Blending In

The wind whipped through the dreary street, causing a very tall man, about 6'7", to pull his long black trenchcoat tighter around his broad shoulders. A Black beanie emblazoned with a large blue lightning bolt adorned his head as he lowered it, squinting his strikingly different eyes. One eye was a deep crimson red, while the other was a bright ocean blue. His large combat boots trudged numbly through the large puddles created by the sudden thunderstorm as he searched for a pub or tavern nearby. His eyes widened as a neon sign reading "Punkie's Pub and Tavern" lit up, along with a smaller open sign, right across the street from where he stood. Grinning, he revealed a set of perfectly white teeth with elongated canines while darting across the road and into the pub.     "Oi! Yer a bit early, ain't ya?" a squat man with oily brown receding hair and beady black eyes exclaimed, setting down a glass and rag and motioning for the tall man to have a seat at the bar. "Great weather, yeah?"     "Wonderful," the taller man replied sarcastically, his deep voice matching his size perfectly as he removed his beanie, revealing short, spiky ice-blue hair with red roots and neon blue highlights.     "Name's Punkie, friend. What's yours?" the smaller man offered, holding out his pudgy hand.        "Alec," the taller man replied, shaking Punkie's hand firmly.     "So what'll it be, Alec?" Punkie queried, grabbing a glass and pouring himself an ale.         "Just a soda, and maybe some food?" Alec requested timidly, giving a small embarrassed smile as his stomach growled loudly. "I've been on a long journey and forgot to eat yesterday..."     "Ach, boyo!" Punkie shook his head, pouring a glass of Coke and grabbing a sandwich from the deli. "You shouldn't do that..."     "I know sir," Alec's head drooped in shame. "But I was in such a hurry I forgot to pack any food..."     "Well, tuck in, boyo," Punkie ordered, placing his pudgy hands on his wide hips. "This one's on me."     "Oh, no sir!" Alec protested, his strange eyes widening. "I couldn't possibly take this for free!"     "Ye can and will, laddie," Punkie replied, staring at Alec like a father scolding his son.     "Yes sir," Alec bowed his head in defeat. "You remind me so much of my father..."     "Then yer pa was awesome!" Punkie chuckled. Just then, the door chimed, and a young woman with wild pink hair rushed in, cursing under her breath. She wore a red and black mini skirt and a black corset shirt with thigh-high leather boots.     "Damn this f*****g storm!" her squeaky voice matched her tiny frame as she shook like a dog to rid herself of the water droplets clinging to her skin, outfit, and hair.     "'Ey, Lulu!" Punkie called, grinning at her. "Yer late!"     "Two damned minutes, ya old fart!" Lulu growled. "And it's cuz of this bloody storm!"     Punkie chuckled and tossed her a towel from behind the bar. Lulu deftly caught it, grimacing at Punkie before drying herself off. After throwing the towel back at Punkie, aiming for his head, she finally noticed Alec.        "Oh s**t! Sorry!" Lulu cried, her violet eyes widening in surprise. "I didn't realize we had a customer!"     "It's all good miss," Alec nodded, smiling. "I know the feeling."     "Please! Call me Lulu!" she said, shaking Alec's hand and smiling brightly. "I'm just surprised. No one is ever here this early."     "I'm new in town, and was hungry," Alec admitted sheepishly. "Alec is the name."     "Well it's great to meet a new face! We don't get many here," Lulu smirked before heading into the back to get her waitress apron.     "She's nice," Alec observed before starting to eat his sandwich.     "Yeah, one of the nicest girls in town," Punkie frowned. "Too bad none of the boyos see her for her..."     "The right one will eventually," Alec commented, swallowing the last bite of his sandwich. "That was amazing, Punkie, thank you!"     "No problem boyo," Punkie grinned, taking the plate and refilling Alec's coke. "Still hingry?"     "A little," Alec admitted, lowering his eyes, a slight blush creeping into his cheeks.      "Lemme find ya somethin'," Punkie disappeared into the kitchen.     'These people are so nice!'  Alec thought to himself, putting his messenger bag down on the stool next to him. 'Maybe I can actually stay here a while....'     Punkie came back out carrying a steaming pumpkin pie and placed it in front of Alec.         "Eat, yer lookin' a bit peckish," Punkie commanded, looking at Alec sternly.     "Now you remind me of my mom," Alec mumbled, grabbing a fork and digging into the pie obediently.     "Well I can't let the new kid starve, now can I?" Punkie queried matter-of-factly. Alec smirked, then turned his attention back to the delicious pie as Punkie and Lulu got the pub ready for their regulars that would be coming in soon.     The door chimed again as a small redhead and a taller black-haired woman entered the tavern, giggling at some unheard joke. Chiming again not five seconds later, the door opened to reveal two men, one with dirty blonde hair, the other with dark brown wavy hair. Alec and Lukian both immediately snapped their heads towards Alicia, who was oblivious.     "Mate..." both men whisper-growled. Alec's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates, while Lukian's narrowed at the woman who was his mate.     "Shit..." Alicia groaned, her eyes flickering between the two men staring at her.
