For Lune Bright, gambling was an emotional rollercoaster. She had thought she could make a fortune by manipulating Aurora into giving up her stones, but her plan had backfired. So far, she had cracked open five stones. Each one had been a dud. She didn’t want to think about how much money she’d lost so far.
Lune couldn’t figure out how so many stones – stones that had been hand-picked by Aurora – could have turned out to be duds, but she was beginning to get an inkling. She asked herself, what would I do if I were Aurora? And suddenly the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. She couldn’t see the whole picture yet, but at least she had the edges mapped out.
Lune glanced at Aurora and felt embarrassed for not having listened to her and sold her last stone when she’d been able.
