Sapphire
“The guys should be here soon,” Lotus said flipping through her phone.
“Where are Carla and Toby?” Solé said putting on more lip-gloss. Then wiping something off her long layered tanks one was black and the other a bold purple and a black metallic belt over her waist. She was wearing black tights and thigh high boots with her golden blonde hair kinky and curly falling in masses over to one side of her head.
“Freshmen aren’t allowed to a lot of Roman’s parties,” she said putting her phone in one of the pockets in the red bubble belted dress. Her glossy brown curls bounced with every move she made.
“That sucks poor Carla’s missing her favorite boy toy,” Solé said pointing at Nasfice.
“Um, Nazzie is a gift from God,” Lotus smiled.
“Oh, is that right,” Shalimar said from behind her as he kissed her cheek.
“Your sister seems to think so,” she smiled.
“Why do you love to irritate me?” he asked.
“It’s really fun,” she smiled kissing him.
“Get a room,” Harper said coming over with Fahlynn and a tray of shots and water for everyone. “Hey your boyfriend’s here Sapp,” he said pointing over to Xavier who was with Amber. She was the miss society of East Falls. She is in every club, on every sports team, and an A student. Amber was also one of the most beautiful girls at school. Her pouty lips and wide hips drove the boys, and some girls, crazy. Her fitted low-cut mini dress showed off her many features.
“Amber wow,” Shalimar said with a whistle.
“Hey,” Lotus said nudging him with her elbow.
“Oh, so it’s okay for you to man handle Naz with your eyes, but I can’t say anything about Amber. Okay,” Shalimar shrugged.
“If she wasn’t a crazy b***h I’d have no problem with it, but she doesn’t know how to leave thing that aren’t hers alone,” Lotus said hugging him.
“Well we know who’s having fun tonight,” Sapphire said grabbing a water.
“You’re not the slightest bit jealous?” Fahlynn asked.
“It’s not like it’ll do any good. Hatin’ anit my style,” she said taking a swig of water.
“Okay,” Harper said giving everyone a shot.
“We can’t drink,” Solé said.
“Why is that?” Harper asked.
“Gave it up for lent,” Solé smiled.
“No problem,” Harper said winking at her and making her blush. “Here’s water for you. Let’s toast to a wonderful night and a much needed harvest break,” Harper said as they toasted.
“School started like a month ago,” Fahlynn said as everyone looked at Harper.
“You wanna dance,” Shalimar asked Lotus as he reached out for her hand.
“Sure,” she said sitting her purse on the table.
“Do you wanna dance?” Harper asked Solé.
“Um sure,” she said blushing a little bit. Sapphire smiled as she took her bag, but Fahlynn looked upset.
“What’s up with you?” she asked getting up to sit closer to him so they could hear each other.
“What’s your friend,” he said knowing Solé couldn’t be her sister.
“She’s half-light fairy,” she said.
“Half what else?” he asked. She just glared at him. “Why is she here?”
“In case I need medical help. She’s a healer,” she said. “Do you want a soda or something?” she asked getting up.
“I’ll get it what do you drink,” he smiled.
“A cream soda would be nice,” she said smiling back at him.
As soon as Fahlynn left Xavier came over. “Do you wanna dance,” Xavier asked coming up from behind her and sitting in Fahlynn’s seat.
“No, I’m okay,” she smiled.
“Come on it’ll be fun,” he whispered into her ear.
“I’m fine go have fun,” he said nodding at Amber who was with Noah chatting it up with Roman by the bar.
“Okay,” he said giving her a kiss on the cheek and going back over to the bar.
“Bye,” she waved.
“You two seem to be doing better,” Fahlynn said giving her the tray with the drinks so he could clear some space on the table. She knew he didn’t like the fact that she still hung out with Xavier. She only did it to spark some kind of interest out of him.
“We’re not dating anymore if that’s what you’re getting at,” she said handing him his drink.
“It’s none of my business what you do off the field,” he said trying to sound sincere. But, it comforted him to hear that. Apart of him wanted Sapphire all to himself. Even though he’d never actually try to have a relationship with her. “I’m sorry to hear that,” he said sitting his hand on hers.
“You don’t mean that,” she smiled.
“I do…a little bit,” he said and they both laughed.
“Fahlynn is there some way we can be friends?” she asked as he looked into her eyes.
“Aren’t we friends?” he asked making her blush a little.
“I like this,” she said with a smile.
“I do too,” he said.
Lotus
“They look happy together,” Shalimar said.
“Fahlynn and Sapphire always look happy when they’re together. Well, unless he’s being a j******f,” she said smiling up at Shalimar. She didn’t get why they were playing that stupid game of cat and mouse, but it was slowly working.
He laughed, “I meant Harper and Solé.” She had forgotten about them completely.
“Oh,” Lotus said looking over her shoulder at Harper and Solé who were off talking in the corner. “They do look good together. The gods know that boy needs a sane girlfriend.” She said thinking about how crazy he and Amber were together. That girl really had an obsession.
“Lo, why are you trying to fix them two up anyway?” he asked holding her tighter in his arms. She loved the comforted Shalimar’s arms brought. She didn’t know what to say. All she ever wanted for Fahlynn was for him to be happy. He’d lost a lot when his parents disappeared.
If the tables were turn she was sure she’d never be half the person he is.
“You know why,” she said, pulling him off the dance floor to get drinks, knowing he understood her motivation for pursuing this. He was the only person she knew that could completely understand the power of the Cupido spell. She more than loved Shalimar, and he felt the same about her. There were no secrets between them and they knew each other beyond the explanation of words. He was a part of her DNA make up. He was imprinted on her soul. She knew that even in the afterlife they’d love each other.
“If they’re truly soul mates like us time will wind up bring them together.” He said not seeing her urgency.
“Well that’s not good enough for me. Fahlynn’s lost so much he deserves what we have,” she said giving him a drink.
“You can’t force them on each other. That’s cruel and unusual punishment,” he laughed.
“And you’re some kind of love expert now,” she said wrapping her arms around his waist and placing her chin on his chest.
“I bagged you didn’t I,” he said holding her.
“I love you babe,” she said kissing him.
“You need to stop worrying about Fahlynn she got ’em,” he said glancing over at Fahlynn and Sapphire.
“I guess,” she said smiling at them.
Solé
“Can I ask you something?” Harper said as he helped Solé to a chair. Her feet were officially numb and she felt like an i***t for wearing those shoes.
“To be honest I have no idea why I put these shoes on,” she said kicking her legs.
“No, I just wanted to know the truth about you and Sapphire,” he said grabbing water off a waitress’s tray and sitting it in front of her.
“The truth about what?” she asked.
“Are you two really sisters?”
“In the way that counts yeah, by blood not so much,” she said taking a drink of water.
“Does she have a thing for that guy?” he asked.
“What guy, Xavier?” she asked. Confused, “that guy” could mean anything.
“No, the one that came here with you guys?”
“Oh, Jessi not anymore I don’t think, but every girl has a thing for him,” she laughed.
“Do you?” he asked with raised eyebrows.
