Amber’s pov
“Alpha…i- i can expla-”
“I don’t want to hear a single word from you.” Alpha Alexander growled and I fell silent. His eyes gleamed in the dark and veins stuck out of his neck.
No, I couldn't let him take me back to the pack house. This was my only shot of freedom.
I counted to three in my head before I ripped my hand out of Alpha Alexander’s but before I could take a step forward he caught me with a vicious growl.
“Unless you want me to spread you flat right here on the ground and mate you, I suggest you not try that again.” His voice clearly conveyed his threat and I gulped.
Alpha Alexander gripped my hand in a vice grip and I winced as he began to drag me back towards the packhouse.
My heart hammered against my ribcage as I looked around but I knew it would be impossible for me to possibly escape from him.
“Please just let me go Alpha. I promise I'm not working with the rogues, I promise you’ll never see me or ever have to hear from me ever again.” I begged and he abruptly stopped walking and turned to me.
“You are my breeder now. We had an agreement and I fully expect you to keep to your end.” Alpha Alexander reminded me and somehow, I knew he would never let me leave no matter what I said.
“I’m going to put an end to this now, I should have claimed you the second you were brought out of that cell.” he growled as we resumed walking and this time as he dragged me away, i made no attempt to resist. My heart dropped at his words and fear cripped within me as I stumbled behind him.
A few pack members were loitering around the pack house as Alpha Alexander pulled me in and I ignored their stares as he led me up the stairs and pulled open the door to my room.
I instantly moved away from him and hugged myself.
“I’m sorry. Please just don’t hurt me.” I begged as tears pricked the back of my eyes.
Alpha Alexander merely stared at me without saying a word and my heart dropped…he was no doubt thinking about the most suitable punishment.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered again as he took a step towards me and I took one back.
“What exactly are you sorry for Amber?” he asked as he took another step closer.
“Please don’t hurt me.” My voice was barely above a whisper as I inched backwards until my back pressed against the wall and I had nowhere else to run to.
“That wasn’t an answer Amber.” Alpha Alexander towered over me and there was barely an inch between his body and mine.
“I’m sorry for trying to leave…for breaking our deal.” My voice cracked and the tears clouded my vision.
“Are you really sorry for leaving? Or are you just sorry I caught you before you could escape?” his head was lowered and I could feel his breath against my skin.
“If there is anything I loathe Amber, it’s being taken for a fool.” Alpha Alexander announced in a steel voice.
“I’m- i’m” Alpha Alexander’s hand came up and he caressed my cheek with such care as though I was a delicate flower.
A shiver ran through me at the feel of his fingers and it was from a mix of fear and an emotion I didn't dare identify.
“You are what Amber?” his voice was low and vibrated against my hand which i had placed against his chest.
“Does our deal still stand?” Alpha Alexander asked after a moment and I nodded, trying to ignore the tension from his closeness.
Was he going to sleep with me right now to ensure I didn't leave?
“Have you heard the rumours about me?” He questioned and once again I nodded mutely.
“Then it would be in your best interests never to attempt anything like this again Amber. Don’t do anything stupid.” he whispered before he moved away from me and I felt as though I could finally breathe again.
That was it? He was just going to let me off with a warning?
I tried to form words as I watched Alpha Alexander approach the door but I couldn't think of anything.
Suddenly, a searing pain shot through me and I was barely able to hold in a scream. Alpha Alexander turned to me just as he reached the door and I tried to act as though everything was fine but the pain grew until my feet became weak and I crumbled to the floor.
What was happening to me?
I gripped my shirt as heat spread through my chest and it felt like my internal organs were shrivelling.
“If this is another ploy to leave Amber…” I didn't catch the rest of Alpha Alexander’s statement as a scream tore through me and heat spread all over my body.
How could he think I would go through such lengths just to escape?
“Mate,” my wolf whimpered within me and it all became a little more clear.
Alpha Arron was mating with Mia. I heard about this when the mate bond wasn’t broken but I hadn't thought it really existed.
“Amber?” Alpha Alexander called out to me and I peered my eyes open to find him standing above me expressionless.
Was the man really so cold and unfeeling?
“Help…” I growled out through the pain as it became unbearable and tears clouded my vision.
I managed to tilt my head and my eyes met Alpha Alexander’s. He was still staring at me without an expression on his face and I slowly began to feel the energy get zapped out of me.
My eyes fluttered shut and I groaned helplessly on the floor and just before I lost consciousness, I felt arms wrap around me and pull me into a warm chest.
“Arron,” I whispered before everything went black.
