CLASSROOM - MORNING
The teacher steps in with a tall, broad‑shouldered young man at her side—easy, confident, with a warm, open smile that lights up the whole room. His clothes are high‑quality but simple, no flashy logos—just as his parents insisted, determined to keep him grounded despite his name. Ryuu, sole heir to the country’s largest real estate empire, vast holdings and prime land across every major city. He is wealthy, well‑connected, and used to getting what he wants… though his family sent him here as a sharp lesson, expelled from his previous school for too many fights and reckless acts, transferred to a quieter place to learn humility. He never guessed—even for a second—that he would walk straight back into the path of the girl he has liked since they were children.
The moment his eyes land on Xhilo, his face brightens instantly—surprise turning straight into delight. Before the teacher can even finish introducing him, he strides past rows of desks, right to where she sits beside Kaito.
"Xhilo?! I never imagined I’d find you here! It’s been years—you’re even more amazing than I remembered."
He beams, leaning close with the familiar ease of someone who shared playgrounds and secrets long ago—completely open, completely happy to see her. He doesn’t hold back either, it is obvious, even to everyone watching, that his childhood crush never faded—it only grew stronger.
Surprised at first, then smiling warmly herself. "Ryuu! I had no idea you were coming—what a wonderful surprise!"
She is genuinely glad—he feels like a piece of simpler, safer times, friendly and familiar, nothing like the quiet, careful protection she has come to rely on lately.
But beside her, the atmosphere shifts instantly.
Kaito sits perfectly still—no change in posture, no loud reaction—but the air around him drops cold and sharp. His eyes lock on Ryuu: calm, dark, measuring everything—his confidence, his wealth, his easy claim to her attention. He knows exactly who Ryuu is—and also exactly where he stands. While Ryuu’s family controls land and buildings, Kaito’s empire stretches far wider—malls, chains, logistics, finance, and holdings that dwarf even the largest real estate portfolios. He is still ahead, still above—something Ryuu has not yet realized.
Ryuu pulls a chair close—deliberately positioning himself right beside her, opposite Kaito—and makes his intention clear at once, loud enough for everyone near to hear:
"I’m staying right here from now on. And honestly? I’ve waited long enough—this time, I’m going to properly court you, Xhilo. Just like I always wanted to."
He says it with a bright, unshakable confidence—completely unaware that he has just stepped directly into the space Kaito has spent months sealing off, claiming, and guarding as his absolute own.
Kaito’s smile never falters—but his gaze is cold and sharp as a blade, watching every move, every word, every too‑familiar gesture. He says nothing yet… but every line of his body hums with one clear truth: no one comes between him and what belongs to him—not even an old friend, not even a wealthy heir. And he already knows exactly how to handle anyone foolish enough to try.
Ryuu settles in easily, his bright energy lighting up the whole space—tall, handsome, with a warm, easy smile that reaches his eyes. He is naturally smart, sharp enough to catch up on lessons in minutes, answering the teacher’s trickiest questions with casual confidence, yet never arrogant—quick to laugh, quick to share notes, kind to everyone around him, exactly as he has always been.
His focus never strays far from Xhilo. Before the first period even ends, he already notices her struggling to balance a stack of heavy textbooks and her notebook, her hands full as she reaches for something on the edge of the desk.
Kaito shifts slightly, ready to lean forward and take them—always first, always there—but Ryuu is already there, moving with quick, friendly energy.
"Let me get that for you—too much to carry all at once, right?"
He takes the whole stack easily, arranging them neatly for her with a bright, genuine grin, leaning in like it is the most natural thing in the world. He chats lightly, recalling small memories from when they were children, asking about her studies and her work—attentive, helpful, completely focused only on her. He does not even glance at Kaito; he truly does not see him as any kind of rival or suitor—just another classmate sitting nearby, nothing more. He is too open, too innocent, too wrapped up in finally finding the girl he has always liked to notice the quiet tension filling the air.
KAITO’S POINT OF VIEW
From his seat, Kaito watches every single movement—calm, still, his face smooth and unreadable, as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening. He does not frown, does not lean forward, does not show even a flicker of irritation. But behind that composed expression, his mind works with cold, absolute precision, cataloging every detail.
The way Ryuu moves—confident, unguarded.
His status—heir to the country’s largest real estate group, yes… but still small compared to the empire Kaito controls, land and buildings are valuable, but they do not stretch as far, reach as deep, or hold as much power as his own web of finance, trade, and influence.
His personality—open, kind, intelligent, reckless enough to act first and think later… easy enough to read, easy enough to predict, easy enough to dismantle if needed.
Before the bell even rings for the break, Kaito has already sent the silent command through his network—full background check, everything, down to the smallest detail. By the time they step out into the hallway, every part of Ryuu’s life is laid out clearly on a secure screen only Kaito can access, his family’s holdings, their rules and limits, his past trouble at school, the reason for his transfer, his strengths, his weaknesses, exactly what he wants… and exactly where he is vulnerable.
Kaito folds his hands loosely in his lap, his expression still calm, his eyes dark and sharp as they follow Ryuu—who is laughing at something Xhilo said, completely unaware of the invisible weight now pressing down on him.
Soft, only to himself, cold and certain. "He thinks he walked back into her life like some happy coincidence. He thinks his name, his fortune, his charm mean something here. He is bright, kind, and earnest… and he has absolutely no idea he just stepped onto ground that belongs entirely to me. Let him show off his help, his smiles, his attention for now. I know everything about him already. And everything he tries to do… I have already thought of first."
