Chapter One
"Sage. You keep zoning out." my best friend Xena piped up as she nudged me in the ribs snapping my attention back to the class at hand.
" I can't help that this class is such a bore." I replied as I chewed on my pen cap. " Maybe if Mr.Rune , made it slightly more fun I would pay attention." I mumbled softly to my friend as I jotted down the notes the teacher was writing on the black board.
" Its history. How more exciting could it get?" Xena pointed out as she rolled her eyes.
Mr. Rune turned towards the class and cleared his throat before he spoke "Class I hope you have taken in these notes for next class for there will be a test. Also I am letting you all know this is my last class with you for the rest of the year. The new teacher will be arriving tomorrow so please be on your best behavior. Class is dismissed."
Thankfully it was the last class of the day as the students rushed to exit the door. Sage stooped to gather her belongings and shoved them into her bag. Of course she was the last one in the room. Xena had already dashed out the door to go meet her boyfriend Zeke
which left Sage in the classroom alone. Sage stood up and slung her bag over her shoulder and walked to the door. not paying attention to where she was going she bumped into a solid figure. Her things dropped to the floor and scattered at her feet.
" I am so sorry I am such a klutz? she mumbled as she scrambled to pick up her things in embarrassment.
" No its entirely my fault for not looking where I was going." a deep voice replied to her. " I should be more careful where I walk." the voice said as he handed her one of the books that fell from her bag. Reaching out to take the book she accidently brushed her fingers against the person she ran into. She felt a electric shock of warmth pass through her body. As she did dhe looked up to see who she ran into.
Clenching her jaw from it dropping there stood in front of her the most gorgeous human she ever saw. Or well human she thought he was but little did she know he wasn't all human.
Looking at him he had these warm brown eyes with what looked like specks of golds in them. his hair a dirty light brown close to blonde really. To her he was handsome and so breath taking.
" Thank you." Sage mumbled as she took the book from his hands and stumbled past him to the parking lot to her car.
Opening the door she threw her bag into the back seat before she climbed in. Taking a huge breath in and out she started her car and as soon as she did music came blasting from the stereo. She quickly reached over and turned the music down. Placing her hands on the wheel she began to drive her way home.
Sage reached her home. She pulled into the drive way dreading walking through the door knowing her father would be sitting on the couch likely drunk from the day drinking he does.
Letting out a soft sigh she grabbed her bag and opened her car door. As soon as she did her father opened the door to the house.
" Bout time you got home. Im starving." her father yelled out to her as she slammed her car door shut.
" You do know how to cook dad." she shot back at him as she shoved her way through the door and to her room where she threw her bag onto her bed before turning around and folding her arms across her chest and looked at her father for a reply.
" I can but half the time you know I burn the food." he managed to say without slurring his words.
Sage let out a sigh and an eye roll as she headed to the fridge to pull out something to cook for supper.
