Prologue
Danny looked to the two girls in front of him as they argued.
“But you have to be the bad guy, Cassie, who else would play him?” Said the blond-haired girl.
“But-But Jenette, I don’t wanna!” Exclaimed the petite brunette to Danny’s right, before she began crying. Danny quickly rushed over to Cassie and enveloped her in a large hug.
“It’s okay Cassie.” Danny stated as he gently rubbed Cassie’s back, “I’ll be the bad guy this time. You can play Thompson Riot!”
Cassie sniffled and looked up to Danny.
“Y-you sure? Y-you love t-to play as Thompson…” Cassie mumbled as Danny let go of her.
“I’m certain! Besides, we can make Jenette play as Trillion!” Danny exclaimed with a laugh, Cassie giggling along with him.
“Whatever! Tales of Thompson Riot is for babies anyways!” Jenette pouted as she stomped off from the two.
Danny watched Jenette march away before looking back at Cassie. The young girl gently wiped her eyes.
“Cassie! Why don’t we play at my house after school today?” Danny questioned with a large smile, attempting to cheer up the young blonde girl. “I can show you all the Tales of Thompson Riot comics I have!” The young boy exclaimed, lightly jumping up and down as though he was by the tree on Christmas morning.
“Really? Will your mommy be okay with it?” Cassie asked, concern lacing her voice.
“Yeah yeah! I’ll ask her when we get home off the bus stop, then I can run across the street with her to get you!” Danny responded excitedly. Cassie nodded back to him with ecstatic glee before a loud bell was heard across the schoolyard.
“All sixth graders, return to your classrooms.” A monotone voice rang from the loudspeaker as all the kids around Danny and Cassie began to walk inside, the pair slowly following behind.
