What is reality?
‘The barriers between our imagination and real life are very thin. One wrong turn in our life and it will break into pieces, we are just too fragile. ‘Those thoughts rushed through her mind as the freezing air crashed into her burning skin. Maze of different shapes were passing her during which she speeds up the jog to full on run. She didn’t have to see where she was going; knowing this route too well, her body automatically turn sharp left like it was on autopilot. She been running down this wooden route for past two months, since she moved to this little town. Well not that little as Luminawas known for its amazing beauty of the deep forests and mountains, well and of course the never-ending streets full of clubs. Meaning lots of students came here to the Duke University; parties that’s what was on their maids when they pick this university.
Aria on another hand couldn’t be bothered with this unsatisfying lifestyle, many humans picked to live. She been trying to move on from her past. Well, “trying”; didn’t stooped her from running, working out and practicing throwing her karambits, which wasn’t that easy as those knives themselves are curved blades; basically, nearly impossible to be accurate with those. That never stopped her.
Taking another sharp left; finally stopping at her special place far away from human settlement, heavy breathing she stretched out after the 5 mils run. Sounds of animals around her finally filled her ears after she took out the earphones, putting them quickly away. The wooden curtains surrounding her created the peace that her soul needed after those 15 years of scars, pain, and numbness. Her eyes slowly scanned this place like she was seeing it for the first time in her life. The mesmerizing shine of the emerald, green leaves; those shimmers in her eyes giving them beautiful colour of green- grey. She could never comprehend the beauty of this place, nor understand how humans could destroy it. But are humans the only monster she knew. From her experience there were far worst things then human race and it ignorance.
Sudden buzz brought her back to reality; 9:30am.
‘f**k’. She was going to be late, not realizing how long she was daydreaming, she quickly made her was back home from the mountain; sadly, not doing any practice today.

The Lumina was busy like always, filled with people rushing to work, witches casting spells on any nature around us, including, flowers, weather and even animals themselves. Then the rest of us just pretending to be useful, I guess. Witches were the only ones keeping balance in places like this. Making sure werewolves and vampires didn’t go for each other throats. Such a sad excuse to start a fight.
Aria made her way through crowds that were in her way back to the apartment she was at. Finally, as she pushed through last of them; there it was old scrambled and cranky building which contained at least 15 apartments. There may be more, but Aria never was a curious one to find out. Old wooden door opened with as crank, and a small older gentleman with big oval glasses that barely stayed on the tip of his crooked nose, poked his head out with a pleased smile. His almond eyes stared into arias saddest parts of personality. That’s why maybe she liked him. He made her feel like he understood her.
“Oh aria. You are just in time” his gentle smile and eyes brightened as she showed her own version of the same expression he had.
“Mr. Vardon, you never miss the breakfast, don’t you?” he energetically nodded his head, if she didn’t know he was 78 years old, aria would never believe it.
This place had 3 simple rules:
-all residents eat the breakfast together
-do not cause problems that would bring trouble to the floral complex of 6 diamonds.
-all doors locked after 3 am and don’t open till 7:30 am.
“You must be as hungry as I am” Var said as he happily opened the rusty doors wider. Aria smiled little wider and made her way past him, as she kept on nodding at his words; to the massive dining hall that used to be used for majestic parties, but now was covered in dust and spider webs. The windows themselves where cracking from both sides, telling us that they had enough. The hall itself was old fashion like from 1920s, with furniture of burgundy red colour, that was kept in the perfect condition.
Seeing that most residents already sat on the end of the table closer to the exit, she made her was as far as possible from them and their lively conversations. She didn’t understand why they were so excited to talk to others in the morning. She hardly could say a sentence to Mr. Var before she lost interest in the conversation. As she found a place at the other end of the massive tables; Aria could finally pick what she would eat for breakfast. There were endless food supplies on the table that could easily feed all the starving children in this city, but who cares.
With appetite she started to consume a bowl full of Greek yogurt and fruits, her favourite. Only on Wednesdays.
“She is bit weird, always alone as well” the old hags were talking about her again, damn that stupid supernatural hearing and she lost her appetite straight away. Giving them dead stare, she made her way back to the room after leaving half eaten fruit bowl at the dirty dishes shelf. Mr.Var watch her leave the hall with disappointed expression. He hated when she would leave after 10 minutes of eating. He didn’t say anything. Last month he would usually try to stop her or something but seems that her just showing up on time and eating so what something, would satisfy him now. Aria didn’t dare to look at him, just because she did respect him a little bit.
The stairs cracked and moaned under her feet as she climbed up to the 3th floor. Hearing the usual argument from room 14, she just glanced over to the doors that were clearly being slammed on; then opened the door 15 and walked into the apartment.
Apartments where vintage, old and smelled of culture that is rare to see. Arias queen mattress was taking the 1/4 of her room, which was directly connected to the kitchen and bathroom. It was a big room like it was at least 2 rooms together. It easily contained the living room stuff as well as her bedroom stuff. Wallpaper was slowly falling of the walls, not including the holes in the kitchen walls as well. Her loud sigh echoed among the squares of this apartment. Shower time. On another hand the bathroom only had enough space for a small shower, sink and the toilet itself.
She catches a glimps of herself in the mirror. The short purple and blue hair suit her inside almond like white carnation, close to white but not close enough. The black long-sleeved top and sport leggings, nicely showed of her curvy body, she gained some weight since she left that place. Another sigh left her pink lips as she prepared mentally for what was next. Slowly taking of the top; turned away from the mirror not wanting to see the horrors of the scars that covered her ribs and stomach.
~ “Ri? What happened? How did all of it went wrong?” her face looked sad for the first time in arias life she seen her upset. Why? Arias hand slowly moved up to touch the girls face when the sight of red water paralyzed her hand mid-air.
“Ri, get yourself together!” aria felt sudden sharp pain to her side, her eyes life in slow motion locked with the massive claws that was ripping the side of her body. The agony that came after was indescribable. ~
Arias stomach suddenly twisted on itself and she left her breakfast leaving her body as fast as it came into it. Thank God she was in the toilet as there was no way she would make it to the bathroom in time. She felt every piece of food going out of her throat like some sad melody that will play on repeat in her broken head. Aria was used to it, as there is thin wall between sanity and insanity. Another burp was interrupted by a loud knocking on the door.
‘great now what?’ she whipped her faces quickly not caring if she looked like dead, she stomped to the door.
