Chapter 4 : Going ?

ROSE'S POV :  

 When Priyanka left with the receptionist for her interview, I was left alone with my thoughts. Gathering my thoughts, I knocked on the door. "Come in .", came a female voice came from inside. Although my knees are shaking I gather all my courage and enter the room. The room has a white and gray theme and has a glass table, surrounded by black-colored chairs, that is close to the glass window. Some files are piled up on the table and a flower pot which has a beautiful blue and pink shade flower. A gray color couch is lying against the wall with a wooden coffee table on its left side. The room is spacious with a perfect interior design. It has a peaceful and calm aura.

 A middle-aged woman is sitting on a swivel behind the glass table and she is reading a file. She is wearing a black dress with boat cut neckline. She has blond hair, and her diamond necklace is taking her gorgeous look to another level. Her face has stern look as her attention is hundred percent on the file that she is holding.

  "Good afternoon mam . ", I say politely and stand in front of her desk. She lifted her head and smiled, " A very good afternoon dear. Please sit down. ". 

 'This woman seems to be nice .', I thought. " Thank you mam . ", I thanked her and sat down on one of the chairs.   

"Show me your file. I need to check your documents . ", she extended her hand in which I put my file lightly. 

 "Do you have a passport ? ", she asked with a serious face. 

 "Yes . ", I replied with a tone that shows that I need an explanation.   

 "So Miss Green, I won't beat about the bush. You have been selected and your appointment letter has been emailed to you. And you have to join in three days and that too in America . ", her statement left me in shock. 

  "But mam it is too fast. How am I going to arrange all the required arrangements? And even my family ... ", I was shocked will be an understatement.   

"Calm down miss. Don't panic. The company has arranged an apartment for you and even everything that you would be needed has already been arranged . ", she stated with calmness filled in her voice. She paused for a moment and then continued, " Basically the company has arranged everything for you . You just have to make a decision and let us know in prior so that we can book a ticket for you . Even your visa is also here . ", she told me and her words made me relax a bit.  

" So Miss Green you can go home, ponder over it and let us know your decision either by mail or you can directly message me. This is my card, take it . ", she handed me her card that I took with a small smile. "You have three days. I hope you won't disappoint us .", she said with a hint of expectations in her eyes. 

 " Okay mam, I will try my best not to disappoint you . ", I told her while smiling, not wanting to sound rude. I stood up straight and shook m hands with her. " Nice to meet you, mam. Have a nice day .", then I took my leave and left her room.

 As soon as I reached the elevator, thoughts started to come into my brain. 'Should I go or not? Or should I join the company here itself so that I don't have to leave my parents here ', my thoughts were interrupted by the ding sound of the elevator, let me know that I can enter it now. 

 The doors of the elevator opened and a handsome-looking man, with brown eyes and black hair, came out. He seemed to be in a hurry as while going out he collided with me and my file dropped to the ground. "Um... Sorry Miss. " ., he apologized and bent down to pick up the file. He picked it up and stood straight to face me, but his eyes widened and his jaw dropped to the ground. 

" Anna? What are you doing here ? ", he asked me. ANNA? Who me?  "Anna?  NO, I am not Anna. I am Rose . ", I told him assuming he must have mistaken me with someone else. " No Anna it is you. How can I ...", before he could complete his words his phone rang. He picked up the call. 

 " Yes Mrs. Fitzgerald, I am on my way. I am talking to Anna ", he replied to the person he is talking to. But his facial expression became puzzled and he glanced towards me. "Okay coming . ", without even saying a word he ran towards the corridor through which I have come a few minutes ago. 'OH so HR Head mam is Mrs. Fitzgerald '.

 I turned towards the elevator and entered it before striking the ground floor button. I reached the ground floor and went to the reception. Since Priyanka is not here so I am going to wait for her here. In a minute or so I saw her approaching me with a grin on her face. But her expression changed; expression of concern.  

 " Hey Rose, how was your interview? You look puzzled. What happened ? ", she asked me, with concern in her voice. 

 " Yeah, that was good. But .. ", I trailed off.  

 " But ..? But what Rose ? ", she narrowed he eyes at me. 

 " But they want me to join their company in America and that too in three days", she said in a low voice. "WHAT ?? ", she was shocked to hear that. "Let us go home, I will tell you everything meanwhile ", I took her hand and came out of the building. We waved at a taxi and got inside. "4119 Howard street ", Priyanka gave him the address. "So now tell me what exactly happened ", she turned towards me and asked.

