the girls with bruh Shakes busy mumbling, l swear l had bruh Shakes scream "shut up" at some point before the girls giggled. I stared at the sky it was already nightfall and once again l was late. I was supposed to get home in the afternoon. I breathed in the night air with my eyes closed before shoving the money in my pockets, I then started walking home. When l finally arrived home my uncle and aunt were seated in the lounge probably waiting for me. The moment my uncle saw me he sighed and he then he removed his spectacles and rubbed his eyes. Uncle : Where are you coming from don't lie, l know you haven't been in school for awhile now. Aunt : Just tell her the news vele we tries but yhoo this one mina l give up. Uncle : You are going to a boarding school. It is decided go pack your clothes you leave tomorrow. I nodded my head and half ran upstairs to my room there is no way l was going to a boarding school never. END OF CHAPTER...