 " The HR Head mam or you can say Mrs. Fitzgerald said that I have already been selected and they want me to join their company in America and that too within three days. She also said that the company has already arranged one apartment for me and all other required stuff. Plus they have arranged the visa also. She also said that they can arrange the ticket as well . ", I told her everything that happened there.

 "Okay. But isn't it too fast. I mean ..", Priyanka said. But I interrupted her, " Yeah, it is . She has given me time. ". "SO. ", she said. " So? ", I asked. " I mean, do you want to go there ? ", she seems to be excited by this thought. "Um .. Yeah I think I should go there but I don't want to leave my parents here . I need to discuss it with them as well . ", I said to her while looking out of the window. " You know what, I am always with you . Whatever decision you will be taking I'll always be with you . ", she said holding my hand and I can feel her warm hands assuring me that she is always with me.

 I was looking out of the window when a thought came to my mind. " Aye, how was your interview ?", I turned towards her and asked her excitedly. As soon as I asked her this question a wide grin made its way across her face and she shyly turned her face towards the window. "It was good. Quite good . ", she spoke. " That's it? That's all you want to tell me ? ", I knew that there was a lot more. Then she gave me every detail of what happened there. " Wow, I am sure he is in love with you. Plus the blush on your face is telling me a different story you know ", I teased her. " No, it is not like that. That was quite funny when he was looking at me in amusement. I seriously wanted to roll my eyes . ", she said chuckling. "At first anger started to flow in my veins but when I saw his family photo my anger vanished . ", she was smiling by this point. "His family looks cute . ", she said imagining them. 

"I am feeling a bit sleepy so let me sleep. When we reach the destination wake me up ", I said yawning, and put my head in her lap.

"Rose, Rose we are home. get up ", in my sleep I heard Priyanka's voice. I felt her hand softly stroking my hair to wake me up. I slowly opened m eyes and say that we have arrived. I sat up straight and fixed my hair, meanwhile, Priyanka got out of the car and went to pay. I got out of the car and took Priyanka's bag. We both got inside. By that time mom came out smiling. " How was it girls ? ", she asked us. Some deep yawns escaped my mouth and I said, " Mom, first let me sleep then I will tell you everything . ", then I headed towards the stairs. " Come sit auntie. I will tell you . ", I heard Priyanka say. 

 After an hour when I woke up I opened my eyes and went to the bathroom to wash my face. Coming out, I went inside my walk-in closet to change as I didn't change before going to sleep. I went downstairs after changing into my comfortable shorts and t-shirt. I went inside the kitchen to fetch myself a glass of water. Then I went straight to the living room and I can already hear mum, dad, and Priyanka talking over some topic. " And she is here. why don't we ask her rather than arguing with each other . ", mum said to dad while looking at me. 

"What do you want to ask ?", I asked them sitting down on the sofa and drinking my water.

"We were discussing your job. I was saying that you should join the company in America while your mother says that you should ask them to let you join it here only . ", dad told me briefly. "Mary you should let her go. My girl is a grown-up girl now. Plus the company has already arranged everything. ", dad said to mom.

" I think that I should join the company in America and if I don't like it then I will ask them to let me join it here. And if they don't allow me then I will leave the job and get a new job here . ", I suggested my opinion. "Is it okay guys ? ", I asked them to tell me about my decision. "Or maybe we all can shift in America . ", I suggested.

"Mary just allows her . ", dad took a hold of mum's shoulders and gave her assuring look. "Our girl will be fine. And there is a high possibility that Priyanka can also be selected and get a chance to join in America. These two are enough to make the whole world crazy . ", dad said the last part laughing making us burst out in laughter.

"Okay, you can go. But don't forget to call us whenever you are free ", finally mom agreed. And then she gave me a full lecture on how I should take care of myself in a new country and be careful. After complete two hours of her lecture, now it's time for our dinner. Mom has made my favorite dishes. We enjoyed our food and talked about me when I was a kid. what was my reaction when I took the first step, how I complained after returning from school on my first day, how I jumped the whole day after winning my certificate in the first standard. Like literally every topic.

Around 10 we decided to go to bed and enjoy the next day with each other. Priyanka left for her house informing me that she would be coming early in the morning. And now I am sitting on my bed with my laptop, writing a mail to inform Mrs. Fitzgerald that I would be joining the company in three days. I sent the mail and checked my phone as there are some congratulatory messages from my friends.

After I replied to all the messages I went under the sheets to sleep as my heavy eyelids are refusing to stay open even for another second. Soon I was engulfed by deep sleep.
